Well no matter - hopefully neither Ravaillacz nor State of Drama will be in contention come the final in FRIENDS Arena on March 9th. Meanwhile andra chansen seems to be getting all the more stronger. Now THERE'S a heartbreak or six in the waiting. Anyway, by the end of this week we'll have heard all 32 tracks this year has to offer and it'll quickly start to enter the archives as another year passed. I'll make a quick call now that this one's unlikely to be remembered as a particularly great vintage. But negativity aside - it's time to analyse the last eight and pray desperately to Aunt Björn that a few of these can save the year. They'll have to if the Swedes are going to send anything vintage to the very city this last heat's being held in come May. -x- http://www.svt.se/cachable_image/1357918873/svts/article955387.svt/ALTERNATES/medium/puff_armyofloversi.jpg Army of Lovers - Rockin' The Ride Text och Musik: Alexander Bard, Henrik Wikström, Per QX, Andreas Öhrn och Jean-Pierre Barda Best known for: One of Sweden's biggest pop exports in the late 80s/early 90s with their best known hit being the 1991 international smash (and UK #37) hit . Alexander Bard's the mastermind behind serial Melodifestivalen entrants BWO and more recently Gravitonas, as well as the writer behind Amy Diamond's (MF 2009, AC), and Shirley's Angels' (MF 2011), amongst others. So yeah, a bit big. Ladbrokes odds on going direkt till finalen (decimal / fractional / projected finish): 2 / Evens / 2nd Ladbrokes odds on winning Melodifestivalen (d / f / pf): 8 / 7/1 / 3rd Swedish House Wives sprayed an unimpressed Swedish public with glitter and were left dead on arrival. Amanda Fondell created new sounds even a goose would've said bitch please to and was soundly rejected. Janet Leon was strangled by an amount of charisma that managed to make even Agnes look like a star and took the Perrelli fate. Only Martin Rolinski, clinging with desperate life to a ticket to Karlstad for andra chansen, can at all claim to represent the hopes of literally tens of gays that Melodifestivalen can deliver again so far. But what is that on the horizon? L'ARMÉE?! http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/disco.gif Melodifestivalen's very own travelling salesman Alexander Bard is BACK and he's got the old gang together again on a track he describes as 'Swedish House Mafia doing Gangnam Style with a load of crack'. But then, as Melodifestivalen's own travelling salesman, Madame Bard has never QUITE been a stranger to hyperbole, declaring I Thought It Was Forever to be the 'gayest thing' he'd ever wrote (an assertion I BACK TO THE HILT but which some have questioned given years of dedicated service to the gay agenda with the Army of Lovers and BWO), and stating BWO's last MF entry You're Not Alone to be the 'spiritual successor to Madonna - Frozen' (an assertion I do NOT back to the hilt). So there very much is the chance this could yet be a massive letdown, but let's hope not - because these lot are really QUITE FAB. La Camilla caused a massive storm a couple of years back after the exposé in her memoirs that she had an affair with the King of Sweden during the 1990s, and the group's bitchy television appearances have become the (actually DO watch that link, it's genuinely outrageous in ALL THE BEST WAYS *.*). Chuck that in with a back catalogue featuring lyrics like and you have all the ingredients for an all-time Melodifestivalen classic. But don't count on this necessarily getting through - as Sweden's bitchy hyperboliser in chief, Alexander Bard's rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way in his time, and La Camilla isn't the most popular of women after her royal affair. Can the Army of Lovers save us all or is a catty face-off with Martin Rolinski in andra chansen the summit of their aspirations? http://www.svt.se/cachable_image/1357919005/svts/article955401.svt/ALTERNATES/medium/puff_luciapinera.jpg Lucie Piñera - Must Be Love Text och Musik: Peter Kvint och Jonas Myrin Best known for: A contestant on True Talent last year, a Swedish talent contest (HOW many of these do Sweden have?!) Expect plinky pianos to feature. I can't really provide much guide beyond that as this is the equivalent of a Sophie Habibis entry - someone who's essentially a talent nobody. But after State of Drama-gate last week, let's not rule this out. http://www.svt.se/cachable_image/1357919111/svts/article955408.svt/ALTERNATES/medium/puff_robinstjernberg.jpg