Maybe cd-wow is'nt very big in the US

If you got all the the online USA sales for Rob he would be #1

Everything is a con. The sales are all a con. All the charts are a con. I'm seriously displeased. :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:
Because Media Traffic only counts sales in certain countries and sales from most of the on-line retailers aren't counted anywhere. (I'm not talking about the sales of your beloved Girls Aloud by the way. I'm talking about Robbie's Global Sales).

Robbie Williams debuts on top of the European Top 100 Albums chart with his new studio set 'Rudebox' (Chrysalis). It`s new at No. 1 in the United Kingdom on sales of 147,000, a dramatic drop on the initial 373,000 units sold of its predecessor 'Intensive Care' in the same week last year.

Nevertheless, 'Rudebox' racks up six other European No. 1 debuts, only one less than the total achieved by 'Intensive Care.' It leads the way in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and Finland, also entering at No. 2 in Holland and Ireland and No. 3 in France. 'Rudebox' is up from 14 to 3 and from 20 to 4 in the Belgian regions of Flanders and Wallony respectively.

Meat Loaf strides back on to Top 100 Albums at No. 2 with 'Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose' (Mercury). The set`s best debut is at No. 2, behind Williams, in Germany, and it`s in at No. 3 in the United Kingdom on sales of 79,000, No. 4 in Switzerland and No. 5 in Denmark and Austria. "It`s All Coming Back To Me Now," his duet from the album with Marion Raven, falls 14-18 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.

After three weeks atop the pan-European album chart, Evanescence slides to No. 3 with 'The Open Door' (Wind-Up). My Chemical Romance makes good on the promise of the hit single "Welcome To The Black Parade" (Reprise) with a No. 4 composite debut for the parent album 'The Black Parade.'

In The United Kingdom, where the single falls to No. 4 after two weeks at the top, the album takes a bow at No. 2 on sales of 85,000. It`s also new at No. 4 in Austria and No. 5 in Ireland.

John Legend`s 'Once Again' (Columbia) gives the American R&B singer a confident No. 8 start in Europe. The album arrives at No.4 in Holland, No. 5 in Italy (where the single "Save Room" is new at No. 6) and No. 10 in the United Kingdom.

Such a busy week of new entries means that, although Rod Stewart enters at No. 9 overall with his U.S. chart-topper 'Still The Same...Great Rock Classics Of Our Time' (J), he`s only the fifth highest newcomer of the week. The album opens at No. 4 in the United Kingdom, selling 51,000 copies.

Outside the composite top ten, the hottest mover is 'A Collection of Roxette Hits' (Capitol), which moves from 46 to 13 for the Swedish duo. The compilation is new at No. 2 in their home country, where the single "One Wish" is new at No. 4.

On the Eurochart, Scissor Sisters` "I Don`t Feel Like Dancin`" (Polydor) starts a fifth week at No. 1. It now climbs from 2 to 1 in Switzerland, from 6 to 2 in Sweden, from 7 to 4 in Italy and from 6 to 4 in Denmark, holding at No. 1 in Flanders, No. 2 in Norway and No.3 in Holland.

British boy band McFly has the top Eurochart debut with 'Star Girl' (Universal Island), in at No. 7 after becoming the trio`s sixth U.K. No. 1 on sales of 54,000. Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grande is in at No.10 on the Eurochart with 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' (Data), after it sold 46,000 units for a No. 2 U.K. debut.

Really then, if on-line sales don't count towards the Charts, what is the point of having a Chart at all, in the future most sales will be made on the internet, so it all seems pointless not to count every download and album bought in this way.

Its very frustrating.

So, are we happy with no. 2 in the UK this week ?

I guess we have to be.

Any big albums out this week that will make the Top 3 for sure ? I'm hoping that Rudebox can hold the position for another week. It should get inreasingly difficult to stay in the top 3 or even top 5 as there are loads of big albums out soon, like George Michael, Oasis, TT, ...

Fingers crossed Rudebox won't drop like a stone with that competition :puke2:

Hi loves,

Charts = media busniss.....it's a measure instrument.....but it doesn't clearify WHY RW is just THE BEST??

Nope...... we know and he knows....it could have been engough but EMI won't go for that!!!

I really wish that RW gets out the albums for EMi a.s.a.p. ...then he wil be free to do what he wants!!!

We'll be here to support him, won' t we????

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I thought he was doing what he wants Ziggy with Rudebox, EMI have gone all out with various websites for this project in support of Robbie's idea's and it is a very good concept too and should have taken the UK by storm, unfortunately is hasn't. His large casual fan base are not supporting Robbie on this album or, perhaps they have all switched their aligence to TT.

Is it time for Robbie to do his last album under the EMI contract with Guy Chambers? I think it is.

Is it time for Robbie to do his last album under the EMI contract with Guy Chambers? I think it is.

I don't think so. I prefer to see experimentation, finding himself as an artist and a new sound -even if that means lower sales . If he is doing what he likes he will be happier.

I think it helps that I really do like this album. Maybe if he goes more and more into rap in the future I may change my mind. But if he is doing what he wants, and has an audience for that style (albeit smaller than before), then he has no need to return to a style he may feel he's outgrown.

