April 22, 201312 yr That was so difficult to watch! Very well executed and acted throughout - the murdered was likely, but I was shocked by the reasoning behind it. The scenes at the end were rousing also - I particularly liked the Miller family scenes and how once DI Hardy told the Latimers, it mirrored when he told them that they body was Danny's. Such a superb series overall; it managed to keep me hooked week after week, without giving too much away. I'm pleased to see that there'll be a second series, although worried what it'll feature, but as long as Chris Chibnall stays as head writer, I'm sure it'll be superb. Drama of the year! April 22, 201312 yr I thought there might be one final twist that Ellie or Tom was the actual killer and Joe was taking the fall for them. It was predictable of course that he was the killer, but it was executed well and it didn't go for the shock twist at the end to be clever. Some fantastic acting tonight. Happy that I thought the p**** thing was true! Nice to know there will be a second series.
April 22, 201312 yr Author One of my favourite dramas of the year, the series was just perfection, it had me hooked from the very first episode, the last episode was just overwhelming at the end, with the beacons. I love how all the characters at the end just came together to say farewell to Danny. It be interesting to see how the second series of Broadchurch will come together.
April 23, 201312 yr I thought the whole beacons thing was rather corny and unnecessary but, apart from that minor quibble, it was excellent drama.
April 23, 201312 yr Author www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22261962 ITV's Broadchurch to return for second series Source: bbc.co.uk Detective drama Broadchurch has been commissioned for a second series, ITV has announced. The "whodunnit" starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman will go into production next year but details of the cast are being tightly guarded. The climax of the investigation into the death of 11-year-old Danny Latimer was watched on 22 April by a peak audience of 8.9 million viewers. Writer Chris Chibnall said he was "gobsmacked" by the figures. "There was another very different story we could tell afterwards. I'm really thrilled we're going to tell that story too," he said. Set in the fictional seaside Dorset community of Broadchurch, the drama had bookmakers running odds on who they thought was responsible for the young boy's death. ITV's director of television, Peter Fincham, said the channel was "delighted" to be commissioning the second series. "From the moment the murder scene was discovered, viewers became gripped by the series, and we've been genuinely thrilled by the audience response," he said. The series, produced by Kudos Film and Television, also starred Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Vicky McClure, Pauline Quirke and Matthew Gravelle. Details of the cast and storyline for the follow-up have not been announced yet.
