It's not a matter of wanting him to stay in the country, it's a matter of whether it is legal to extradite him. The Tory press are using him as a weapon in their campaign against the European Convention on Hiumab Rights, a convention what was signed by Winston Churchill, not Tony Blair as they would have you believe. The Tories also ignore the UN Convention against torture which was signed by Thatcher to give added weight to the opposition to torture in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

Besides, if he is guilty of half the things the press accuse him of doing, why not just prosecute him here?
