Posted March 20, 201312 yr How I compile my charts: With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's playlisted on Radio 1. Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80's/90's singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1. And it's a fifth week at Number 1 for The Script, equalling Pink's run from last year with 'Try'. The xx have quite a unique sound which may have captured the attention of other countries, but they still don't strike me as a band who would do well outside of the UK and Ireland.
