To be honest, I didn't expect it to sell more than 150 k after those midweeks.

It is low, shockingly low actually...

But I'll moan about that tomorrow, today I just want to celebrate the no. 1 ! :yahoo:

I dread tomorrow's press :(

I expect him to be on the front of the Mirror :arrr: I mean they expected him to sell 200k and called that a flop so now they are going to have a field day

Dont think them figures are accurate -- check yahoo chart commentary?

God, Scotty, you're depressing me...

But the sad thing is, you're probably right. :puke2: :arrr:

Lower sales for the album may have something to do with the fact that he's been away from the UK for so long - England being left till near the end of the tour

Its ridiculous that some people would not buy the album because of that but that's how fickle some people can be...but I will imagine that it will continue to sell right up to xmas...it definetly needs more promotion in the UK though even if Rob's not to be there himself

I dont think that EMI are promoting the record enough on his own turf and his English audience feel a bit left behind......

It's the UK press to blame as well. All this bad press is clearly putting those who disliked Rudebox single off :arrr:

God I hate the UK press so much :puke2:

EMI are an even bigger joke. They just expect the album to walk off the bloody shelves without promo

We can only hope the album sales pick up in the coming weeks :cheer:

He is #1 anyway and has sold more than Justin "biggest pop star on the planet by arse" Timberlake

Personally I loved Rudebox and thought it was a good way to launch an alternative sound but it wasnt to some people's taste that prefer a more mainstream pop sound from Robbie but its good that he decided not to conform and do something different and Im still convinced that it will be high up on the xmas charts....

Another point is that with the track Rudebox not being as widely received as one would have liked...and subsequent bad (unfair) press it got ....I think the fact (although this again illustrates how stupid some folk are..!) that the album sold under the same name hasnt helped it..silly but true

For some people who dont bother to find out...once they heard its rap or its dance or its this or that...that made up their minds for them..I read somewhere that someone said they didnt want "Robot Robbie" hence the electro sound but hopefully once the word spreads around about what a fantastic album this is...peeps will change their minds.

Its still number one though - may sell more next wk..sometimes happens when there is a buzz about something

Records - singles and albums can often sell at fast and slow rates but still shift millions of units!

it definetly needs more promotion in the UK though even if Rob's not to be there himself

Yeah, we've been saying that for ages. Not that anyone's listening. Why do important people at EMI not read on here...?

Any bet that most other countries will have better sales compared to the UK.

Well he is gone platinum in Oz with Rudebox in the first wk and has a total of 5 of his albums in the Australian Charts at the moment!

Oh I expect sales to be huge outside the UK especially in Germany, where all the promo went. Don't get me wrong. I love the fact that he sells massive amount outside the UK but they are forgetting his own country. Other artists actually promote their albums. They don't expect them to walk off the shelves. Bloody EMI :arrr:

If it sells huge amounts outside the UK then that will make me alot happier

We can only hope sales pick up next week. If the talentless Girls Aloud beat him then something has got to be done with the awful UK Chart :arrr:
Maybe 300,000 copies have been sold by CD-Wow!

CDwow have been promoting Rudebox (amongst other chart albums) on the mails they send me, at a good price.

I would love to know what the sales figurs are like for these non-UK based on-line sites.

If they refuse to let them count for the official chart, a separate chart for them would be fascinating.

I agree. It is only £6.99 on cd-wow and is #1. LOADS of people use CDWOW, so I actually think their sales are pretty big ^_^

Shame we don't know them

Take an artist like Madonna - some of her albums like Ray Of Light and American Life sold in the region of 155k

Now she would be considered a big act but neither of those 2 albums sold a hefty amount - neither were promoted that much by her record label when compared with Confessions On a Dancefloor which has been a much bigger success for her in the UK.

It just goes to show that even the top acts like Robbie Williams and Madonna need to constantly promote their work and not take anything for granted.

Lets wait though for official sales figures for Rudebox - dont take as gospel what you read on other sites - they can often be mis-informed about chart trivia
