I am assuming those sales are overall sales of Beautiful World since its release...not albums sold in one week....thats impossible surely.

The TT album is defo not for me!

I could not even complete listening to it. Shocking to make a judgement on just listening to 6 songs on an album. I reackon it will take me to the New Year to want to pick it up and listen to the others and no I didn't buy it, it was given to me as a gift because they thought I would like it because it has a link to Robbie, well, how wrong they were  I never bought a TT album when Robbie was in it. Why would I want it now.

It is such a shame that fans of Robbie are not trusting him but trusting what the papers say. I was not a 'Rudebox' single lover myself but the album is good and gets to be very, very good a couple of listens in. How can anyone say they are a fan of his and not buy an album

and I will tell you this, Rudebox performed Live is one of the best sounds Robbie has produced on stage. It is amazing and I am pleased to say that in Australia it has brought in alot of the younger people to him.

I never thought that Rudebox would sell anymore at Xmas time than it did initially. It is not for the everyday casual buyer who bought the standard type of Robbie album, but then I have been called pessimistic before. The vibe for Robbie at the moment and probably since Intensive Care has not been there for him in the UK. I am surprised his PR could not suss it out. I did, why didn't they?

Do you think the reason that Robbie is not popular in the UK at the moment is due to over exposure & releasing too many albums too quickly or do you think people are just not interested in him anymore. I also think Rudebox is great but then again I look forward to the release of all his albums & would probably buy them anyway. I think people are missing out by not buying this album.

I just think that being at the top for ten years and producing 8 No.1 albums it is a natural progression to go. To reach 'superstar' status like Robbie the popularity is there but the album sales start to slide and it usually happens when they reach the ten year mark, ie 'superstars' George Michael, Elton John, David Bowie, Rod Stewart.

He should never have released Rudebox this year. I have my own views of why he did and yes, like you Tessa I am looking forward to his next project, although I will be very nervous how successful that will be, my guess is that the majority of fans are waiting for him to get back with Guy and if that should happen you bet then the album will fly off the shelves.

I think that Robbie likes doing what he is doing now without GC - I think he felt before that any ideas that he himself had when he worked with GC were turned into something else in the final product & he was not very happy with the result. I cannot see him going back to that.

I hope he continues to make lots of more albums & continues as well to perform live.I really love his stuff & Rudebox is one of the few albums that I play all the way through. His big letdown on this album was releasing it while he was at the other side of the world & with hardly any promotion by himself ( which I can understand because of the tour ). At the end of the day when it comes to selling albums people like to hear the artist on the radio & telly promoting the album, this did not happen with Rudebox so it did not sit in peoples mind. It was a missed opportunity by his management who should have known better that release a totally new type of album while he was on tour. I think they need to wake up & see the light - as far as I can see his management take Robbie for granted & expect him to do all the work.

There is another thought that because Robbie is showing a great interest in Dance music & may in general be heading in that direction anyway which would naturally mean he he would lose a lot of his old fans. Jackie, If what you say is true about the lifecycle of an Artist then Robbie may realise that he has no other option than going down a new road with music & taking a chance, if the is the case well done to him for having the courage to do so.Rudebox mat only be a taster for him & test for us of what is to come. Linking up with Fredde le Grande to me ( if it's true ) is definately heading in a new direction.

I opened my prezzies in absolute dread yesterday in case someone had bought me a copy of the TT album. Scotty will tell you, I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago and was totally horrified. It's absolutely appalling. A hideous bland-fest which had me reaching for the razor blades. I too struggled to get past half way. :puke2:

Good luck to those who like that kind of drivel but it's not for me I'm afraid. -_-

To be fair to the Guys I like the track Patience , however I have not bought the album as I am not really or ever have been a follower of Take That even when Robbie was with them, so I really dont see the competition ( if any, except in the minds of the press ) between them & treat them completely as seperate Artists.

