From Music Week :( <_<

15 times winner Robbie Williams received no Brits nominations this year, and to add insult to injury, his latest album Rudebox dips out of the Top 75 this week. The album has fallen without respite since its release, descending 1-2-9-14-20-25-27-28-29-36-47-56-80, and has thus far sold 463,000 copies. Although upcoming single She’s Madonna should reverse its fortunes, the album’s introductory 12 week chart stint compares with 19 weeks for immediate predecessor Intensive Care and Williams’ best of 76 weeks for I’ve Been Expecting You.

So 2,500 sold last week.

Shame they did'nt mention that fact the GH climbed 100 bloody places. Oh no, always focuse on the negetive. :puke2:

Heard a good remix tonight on BBC radio 1 from Pete Tongs Friday night's show - time into show 1.1549 - ran for about 4 1/2 minutes - Remix of ' Never Touch that Switch ' - sounded great.

I think music week are going by shipments so it has shipped 600,000 in the UK, so 2.8m worldwide as of the end of 2006. At worst it's total will be 3 million. For an album that is so different and that got no promotion at all from Robbie and hardly any from EMI on TV/Radio to have sold nearly 3m in three months certainly can not be described as a flop. I think I'll email those 3AM *****es

Scotty

Sorry but you will have trouble with those 3am lasses - didnt yoy know that they are so ignorant that they cant count.

Amazing but ' Rudebox ' is still getting some very good reviews on Amazon UK - people are slowly buying it & the realising what a good album it is . - Looks like the only way this album will make any headway is by word of mouth

It's the press wot done it. <_<

Jupiter - I agree with you & I think more money should have spent on TV promotion of the album & less on so many bloody websites ( some of which I would say are hardly ever looked at now ).

People spend a lot of time looking at telly - I guess it's not sophisticated enough for EMI .

I bet they still will not have learnt any lessons from this .

I also believe that we have The Sun and The Mirror to thank for dismissing Rudebox (album) and causing the lower sales, which is a shame, why can't the public, or even his fans, trust Robbie, they are really missing out listening to this rather good album. Robbie's only mistake is to release Rudebox as the first single and really after listening to it a few times, no way is that the worst single of all time. Actually it is rather cleverly crafted.

Thanks goodness for Moyles on Radio 1 who is praising the album and the single, about time too.

The "Deutsche phono verband" listed 61 golden and platinum records in January 2007.

10 out of them are for Mr Williams (4 for the DVD and 6 for Rudebox)

thanks to fansupreme and Robstar at TRWS

Platinum is the amount it has shipped Tess. For example, in the UK Platinum for an album is 300k. Rudebox is certified 2 platinum meaning it has shipped 600,0000 copies.

In Germany platinum is different. It is 200k. The album has shipped 600,000 in Germany so it is 3x platinum. Gold is 100k in Germany so the album is also 6x Gold. ^_^

Platinum and Gold used to be a different amount until a few years back though ^_^

The dvd is 2x platinum (100k)

HERE

Here is all his certs for Germany. It is shocking that Live at Knebworth has sold nearly a million there when it has only sold a little over 600k in the UK (still one of the best selling live albums ever though) when the gig was actually in the UK

Ok Scotty - Thanks - Gotcha

BTW - just saw Sophie Ellis Bextor on Popworld - she looked jusy like a ' bottle washer ' - Eeeek - stick thin. , that was before they slagged off RW & said he would be going back with TT after his Trannie VD - stuff em I say. Well done RW ..keep doing your own thing.

So true, jackie. The whole Rudebox experience has left me pretty disillusioned with RW fans, I thought they would be more supportive. -_-

As for Chris Moyles, well that's good but it might be too late now. :(

Newton from The Sun has been quite positive too ever since Rob gave her that interview, but it doesn't seem to help much and I think her calling Rudebox the worst single ever is what sticks in people's heads, despite the good stuff she wrote about the album afterwards. The damage has been done and I don't know what it would take to mend it.

I think Robbie has already moved on from the Rudebox saga - . Calling the Album the same name as the lead off single was a bad,bad idea in this case.

I even notice that She's Madonna is not even being selected to play on Sky Box whereas TT are on all the time - so the biggest worry is what has happened to the so called RW loyal fans. I cannot even select it myself as I am outside the UK. No promo from RW - not a good idea. I really think that EMI & RW management thought it would sell itself just because Robbie was on tour at the same time it was released & it needed no promo. Well IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE on their part - hopefully they can turn it round in the near future before its too late. RW seems to have really lost his UK fans ..worrying ..........................

I just realised that when you take the American sales off the Best Selling Albums of 2006, then Rudebox would be #4, which means that outside the US, it was the biggest selling album of 2006 by a solo artist. :o :o :o :yahoo: :yahoo:

As it was never even released there, it is not really fair to compare it to albums that were so in the countries Rudebox was released in (which was everwhere outside the US i think), it sold more than any other album by a solo artist last year. Some bloody flop eh?

Any articles that I have read in the last number of weeks in the UK papers all say the same thing Rudebox was a flop . I think personally that they are doing it out of spite... that is why the follow up singles are not doing very well either & the same thing will probably happen with She's Madonna.

According to Robbi's sister he is under a lot of pressure from his record company, I wonder why.....

Are they insisting that he make the typical Robbie type album or would they still have that much say, I know the swing album is part of his contract. Its hard to know what is going on with them but I did think that it was a bit unusual when she said that you cant fight a big institution on your own & that he had to find his own way....

Yes, I agree that was odd. But Rob does not seam like the type of person who would be told what to do by anyone tbh. He said himself that he calls all the shots with the contract. Yes of course they are bound to be putting presure on him to do another IC/Escapology but he will do as he chooses at the end of the day.

Apperently "Warner" are going to buy "EMI", an article posted on rwap suggested they will drop Rob if EMI accept the bid. I highly doubt this is true, but if they do buy EMI, and Warner keep Rob then at least he will be promoted a bit better.
