Yes, that is true. However, I know that Tony Christie sold 1.2 million in the UK ALONE. I think that it sold another 400K worldwide...

There is NO way that 1D will sell 1.2 million in the UK.

Of course that there is no way that 1D will sell 1.2 mln in the uk, but if they will sell 0.5 mln in the uk and 1.2 mln outside uk, and Amarillo sold 1.6 mln worldwide it will means that 1D will have best selling comic relief ever despite fact that Peter Kay will have best selling comic relief single in uk. And considering on fact that 1D sold over half of their albums outside uk and usa, and they sold around 500k copies of OWOA in the uk and usa it means that they may already sold around 1 mln copies worldwide.

I think it's just a UK sales list guys, aren't the OCC lists usually just UK sales?

Shame they didn't give the actual sale for the list, would be nice to see how close, or not so close, everything was to eachother.

Personally glad to see Uptown Girl make it in a #2. :)

Maybe it will happen eventually, but there is no way they already sold 1 million copies now. Like I said, they sold 240K in US and it won't get much higher than that as they are slipping a lot wit each new week - they are at no. 66. and we all know that US is one of the biggest markets in the world. IF they reach 500K in the UK (which I highly doubt) - it will still be 640K. As of the rest of the countries, the sales are not high in general there and they are also slipping down the chart there.

Like I said, it may be possible they will have 1 million copies sold worldwide in the future, but I really doubt they have sold that much right this moment. That is why I think the media are rushing in saying it is their biggest selling selling Comic Relief single worldwide in the history.

Besides, even if that is true - don't you think that Official Chart Company would mention that simple fact at the end of the article? They simply mentioned 1D is supporting the charity this year and nothing else. They would certainly have mentioned their single is the biggest selling single worldwide because that sounds like a big deal.

1D sold 316k in the usa, and 226k in the UK, and we don't have any idea how many copies they sold this week. Last week they sold 70 k copies in the usa and uk, so this week with their tv performance they will definetely sell more. So I think that they're around 600k in the usa and uk right now. Is this impossible that they sold another 400k worldwide? It would be 40%, and last year they sold 4.4 mln copies of TMH, and over 55% was outside uk and usa. And OCC didn't mentioned that 1D have biggest selling single worldwide because even if they sold 1 mln they still have to sell another 600k to beat peter kay.

They haven't sold 4.4 million copies of TMH last year - IFPI made that report based on shipments and not actual sales. They have awards called European Platinum Awards who are however based on actual sales - they were awarded for selling 1 million copies of both UAW and TMH. So, I think they sold up to 3 million copies worldwide of TMH at the end of 2012.

As of right now, I do however believe they sold 4.2 and 4.3 million copies worldwide of TMH and UAW

But the singles are a whole different matter. They haven't got a real hit besides their debut really in the US. So, it is not good to actually compare their success of albums and singles..

It doesn't change the fact that big part of their global sale is outside uk and usa. They sold in Canada+ Australia so much copies of wmyb as in UK.

@Thermometer I doubt "I know him so well" is the actual lowest selling comic relief single, for a start they missed Chris Jarvis - Glasses, which was apparently the CBBC Comic Relief Single of 1997. I only discovered this single last year in a 99p type shop in Minehead that had a whole box of new copies of it, some 12 years after it's release. How many other long forgotten flops are missing from the list? Also 'Sit down' could well sell even less as it has only bobbed into the itunes top 30 briefly and dropped out again already, although I don't know what sales it had to start with.
