You now hate SM? :o I thought you only just did'nt like it the other day  Did'nt you say it was great when the album came out? It seems the more you hear it the less you like it. :( Maybe it's best to not listen at all. :P

I've heard it dozens of times, much more than Lovelight and Rudebox combined and I hardly ever listen to the radio. It has'nt been played much since it's release though due to the negetivity. -_-

The Actor is great, but Viva life on mars woul do far better in most places. But it's not a good idea to release anything else in the UK. It would'nt help the album and would just give the press more exuses to slag him off. :puke2:

Scotty.. You know you are totally correct.. I am going backwards with this album.... I have now got the stage that I play the track Rudebox quite a lot on my MP3 player on my way to work & have really got into it......

Every time I hear She's Madonna I skip it ...I went really off that track & just dont think its Rob himself... it dominated too much by PSB influences... aybe its meant to be that way but I dont like it & never will....& thats rare for me with a RW track....

Why do you think that VLOM would do better that The Actor.... I love the beat , sound & pace of The Actor & I would be interested to hear some more stuff from the guys that wrote that track with Rob.... I think one of them is in his current video blog...

Rob is very clever with that blog actually.. he says he forgot to date the tapes....maybe he did... but its a good carrot in front of your nose.... keeps people interested....

I love the Actor, much more than VLOM, but I think VLOM is far more commercial for the radios and much more catchy. ^_^

An extract from an article in the Mirror about the Pet Shop Boys. He sticks up for Rob about Rudebox.

As someone who was a pop journalist before he was a star, Tennant keeps a keen eye on critics.

“There’s a terrible tendency for everything to get totally under and overrated,” he insists. “I think the Arctic Monkeys are good, but they are so overrated and people will eventually turn.” The Pets recently faced the backlash phenomenon over their part in Robbie Williams’ much-derided Rudebox. “That album sold four and a half million copies and it was produced out of the blue,” says Neil. “EMI didn’t even budget for it. Robbie’s very bright and instinctive. The work we did with him was done in an afternoon, the song came easily. I was impressed by his fluency at writing lyrics.”

4.5 MILLION??????? Surely a mistake? I hope it's not, but that is a good million more than I thought. How amazing if it is true though. Fair play to Neil for standing up for Rob, and in the Mirror as well. It can't get better than that :D

It makes a nice change to see someone who actually knows what they are talking about, say what we've been saying all along. :P

I was really pleased when I found that & such a result with hardly any promo.....it's good to be positive & where RW is concerned we have no worries......

I notice on some sites that fans are already beginning to worry about what the press will say about thr GC / RW reunion....well the saying goes...' Misery loves Company '... Im sure Rob will do fine & Neil Tennant is highly respected in the music industry & he stands by what he believes & always stands by his belief that Rob is a very creative guy.

I think we have really good things to look forward to from Rob... I for one cannot wait......

I agree Tessa. I do find it a little hard to believe it has shipped 4.5m, I had it on around 3.3m. When you break down the sales, it has sold about 2.7m in Europe, so I cannot see how near 2m were sold outside Europe, a million at most. But who knows, maybe it sold more in Europe. Neil was one of the producers and seems to be pretty knowledgeable with the situation with EMI etc, so it could be true, and if it is then I just do not get why it has not been made public in some sort of way before now. 4.5m is really top sales for an album in 06/07 era of music and it would make all these recent claims he has sold 53m albums far more believable. Sales are way down as a whole everyone now, so if it has really sold such a huge amount then this fact should be known, it being called a flop over and over just gets more ridiculous, and I am quite sure put alot of people off buying the album. If it had've sold a million in the UK, there would'nt have been near the amount of negetivity. I am just looking so forward to whever Rob decides to do an interview. Hopefully on Parkey, I am so looking forward to him putting people straight in a way only he can :P

If Rudebox was a flop then I guess albums from other big acts like, Scissor Sisters, My Chemical Romance, Gwen Stefani, Keane, Muse, Take That, James Morrison, Amy Winehouse , Razorlight, Oasis, Westlife etc were all massive flops.

Did it not do pretty well in South America...

If I remember correctly did he not get an award presented to him was it in Argentina for sales of 500k or something near that...at the time I remember saying Oh' that's surprising....I think it was on one of the Vd's in his website.....maybe I am wrong & I am thinking of something else..... -_-

I have to say though that when it comes to the press Rob leaves himself wide open for bad comments because of the way that he says how he feels & how it hurts to read horrible things....The press love that & take full advantage but that is the way Rob is..... Other artists are far too cute & devious to let on how they really feel & Ill' bet they also spend a lot of time trawling online to see what is being said.... Simon Cowell in his book admitted to doing it himself & I bet he is not the only one either. At the moment they are slating Simon's show Grease & I bet deep down Simon's nose is out of joint but will he let on...NO.

Rob will never change from the upfront & honest guy that he is & unfortunately because he is also so successfull the press will take full advantage.....

At the end of the day though whether the press like it or not Rob will be around for many decades to come ....he is so talented & versatile that people love him ...The music industry is a big challenge for any artist at the moment & unless you have the backing that Rob has it is very hard to stay at the top.Artists have to get involved in other things apart from just releasing records because with the web & free downloading its hard to make a living just selling records.IE music seem to have taken on that challenge & it was noticable where with Rudebox they used many of the tracks for helping other artists in other media to get a foothold in their particular industry...ie; short films, etc....so strange times ahead then....

Forgot to mention earlier, last week Rudebox finally re-entered the charts, along with IC and GH :cheer:

188. (148) INTENSIVE CARE (Robbie Williams)

136. (RE) RUDEBOX (Robbie Williams)

192. (RE) GREATEST HITS (Robbie Williams)

Thanks to Holly at TRWS and Haven.

Wonder if it's climbed more this week? :D

well, I am very pleased that Rudebox has a re-entry.

In time the public will find that Robbie is the artist with the most imaginative material to date.