The alternative just seem like a Westlife option, chase the sales with output becoming ever blander - with little artistic input/integrity. I really can't believe that they like all the songs they are singing.

I agree with Dory on this one, rob's moving on, experimenting ........... and I love it

to be honest rudebox turns out to be my fav rob album ever, I loved the old rob but I'm loving the new one even more

as for the TT aligence, I never liked TT (not even with rob) and I'm not going to start liking them now

UK acts dominate album sales list (bbc.co.uk/news)

Robbie Williams took three Platinum Adwards in 2006

British acts have so far dominated the European album market in 2006, according to industry figures.

Artists such as The Kooks, Sugababes and Katie Melua have scooped 19 of the year's 36 IFPI Platinum Awards for selling one million copies or more.

The top performer was Robbie Williams who took three awards, including one for his latest album, Rudebox, which sold two million copies in one week.

The US had 12 acts on the list, including UK-signed Scissor Sisters.

The British Phonographic Institute (BPI) said the results underlined the current boom in new British music. Six of the 19 UK Platinum Award winners are 2006 releases.

Euro Top Sellers

1. Robbie Williams - Greatest Hits - 5m

2. James Blunt - Back to Bedlam - 5m

3. Robbie Williams - Intensive Care - 5m

4. Coldplay - X&Y - 4m

5. Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor - 4m

BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson said: "These latest figures confirm that we are going through a golden age for new British music, even by our own high standards.

"The success UK music is enjoying today bodes well for future years because, as ever in music, it's the hits of today which pay for the hits of tomorrow."

He also said the UK's haul of Platinum Awards for 2006 is likely to go even higher when releases by Arctic Monkeys, Snow Patrol, Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane and Razorlight are finally calculated.

A Platinum Award is given for any album which exceeds one million sales, or a multiple thereof, within the given period.

I don't really get this

Last march both IC and James Blunt's album were certified 5x plat. Obviously neither have hit 6 million in Europe yet so James Blunt reported sales of 10 million are way off surely

either way both artists Robbie and James have done remarkably well. Robbie especially, fantastic to read that he had two entries and was the top artist. :cheer:

rather sadly Sky News had a report on how well British artists are doing in Europe, as you can guess no mention of Robbie, just mentioned the new bands, although they did show a clip of him performing.

Where is Robbie's PR company. I am getting really, really pissed off. He IS the top artist in Europe, it says so in black and white and they don't feed that information to the news channels.

Geez , swearing like a trooper I am. :puke2: :puke2:

I know. I just read a report on a Music website headed something like 'Coldplay's Amazing Success'.

It went on to say how Coldplay had sold an amazing 8 million albums in Europe bla bla (big photo).

Then mid-para it says 'The top selling album act in Europe was Robbie Williams'.

So why wasn't the article headed 'Robbie's Amazing Success'?

Am I getting paranoid?

No Jupiter you are not getting paranoid.

I don't get it either. Here we have top UK acts wiping the floor across Europe, and beyond, and the biggest selling one of all, doesn't get the reviews on TV and media for it.

Are they bloody blind or something, plus this report comes from Peter Jamieson of the BPI, who have a big input to the Brits. Lets hope he remembers this report when the nominations come around and more importantly at "gong" time, because Robbie would deserve something.

here you are Jupiter especially for you and to Robbie's PR team. This is how to do it!

ROBBIE WILLIAMS LEADS BRIT MILLION SELLERS

UK Acts Lead Platinum List

Robbie Williams currently leads the top European sellers list this year according to the BPI. The singer shifted 12 millions units of his three albums - 'Greatest Hits', 'Intensive Care' and 'Rudebox'.

Robbie was well ahead of his nearest rival, Coldplay who sold 4 million copies of both 'Parachutes' and 'X&Y' although ex-grunt James Blunt sold more of a single album than any other artist with his 'Back to Bedlam' debut topping the 5 million mark.

Of the 36 IFPI Platinum Awards this year - given for million selling albums - UK acts scooped more than half although the list is unlikely to be complete as several new releases including Razorlight, Snow Patrol and the Arctic Monkeys have yet to be factored in.

The list includes artists who span over 40 years of Brit-Pop history from The Rolling Stones with 'A Bigger Bang' and more recent rising stars such as The Kooks with thier million-seller 'Inside In/Inside Out'.

British artists dominate Euro music sales

Thu Nov 9, 2006 12:00 PM GMT edited

LONDON (Reuters) - British acts dominated the list of top-selling bands and artists across Europe this year heralding a "golden age" for the country's music scene, the UK record industry's trade association said on Thursday.

Performers such as Coldplay, The Kooks, Katie Melua and the Kaiser Chiefs scooped 19 out of 36 Platinum awards given to artists selling more than one million copies of an album across Europe, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) said.

U.S. artists took 12 of the awards run by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, including two for the Scissor Sisters who are signed to a UK label.

Robbie Williams was the most successful UK performer, receiving awards for three separate albums whose total sales exceeded 12 million.

It's extremely frustrating that the UK reports don't focus on Rob's achievement enough, but it doesn't surprise me. It just doesnt fit into their current theme of telling everybody how Rob's career is on the wane...
