And I love it as well. Just think I must be so out of step musically with the bulk of the record buying public.

I wonder was the album released as a test because afterall for an Album that had little or no promotion it has done pretty well. No 1 in a lot of Countries. I dont they would have intended to release an album so quickly after IC so maybe they justed wanted to get a feel for what people would think of the new direction that Robbie is trying to take. I think there is interesting times ahead - Robbie is not going to play safe - he has always done his own thing .

#36 in the UK is awful. Sales won't be big now that Xmas is over. It will be out of the top 40 by next week

Something needs to be done. EMI surely arent just gonna sit back and watch it fall down the chart. They need to do their bloody job proberly and promote it. -_-

It is indeed awful.

But unless they do a Rudebox/Baked Beans promotion in Asda I fear all is lost.

I think they just move on - costs too much to do any more promotion.

EMI will have made plenty money out of Robbie this year with his sellout World tour & also his DVD is selling very well. Greatest Hits I believe is still selling well so they wont complain too much.

He is still their best selling artist so I dont see them complaining too much.

I blame his management for making rubbish decisions for him - I hear him say on an interview last year with Chris Evans that its usually his management that pick the lead singles - so I wonder what happened this time.

Yes and I believe the deal Robbie struck with EMI meant they got a larger share of touring revenue and merchandising than is normal for record companies ( I remember George Michael being horrified at the time as he feared it would set a precedant for other artists).

And given that touring, not record sales, is where the big bucks are made these days, I guess EMI won't be too concerned. They will have had their pound of flesh. -_-

But they can't just give up. It has only been out 2 months. They should really promote 'She's Madonna' and get Rob to do something. Surely if he loves the album so much he is'nt just gonna sit on his arse and feel sorry for himself about it under-performing. Little effort has been put into promotion by Rob and EMI which is'nt right, especially when Rob claims sales mean so much. -_-

There are interesting times ahead with Robbie's contract with EMI finishing at some stage in the not too distant future.

Robbie is one of the very few artists who is financially in a position to go it alone as normally artists have to renew their contracts so that they can borrow cash from the record company to do another album. Its a vicious circle & one that Robbie will not find himself in, so I am hoping for great things from his site when he does go it alone.

He dosen't always have to sell number one albums & can be quite happy to just sell downloads to his fans via his website, that is why he is again emphasising the importance of people having to pay towards the site.

I think CDs should include tokens towards Tour Tickets. That would really reward the loyal fans. But I guess it wouldn't be allowed under Chart rules. <_<

Yes, Robbie has said he hates the whole record company thing and wants to go it alone so I look forward to that. Robbie has done brilliantly. He is the biggest selling British solo artst of all time, I just found that out and was shocked myself. Treuly amazing for someone only been solo for 10 years ^_^
Brilliant idea - dont know why it would be illegal - . I mean CD's are reduced in price kis a sale ( & you could call that promotion ) & are included in Chart sales. Overall I think the Chart thing is weird anyway - I mean sales via CDwow are not counted as they are not shipped from the UK - so how do we really know what the true sales of an album are. It confuses the hell out of me . Can you throw any further light on the matter.

Here are the estimates (rounded off to the neared million) of the top 5 best selling album acts ever in the UK. ^_^

1. The Beatles - 28m

2. Queen - 20.m

3. Elvis Presley - 18m

4. Madonna - 18m

5. Michael Jackson - 16.m

6. Robbie Williams - 16 million (but well over 17 million shipped and i'm not sure if the others sales are shipements, if so then Rob would be higher than MJ :o )

And not just CDWow

We have

HMV On-Line

Woolworths On-Line

CD101 On-Line

Play.com

Amazon Jersey

and god knows how many others ain't included anywhere these days.

(Probably Tesco on-line, Curry's on-Line, WH Smith On-line.

Basically any company that ships from the Channel Islands. )

Is the real numbers of an album sold then only made available to the record companies - I mean how does anyone else know as they have

no way of collecting that information .

Record company's inform company's like the IFPI, BIP etc to inform them how many albums they have shipped to shops. Rudebox has shipped around 2.5 million worldwide I think so EMI have made their money back. -_-

I'd love to know sales for cdwow etc :(

I think that's why all Platinum awards etc are based on numbers 'shipped' by record companies rather than 'over the counter' sales. At the end of the day nobody really knows the actual numbers 'sold' as there are so many outlets that aren't counted anywhere.

So I would tend to go by the Official BPI figures for the UK and the IFPI figures for Europe. Unfortunately there isn't an equivalent 'Worldwide' Agency as far as I know.

That's why Louise Walsh can come out with saying Pestlife have sold 600 million albums in Papua New Guinea and nobody can contradict him.
