February 2, 201312 yr Me too! I actually care more about Melodifestivalen than Eurovision, not gonna lie.
February 2, 201312 yr The 2:30 studio versions are now available on the website! 'Skyline' sounds fantastic, especially loving the breakdown and build up to the final chorus!
February 2, 201312 yr Skyline was so blatantly influenced by the success of Somebody That I Used to Know! Listening now. <3 I can't say I am more excited for MF than Eurovision even though I WANT TO BE. Simply NOTHING can compare to Eurovision really. Edited February 2, 201312 yr by パーベル
February 2, 201312 yr My thoughts: David Lindgren - Skyline: There's no way this is missing the final, although I find it all a bit colour-by-numbers. He's basically a third rate Danny, with whiny vocals and that break down is a complete mess. Sweden will love it though, and with no entry from Danny in the contest this year it's probably going to come top 3 in the final. Cookies N Beans - Burning Flags: Much prefer this one to Skyline, especially liking the strings. Sadly it has got no hope. It's definitely a lot better than the similar sounding Abalone Dots entry from last year, more rhythmic and the chorus is punchier. Jay-Jay Johanson - Paris: Yeah, it may well come 8th but I really like it! It's got an air of A Place To Stay about it, which I also loved, but this is even more intriguing. Such a shame it'll be completely lost on most. Mary N'Diaye - Gosa: This would probably do better in the German selection, can't see Sweden taking to it at all. It sounds alright in it's studio form even if the chorus is incredibly annoying. Goodness knows what it'll sound like tonight though! Eric Gadd – Vi kommer aldrig att förlora: This could do alright actually as it's the only song in the heat that will appeal to a certain audience. I personally don't like it, but AC is definitely not out of the question for it. YOHIO - Heartbreak Hotel: This is pretty decent, probably will join David in going to the final. There's always a token rock track in the final and I assume this is probably as close to rock as we'll get this year. Anna Järvinen – Porslin: I fail to see what is apparently so special about this. It's pleasant enough, but it's 4th place at best here for her I'd say. I suppose there's a chance she could do a Caroline af Ugglas but she doesn't have the endearing craziness Caroline had in 2009 and therefore I think this will just come across as incredibly boring. Michael Feiner & Caisa – We’re Still Kids: I'm not a big fan of the saxophone, but this is my second favourite of the bunch. How well it will do depends on how good Caisa is at singing live. It could easily do a Hanna Lindblad/The Attic/Marie Serneholt and completely flop. Overall, a shockingly poor first heat compared to the last 4 years. There's a number of decent tracks, but there's nothing incredibly special here.
February 2, 201312 yr 1. Gosa / FUN + ! L M A O her face when the elevator doors open. 2. Vi kommer aldrig att förlora / Surprisingly amazing. The piano piece in the chorus is gorgeous. --- 3. Heartbreak Hotel / I just love Yohio's whole image and style and his voice too. The song is good, definitely going through - no doubt about that. 4. Porslin / It's really nice. If Anna calms her nerves tonight then her performance will probably be good. And I already like the song. But it's not something I would be crazy about really. 5. We're Still Kids / Saxophone was good and everything but I'm not completely sold yet. --- 6. Skyline / Generic Danny etc. 7. Burning Cookies / I loved the rehearsal clip but the studio version is doing nothing at all for me right now. Sad. --- 8. Paris / Sorry I can't get into it AT ALL. It's a clear Sanningen type of song and I loved it in 2012. Overall, not as good as I expected the heat to be after hearing the 60-second rehearsal clips. :( Edited February 2, 201312 yr by パーベル
February 2, 201312 yr 1. Heartbreak Hotel - YOHIO - This is so so good - really excited for this tonight, c'mon Sweden. 2. David Lindgren - Skyline - Better than Shout It Out and should probably do very well, that chorus is very nice if nothing innovative. My top 2 males WOT. 3. Cookies N Beans - Burning Flags - Lovely little pop song, will likely break my heart but it's very strong. 4. Michael Feiner & Caisa - We're Still Kids - A good saxophone and I do really like this, there's some strong vocals, missing something though to take it above Skyline and Burning Flags, although it's close. 5. Anna Järvinen – Porslin - She has a good voice, but there's no energy to this song, and it feels a little slow. 6. Eric Gadd - Vi kommer aldrig att förlora - Like Porslin, nice but nothing special, nice piano chords. 7. Mary N'Diaye - Gosa - A big huge wild mess for me. She really should have entered Big Dreamer. 8. Jay Jay Johnson - Paris - A little boring and disappointing. 8th with a bullet. PREDIX: Direkt: YOHIO, David Lindgren (seem the most obvious top 2, never mind that they're my faves) AC: Michel Feiner & Caisa, Eric Gadd 5th: Anna Jarvinen 6th: Cookies N Beans 7th: Mary N'Diaye 8th: Jay Jay
February 2, 201312 yr Gosa - I didn't particularly care for 'Big Dreamer', but this is exuberant, potentially irritating and I think it's brilliant. Heartbreak Hotel - I can take this type of rock. Normally the type of vocal I hate, but the melody of the vocal lines seems like a typically female one so somehow it works? I'm not sure I can even explain properly, but it feels genuinely emotive, sort of like Evanescence or something. Vi kommer aldrig att förlora - now this IS the type of vocal I hate. But the instrumentation is a bit bonkers and I kind of love it. Paris - a bit like a tango, sort of a smoky torch song - peculiarly charming. We're Still Kids - normally, I love a bit of saxophone, but this seems a bit cheap somehow. Still an enjoyable tune. Skyline - generic tosh. Less annoying chorus than last year, but I still find NOTHING special here. Porslin - nice voice, pleasant song, snooze button Burning Flags - a bit more life than these things normally have, some nice little dramatic frissons, but still not welcome. Not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Guessing YOHIO and David will go Direkt, with Gadd and Anna to AC.
February 2, 201312 yr YAY! Love the huge deal that was made out of Euphoria's Eurovision win, a snapshot of it at #1 on iTunes UK would have been the icing on the cake!
February 2, 201312 yr A Swedish version of Euphoria?! :o This is an excellent start - loved those recaps.
February 2, 201312 yr David Lindgren really makes me cringe, the way he acts, because he just doesn't look at all 'cool'.
