21. Espen // Trevor Something - Summer Love

22. Bignia-Zaragovina // Shura – Touch

23. Florina // Halsey - New Americana

24. Altyr Muunilinst // Rae Morris ft. Fryars - Cold

25. Skall // Air France With Roos - GBG Belongs To Us

Skall's second entry in the countdown comes from the hugely joyous, infectious, feel-good Air France. Far from the pinnacle of what they're capable of, but i grew to really fall in love with the band this year and had to sacrifice my 12 points for them to take flight when the time came. Altyr's chilling tones return for the final time with 'Cold' featuring Fryars - don't even THINK about saying this is your second worst entry or something crazy like that!? An almost-d'yermak'erian(?) entry from Halsey is next, and it became not only Florina's biggest hit in the contest, but also the biggest and best for me too; a soaring power ballad, enough to rival the Royals on top of the official charts. My love-dislike relationship with Bignia continued throughout this year but thankfully the love was big, strong and gorgeous at times, most particularly in this, with a video to match. And finally a shock non-top 20 entry for me, it was cruelly denied a place in the final too. But Trevor might have something else to say later on~

19. Cadelicia // Tritonal feat. Phoebe Ryan - Now Or Never

20. #00274E // Paces feat. Erin Marshall - Julian

Kicking off the top 20 is #numbers' best and most underrated entry perhaps since i started. It completely went ignored in the contest it was entered in, but has remained in my affections ever since. A trippy, sexy, beast. And a decent song. And then comes Cadelicia with one of the killer DNQs of the year - a stunning vocal accompanied with a soaring instrumental. How this failed in the contest is beyond me, but i was ready with ALL my points so i only hope it makes up for it in the rejects contest. Justice really is now or never.

17. Umiiruka // VÉRITÉ - Strange Enough

18. Ramrynia // Indiana - Solo Dancing

Gahh mortal enemy Ramrynia kept on bringing the good tunes this year :@ 'Solo Dancing' wasn't the bravest entry Ryan has sent but it's easily one of the best and shot up in my affections and points score. The follow up single from her didn't wow me as much so for now she remains a solo hit wonder. And it was love at first listen from here today, gone tomorrow nation Umiiruka, who introduced us to VÉRITÉ who went on to become out country's very own most recent entry; an a ~rare~ moment of cheapness, i could not resist following up Umii's top 10 smash with another corker from the songstress. Definitely one to watch in the future!

15. Allecian // Punk Party feat. Kelly Sweet - You and I

16. Unovia // Aura Dione – Breathe

Starting off here with my favourite entry from Unovia, way back from January. I've been playing it often since then and i adore the simplicity of the lyrics and vocals - there's something about tracks called Breathe being entered into the contest and being amazing (probably because i've sent two with that name :kink:). And that's followed by artist stealing/all-round whore LexGurl. The track sounded like a winner to me, but obviously with the curse of the Mex behind it, it only managed a mid table finish in the big finale. A huge pop-power-ballad-trance number, it's got everything going for it.

13. Utopia // Doss - The Way I Feel

14. Varakë // Bipolar Sunshine - Drowning Butterflies

Varakë, who have been much quieter this year, are still able to send absolute gems and they did not disappoint with my favourite track from Bipolar Sunshine. Slick vocals, a thumping beat and an undeniable chorus. And in the same contest, Utopia introduced us to Doss here with 'The Way I Feel Tonight' a joyous, infectious dance stomper - the EP it came from was similarly as enlightening and i'm gutted i didn't give this the maximum attention it deserved at the time.

11. Persephonia // TĀLĀ – Serbia

12. Bignia-Zaragovina // RHODES - Your Soul

And the two tracks just missing out on the top 10 come from Bignia and Persephonia Lol. Bignia bears their soul with this haunting track from Rhodes, who are surely destined for big things in the future? Persephonia bring the first of two tracks from indie-queen TĀLĀ - here the ferocious 'Serbia' took me by storm and kick-started my adoration for her. She went to new highs as the top 10 will show, but Bra proved he knows how to pick them out before anyone else. V rinsmash~

09. Daehun // Oh, Be Clever - Next To You

10. Republic Of Adonia // Josef Salvat - Open Season

Daehun's THIRD (but is it final?) track in this top 40 is the hugely, explosive 'Next To You'. A complete powerhouse of vocals, it shows just how the nation vowed to not hold back this year. It was one of around 600 songs i heard from Yu this year, but it was definitely adoration at first listen and he can sniff out a hit like no other imo. And it follows a track from a former D'yermak'er veteran, Josef Salvat. An artist destined to be huge in the real world. 'Open Season' is daring, seductive and powerful, not only managing to muster up the easiest 12 points of the year for us to hand out, but it soared past the competition and went on to WIN the latest contest. And it's easy to see why. This is Josef in his prime and as he so fittingly says in the song, "we're only at the start".

07. Botanikka // TALA - Alchemy

08. Kluminican Republic // LIZ - XTC

TĀLĀ's second appearance comes paired with one of the strangest highlights/growers of the year for me. Both of these songs, in the same contest were vowing for my top points but it was TĀLĀ that edged it at the time just as she's done so now. It did it through the insane screams that appear throughout it, the whimsical melody of the first minute, and the orgasmic shift into the opening chorus. Chilling with every listen. One for those lonely drunken walks back home. And it narrowly comes ahead of Klum Rep's playful, seedy attempt at seduction. A raucous little song packed with such bite, vigor and downright nastiness - all of which makes me love it all the more. The plucky vocals, cheeky lyrics and swaggy swagness. It grabbed me on first listen, but continued to level up with every listen since. I'd play it all day if i could. B-)

6. New Caprica // Tinashe – Vulnerable

I really wasn't sure how to include this here. It's perhaps the best song to be entered into the contest for me, but so much so that i no longer associate it with the contest. I also cruelly overlooked it at the time, and only rediscovered it when the artist in question began to blow up, and so for my favourite BJSC entries of the year, i've demoted it slightly - the remaining songs in the top 5 captured me from first listen in their respective contests. But regardless, 'Vulnerable' is just that - it is Tinashe spooling in a horrific duet with Travi$ Scott to the point where you want to race into the song and rescue her. It's at the same time deeply terrifying but also so enticing.

5. Daehun // CL - MTBD (멘붕 (MANBOOB))

The final entry from Daehun cracks into the top 5 in almighty style. What started as a little in-joke turned into one of the biggest moments of the BJSC year. The birth and erecting of the MANBOOB. Was it cheap? Was it uninpsired? Who cares when the music is this damn good. Hugely explosive, dynamic and a heap of fun, CL's solo ran deep in my affections throughout the month as i abandoned even my own entry to offer all my love, support and hiipe for the Manboob. Here's hoping they keep the milky hits coming next year <3

Well done Daehun, taking all entries into consideration you are our favourite nation of 2014 and this was your best. Truly the NDNTN of '14.
