Bono The 52-year-old singer admitted that he is somewhat of a nerd, as he put his musical talents to one side to give a speech to an audience that included Bill Gates. Bono, real name Paul David Hewson, told the crowd that he had “embraced his inner nerd” and had become a temporary “factivist.” He then went on to impress the audience with his facts and statistic s regarding the progress that had been made in the fight against poverty. His results showed that the percentage of people living in extreme poverty had fallen from 43% to 21% over a space of 20 years. “The rate is still too high. There’s still work to do. But it’s mind blowing stuff,” Bono stated. The Irish star went on to say that if it continues to fall at the same rate then it could well hit zero by the year 2030. “That’s the zero zone,” he explained. “For number crunchers like us, that’s the erogenous zone.
