Rudebox has hooks though, the chorus itself is a hook. The 80's and 90's are just him rapping (or talking) badly.

So far I like Rudebox, Lovelight, Viva Life On Mars, She's Madonna, Bongo Bong, Never Touch That Switch ^_^ The rap ones are just messy though imo :( But that's almost half of the album I like - I'll perserve :D

OK, add Good Doctor, The Actor and Louise to the Like list ^_^

I love the Actor more each time I listen to it. The women sounds very like Madge -_-

Glad you like Louise. I have always loved the Human Leugue original and I think his voice really suit it ^_^ Summertime is a lovely relaxing tune to close the album, well until Dickhead comes on that is

well, that is 9 out of 16 Slick that you like. You are on your way, hopefully you will add a few more after a few more listens.

I'm listening to the album for the first time.

I'm up to "The 80's" and I think this album is pretty great so far, a MASSIVE improvement on the dull & uninspired (IMHO) Intensive Care.

It could even replace Life Thru The Lens as my favourite Robbie album. :cheer:

Yes, definatly. I did'nt know what to make of many of the songs on first listen  But now I've heard it really loud on the stereo several times I think it's amazing

Monday, 23 October 2006 The day Robbie Williams fans have been waiting for as it's the release day of his latest album Rudebox

German fans are in for a special treat as coinciding with this event is a joint promotion with Energy trams where Robbie Williams new album will be promoted all over the carriages of this new music tram

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v354/shellspeare/NRJ_MUSIKTRAM.jpg

For the first time the Energy is Zurich Musiktram is on its way around the city.

A premiere for Zurich. The Energy Zurich Musiktram circles from 11 to 20 o'clock on the round course between Bellevue Buerkliplatz Bahnhofstrasse Central university Bellevue by the city. The passengers can also travel free of charge.

The action is accomplished together with Sunrise Musicworld, Infowing, Dataquest, the VBZ and EMI Music.

Thanks to www.purerobbie.com

I'm a bit confused after reading this article.

Is this tram in Germany or in Switzerland or both?

At first it says "German fans", but the only city mentioned is Zurich, which is defenitely in Switzerland.

Anyway, it seems there is more promo everywhere compared to the UK which is both sad and shocking. Really dunno what those EMI people are thinking. <_<

McFly to topple My Chemical Romance

24 October 2006 - 11:16:16

McFly are poised to replace My Chemical Romance at the top of the singles chart this week, after early sales reports indicate Star Girl (Island) is outselling all comers since its release yesterday.

Girls Aloud’s much-fancied Something Kinda Ooooh (Fascination) looks destined to settle for the runner-up slot, with stiff competition from Fedde Le Grand’s Put Your Hands Up For Detroit (Data), which rises from last week’s position of 79 to three.

Beyonce’s Irreplaceable (Columbia) and The View’s Superstar Tradesman (1965) both rise into the Top 10, with Amy Winehouse’s Rehab (Island) and The Magic Number’s Take A Chance (Heavenly) fighting to break into the upper tier.

Other likely Top 30 entries will come from The Kooks (Virgin), The Long Blondes (Rough Trade), The Raconteurs (XL), Rihanna (Def Jam) and Bodyrox feat. Luciana (UMTV).

A wealth of new entries in the album chart Top Ten is set to give the market a 22% boost, with new entries from John Legend (Columbia), Rod Stewart (J), Meat Loaf (Mercury), My Chemical Romance (Warner Bros) all being pipped by Robbie Williams, whose Rudebox (Chrysalis), sold 20,000 copies more than its nearest rival on its release yesterday.

The Ordinary Boys’ How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted (B-Unique/Polydor) will narrowly miss out on a Top 10 placing, while albums from Pet Shop Boys (Parlophone), Meat Loaf’s Best Of (Sony TV/Virgin) and Elaine Paige (UMTV/W14) will settle for entries outside the Top 40.

:cheer: :cheer: THANK YOU LINZ :cheer: :cheer:

Brilliant news. I feel much better now :yahoo:

Rudebox has sold over 50k by the end of Monday

Hoping it will do over 200k for the week

Excellent...what a relief
:cheer: Thanks for the sales figures! The boys doing fine

I didn't expect this to achieve th first weeks sales of Intensive Care - we had all waited so long for that release. I am pleased with these first reports :)

However I think Rudebox has a chance of a much longer chart run than IC. It will attract new fans over time with its diversity. There are some really great tracks on this album :D

Ok I know it's great news that it will be his 8th #1 album  but I never had a doubt it would be #1. I had my fingeres crossed all day long that it would have sold around 100k yesterday. 55k is great but IC sold nearly 3 times that in the first day. This album deserved to sell a hell if alot more IMO but that's the UK charts for you. I mean Mcfly are #1 in the singles chart. That says it all really

Well done though, Rob. For an album with so little promo to hopefully sell over 200k first week is great :yahoo:

55k by his standards isn't that good yes.it will probably do 175k-200k first week.

And like scotty said for an album that hasn't really been hyped at all. Those sales are very respectable.

Robbie heading for number one spot

(Tuesday October 24, 2006 01:09 PM)

Robbie Williams is heading for the top of the charts with his new album - but sales are significantly down on his last effort.

Rudebox is on course to shift close to 200,000 albums by the end of the week, according to industry estimates.

Williams is on target to make the number one spot this Sunday, comfortably outselling his nearest rivals.

But it is a far cry from his last album, Intensive Care, which gave the pop star his highest ever first week sales of 373,832.

Rudebox has received mixed reviews from the critics, with one dubbing it "his strangest album to date" and another calling it an "absolute howler".

The title track reached only number four in the singles chart.

But the news is not all bad.

Rudebox will become Williams' eighth solo number one album - a feat matched only by David Bowie for a British artist.

HMV's Gennaro Castaldo said: "If Robbie delivers his eighth UK solo number one, he will match David Bowie and go only two behind Elvis Presley.

"It will also be his 11th number one in total if you include his success with Take That. It reaffirms Robbie's position as the UK's number one artist, and there's every chance he will match and then overtake Elvis's longstanding record with his future releases."
