Finishing in fourth position is the most recent single by Rihanna, "Stay", featuring upcoming talent Mikky Ekko. The reason for the song's high position here is mainly down to its single status at the time of compiling this rate, I would imagine, as as much as I like it as a song, it's nowhere near Rihanna's best. It is a lovely song though, telling the tale of ANOTHER of Rihanna's lost loves (god, she gets around, doesn't she?!) Two music videos were released for the song - the one above featuring Mikky Ekko, and the uncut version, featuring Rihanna alone in the bath (and at times deciding to sing a line or two). The song frustrating peaked at #4 in the UK on multiple occasions, but managed to go one higher in the US following a beautiful performance at the Grammy Awards.

'Stay' has got WAY too high.

YES. VASTLY overrated.

I think it was probably helped by being the only remotely viable option for an 11 on a godawful album. #blametheo

True. I think I rated 'Stay' the highest from the album. Wish I hadn't now. Poor 'Only Girl (In the World)'. I should've rated 'Pour It Up' the highest. :drama:

Anyway, considering everything, the top 3 is still really impressive - even if WHYB shouldn't be there when OG and MD and 'Unfaithful' missed out.

This needs to have an 'Umbrella' VS 'We Found Love' top 2.

I think it was probably helped by being the only remotely viable option for an 11 on a godawful album. #blametheo

Exactly. I rated it a 11 because I do really love it and it is miles ahead of everything else on the album, but it should not be nearly that high.

Stay is flawless I think 4th is about where I would rate it If I had my own way

If I had to guess I'd say

3. Where Have You Been?

2. Umbrella

1. We Found Love

I think:

1. We Found Love

2. Where Have You Been

3. Umbrella

But it should be:

1. We Found Love

2. Umbrella

3. Where Have You Been

Tbh the top two are interchangable imo. 'Umbrella' and 'We Found Love' have both had the title of being Rihanna's biggest-hit to date and signature song so either of the two deserve to win. I feel that 'Where Have You Been' is just another above-average Rihanna hit - nothing stand-out.

In at seven is the final song to not feature Rihanna on lead vocals, "Take Care" by Drake, from his album of the same name, which samples Jamie xx's remix of Gil Scott Heron's "I'll Take Care of You" (I hope I got that bit right!). It's a great house song, again telling the tale of love between Rihanna and her lover (in this instance, Drake). It became a UK top 10 hit upon the release of the album, giving Rihanna simultaneous top ten hits with a song which is yet to appear here. It also became a Billboard top 10 hit, and finished within the top 25 of 2012.

1. Atonement has ehh taste as 'What's My Name?' is still one of her best.

2. Chris was right about 'Stay' as the rest of the album ranges from mediocre to poor.

3. 'Umbrella' is awful, not 'Unfaithful' awful but still overrated.

I think i appreciate the existence of Umbrella more than I actually like the song. says a lot that it's still the defining song of her career.
Sorry that this is not yesterday/Tuesday! My laptop was having issues! Here's the #3 though, and hopefully I'll post the top two tonight...

And so the joint-least divisive song (with #2 and #92) is "Where Have You Been", the fourth single lifted from the Talk That Talk project, finishing in 3rd place. It is generally regarded as equal or slightly inferior to lead single "We Found Love" (still to come), which was to be expected, as both tracks are produced by mega-producer Calvin Harris. When released as a single last summer, with it came the incredible video which you can see above, which featured Rihanna's first proper dance routine in absolutely ages! The song peaked at #6 for three consecutive weeks (devil!!!) in the UK last summer, and at #5 in the US.
And so the joint-least divisive song (with #2 and #92) is "Where Have You Been"

Going by this statement, I'm presuming 'Umbrella' is #2.

Where Have You Been is quite possibly my 2nd best Rihanna song ever after Rude Boy, perfection.
Where Have You Been is UTTER PERFECTION. You can't fault it! It's such a brilliant song.
The time is here... Your favourite Rihanna song is about to be revealed! But first - what was your #2...?

Finishing in second place is the fantastic summer pop anthem that is "Umbrella"! First released all the way back in 2007, the infectious pop song instantly earwormed its way into everyone's affections, shooting straight to #1 in the UK to become Rihanna's first #1 hit, and in great style too, spending a massive 10 consecutive weeks there, the joint-sixth most of any song ever. It performed similarly in the US, where after month's of climbing and an impressive 41-1 jump, it spent 7 weeks at #1 there, becoming her second Billboard #1 hit.

As stated previously, this song was the joint-least divisive of all songs in the rate, and unfortunately loses out to the mammoth that is "We Found Love"...

So there we have it! Achieving an impressive NINETEEN scores of 11 (and only six in total less than 10) and storming the competition by absolutely miles is the Calvin Harris-produced dance anthem that is "We Found Love". Released in the autumn of 2011, it was a refreshing new side to Rihanna, and one that would influence chart music in general for the next twelve months. The lyric says it all really in terms of content, but the musical video is pretty beautifully put-together (and caused a fair bit of controversy when an Irish farmer spotted a topless Rihanna filming scenes for it in his field!) It is truly testament to Rihanna's career than her style can still evolve that much six years into her career, that she can spend yet another marathon run at #1 on both sides of the pond (6 in the UK, 10 in the US; both non-consecutively) and for the song to still sound fresh, some eighteen months later! I imagine we'll be hearing great tunes like this for many years to come, and the inevitable greatest hits will surely be a colossal success.