Robin Stjernberg - You Text och Musik: Robin Stjernberg, Linnea Deb, Joy Deb och Joakim Harestad Haukaas Best known for: Ex-What's Up! member, a boy band featuring a certain Eric Saade, and runner-up on Idol 2011 behind Amanda Fondell Ladbrokes odds on going direkt till finalen (decimal / fractional / projected finish): 3.25 / 9/4 / 3rd Ladbrokes odds on winning Melodifestivalen (d / f / pf): 13 / 12/1 / 4th GOOD GRIEF, someone tell him this instant that scoop V-necks just DO NOT WORK when you're of a certain weight. Since then she's tried her luck at Melodifestivalen and failed, although she did appear on Swedish hit TV show Så mycket bättre! last year (but to very little acclaim, coming off very badly at times and with little success on the charts with her cover versions). Anyway, this is reported to be 'Brazilian-infused'. I'm probably going to live for it. It's probably going to come eighth. The vital element to any year is the comedy villain who (hopefully) doesn't do too well, but the THREAT is enough. In previous years the Hall of Shame has given us Andreas Johnson in essentially every year he cared to enter from 2008 onwards, a Parkinsons' victim who used it for votes in Suzzie Tapper, Nicke Borg, a domestic abuse victim in Sara Varga (what can we say? Melodifans are equal opportunities haters.), and the indefatigably hideous Sean Banan. But you can forget Sean Banan for now. Ralf's here, and DOUBLY WORSE. This roaring cunt has gone on the record to say that almost all songs entered into Melodifestivalen are 'awful' and that he intends to save us from them and put a little 'change' into the contest, hot pink blazer and all. I don't need to say much more, but nevertheless: this tosser MUST BE STOPPED. http://www.svt.se/cachable_image/1357919412/svts/article955429.svt/ALTERNATES/medium/puff_behrangmiri.jpg Behrang Miri - Jalla dansa sawa Text och Musik: Behrang Miri, Anderz Wrethov, Firas Razak Tuma och Tacfarinas Yamoun Best known for: Prominent Iranian-Swedish rapper, actor, writer and librarian. Anyway, this is reportedly about Behrang's 'love of dance'. With inspiration from English, French, Swedish and Arabic music, will this bambadambadababambadambadabambadabadabam all the way to the final, or are we just in for a male repeat of Gosa? http://www.svt.se/cachable_image/1357919549/svts/article955449.svt/ALTERNATES/medium/puff_teresefredenwall.jpg Terese Fredenwall - Breaking the Silence Text och Musik: Terese Fredenwall och Simon Petrén Best known for: Winning a radio competition on P4 to enter Melodifestivalen. But then, she's been doing a little writing for Danny's next album, so there's the chance there could be a little more to this. The pimp slot this year goes to Ulrik Munther, whose image basically consists of being a harmonica acoustic guitar street urchin twink and who had to settle for bronze last year behind the viciously competitive Euphoria-Amazing face-off, and that was a bronze with the otherwise disappointing Soldiers. He's back with the writers of Euphoria, and you can bet that despite missing the mark with On Top of the World (R.I.P.) and Alibi (R.I.M.M.E.), Madames Thomas and Peter don't intend for this to finish likewise. It's been described as a catchy stadium anthem in the vein of Coldplay with 'The Edge guitars', and I don't know about you but I'm expecting an absolute behemoth of a track here which I'm likely to end up resenting solely for who's fronting it. This is definitely qualifying. But will it be resoundingly brilliant enough to settle the score with YOHIO in abrupt fashion, or will we be going into Stockholm with a competition on our hands? -x- That's this year. February 19, 201312 yr A bit strange that Robin has been placed in the same heat as Ulrik, as their songs read as being very similar. No doubt one of them will bomb as a result, and let's face it, it's not going to be Ulrik.
February 19, 201312 yr DTF: Ralf Gyllenhammar, Ulrik AC: Behrang, Robin Stjernberg 05: Army of Lovers 06: Lucie Piñera 07: Sylvia 08: Terese Lets just face it, Ralf sounds SO awful that he's bound to go Direkt Til Finalen. I feel like I read most of this article in Scandipop's write up yesterday Tirren. But obviously yours is far funnier (you're so right about the Monica Lewinsky lookalike ) so I won't call the plagiarism police in just yet. Sylvia's shining moment of 40 years ago was even a top five hit in the UK, surely a rare 70s non-ABBA Swedish crossover!