I find Robbie's stuff way out there , far away from TT stuff if you know what I mean - they are on completely different levels. Robbie is an energetic & exciting & completely interesting artist where as TT are very level & calming - not my type - they make me wanna go to sleep & I would never buy their stuff.

I did get Sam's Town by the Killers for my Xmas though.

I love it! It's like a crazy rock/pop opera or something. :yahoo:

I must agree. I listened to the album the other day again and I just find it simply astonishing that such a bland album could sell so much. I think TT are nice lads and work very hard but the music is just so samey. I mean each song is a ballad and a more depressing one than the last at that :( I mean to think some people thought IC was bland when it came out. It is like the most exciting album in excistance when compared to this

But bland sells in the UK does'nt it?? If they had've released a load of upbeat pop songs like their brilliant older material I doubt it would've sold over 400k this week -_-

Jesus....how can they sell that many in one week. I have never been a TT fan so would never even contemplate buying it.

As for those fans who haven't bought Rudebox...well that just does my head in. How can you all call yourself a loyal fan and not be itching to buy any new material...or maybe I am just more obsessed than I thought

Suse

I love RW's stuff & always buy his albums & I had an idea what it was like before it came out because of the Press reviews, etc, however I think RW would prefer if people bought the album because they like it & not because they felt they had to.

I would not call you obsessed & I can understand your point of view.

In fairness RW has done great this year, he sells over 3.6 million ( remember the word MILLION ) tickets for his live concerts & at the same time brings out a completely different album which still made number 1 in lots of countries even though it had no promotion from Robbie & hardly any from EMI.

I think Jackie earlier on was correct in saying that Artists that are around ten years or more find that the sale of their albums decline anyway but I think overall that Robbie has to be very pleased with this year & the way Rudebox sold.

On his website he was thrilled with the reviews that he got from MOJO - UNCUT - NME & some other high profile music mags that have not given him good reviews before. I think we have a lot to look forward to & forget those who dont want to buy his albums, its their loss.

Glad to see that Rudebox has moved from 28 to 8 in the Woolworths Digital Album Charts - must be to do with the rush Xmas week, at least its going in the right direction.

What a pity we will see no promotion on this album .

LOL Scotty, I think you've been reading my mind. I was just thinking that same thing a few days back, if IC is boring I don't know what you'd call Beautiful World ... maybe dead on arrival :P In comparison IC is a masterpiece and the most exciting album ever made. I did want to give Beautiful World a fighting chance and made myself listen to it 3 times straight and I'd say by mid 2nd time around I was about to slash my wrists. Its definitely not to my taste and I much prefer TT's older songs. I too have called IC a bit boring especially after listening to Rudebox but even if IC is called boring by some its still high quality boring whereas IMO Beautiful World isn't. The other day I listened to IC from start to finish again - I haven't since Rudebox came out - and I have to say that is one great album. Its a bit down beat but now that I've listened to it properly again, I wouldn't call it boring in the least. Its absolutely VERY different to Rob's all other albums and ofcourse Rudebox but its quality quality quality all the way

In regard to the sales of Beautiful World, I don't think its because bland sells better, IMO anything would sell loads and loads just because its Take That and they've got that nostalgia thing going for them big time since the reunion tour. I also think its because some fans and media have the mentality of well its Take That its automatically good. I'm pretty certain, had it been a Robbie album it would be called BORING and unimaginative and definitely wouldn't sell that much. But TT are the IT of the moment and good for them they've definitely worked their bums off for it.

Very well said RF4L and I agree completelly. I do think 'Patience' is a good tune (although I'm really getting sick of hearing it every 5 seconds at this stage), and 'Shine' is good, so for those who have'nt heard the album, then it would seem as though it's great. But I seriously doubt the majority are satisfied with it tbh, and as you said if Rob had've released it, the critics would've all called it bland, unimaginativ, samey, unoriginal etc etc and they would be saying he was unable to write anything other than ballads and that he needed Guy back again

It wouldv've sold nowhere near as much if Rob had've released the exact same album and i'm certain about that. -_-