February 19, 201312 yr Oh I hope not. I don't think I could stomach Ulrik winning, as much as it sounds like it could be a great song from descriptions there's that IMAGE that I can't quite get past yet. Army Of Lovers' title has made me look forward to it - otherwise I don't think there's much for me here on the surface. General 'feeling' predictions anyway: DTF: Ulrik, Ralf AC: Army Of Lovers, Robin 5th: Behrang 6th: Lucie 7th: Terese 8th: Sylvia
February 19, 201312 yr It's really Ulrik vs Yohio this year. ULTIMATE TWINK-OFF. Edited February 19, 201312 yr by パーベル
February 19, 201312 yr How depressing, I hope Ulrik's song is 100 times better than Soldiers was then. I really want something to gain momentum in Andra Chansen and challenge for the win. Of the current six, Cookies N Beans and Martin Rolinski can probably be ruled straight out. And if the final Semi AC qualifers aren't up to much then it depends if the televoters are feeling like voting for the middle aged (Eric/Caroline) or the young (Anton/Erik and Tone). If I had to predict it right now I'd call Erik/Tone and one of the Semi 4 AC qualifiers. But then the voting has leaned towards the old or crap this year so maybe it will be Eric that goes to the final...I can't see Caroline pulling off the same trick twice with a weaker song.

Sylvia's shining moment of 40 years ago was even a top five hit in the UK, surely a rare 70s non-ABBA Swedish crossover! We're lacking in returning artists, so there wasn't as much previous context I could sprinkle in this week other than the really meagre info we've already got on the songs :( I may DIE if Ralf goes direkt. I'd quite like Terese Lewinsky to meet Hilary-alike Louise Hoffsten though *.*
February 19, 201312 yr I actually loved Soldiers, one of my favourite entries from last year looking back - if he's got a good track this year (and Coldplay-esque looks promising to me), then I'm all for him taking the win. Especially given the competition.
February 19, 201312 yr 'Soldiers' was decent and I really want 'Tell The World I'm Here' to be really good as he seems to be the only realistic chance of beating YOHIO unless David can spring a surprise!
February 21, 201312 yr Author Oh, and reviews: Well, Army of Lovers ain't no Crucified... It's Gangam Style mixed with Ride the Bullit and a touch of Lil Louis' French Kiss. A children's chant with the same lyrics over and over and over until La Camilla enters. . Completely nuts. We can't see this getting through to the finals, but if Sweden does vote for it we'll take back everything we've said in the previous weeks. Lucia - The inevitable Adele rip-off. This is so close to Rolling In The Deep as to be almost comical. Completely shameless. Good choice of song to plagiarise though, and she can sing. Quite possible for the top 5, if people aren't put off by the familiarity. Robin Stjernberg has a big stadium-rock ballad in the Coldplay style. Sounds like the kind of thing UK X Factor winners like to record. (I'm guessing he means Matt Cardle and James Arthur). Very good, this missing the top 4 would be a big shock. Sylvia Vretharmar - Very reminiscent of Maja Gullstrand's 2009 entry. Gentle bossanova with zero chance of progressing. Ralf Gylenhammar - Agonising Piano-driven rock ballad. Think Pain of Salvation given a dose of napalm(?). The 'real rock' fans will love this and it's obviously going straight to the final Behrang Miri - A swedish version of Jesse Matador's entry for France in 2010.This is better though, really uplifting and catchy, with snatches of French and Arabic in the refrain. This could do some damage. Therese Fredenwall - Elin Petersson part 2. Ulrik Munther - If ever a song was written to win Melodifestivalen 2013. This could be top 3 in Eurovision. Think Viva La Vida mixed with Where The Streets Have No Name. As a big U2 fan I got shivers listening to this. And it has bells!

February 21, 201312 yr LMAO Sylvia. Looks like something JohnKM will enjoy :D AWFUL. Lucia actually sounds good! 'You' sounds FANTASTIC and is a tough song to pull off it seems. Robin's vocals suck. Off-putting really. OH GAWWWWD Ralf will so at least AC this bitch. Flaming piano and everything. :/ BEHRANG. OH MY ACTUAL FUCKING GOD. THIS IS SO INCREDIBLE. CAN HE MARRY ME NOW PLEEEEEAAAAASE. *.* x467834768347634763473409 *drools* Terese. HAI 8th place. BAI Army of Lovers. *.* "I was born 7 million years ago". ICONIC. I love a good orgy on stage too. Ulrik's number feels CLAUSTROPHOBIC. But he's going to win the whole thing probably. The full song will most likely be as powerful as this one minute clip.
February 21, 201312 yr AS IF Terese is finishing eighth in a heat with Sylvia Vrethammar! I guess now haha. Well 7th TOPS.
