Posted March 20, 201312 yr Lotto winner claims Bono guitar at BOD dinner THE celebrities were bidding high, but it was a Lotto winner who managed to secure a prized guitar donated by Bono at Brian O'Driscoll's testimonial. The unnamed UK National Lottery winner was one of 2,000 guests at the former Ireland rugby captain's event held in London on Monday night. And he was also clearly a music fan -- as he bought the U2 frontman's guitar for £175,000 during the auction. A host of faces from the worlds of sport and entertainment attended the £680-a-head testimonial to O'Driscoll in the Grosvenor House Hotel. Award-winning artist Emeli Sande as well as the troupe of Riverdance supplied the entertainment for the evening. TV presenter Patrick Kielty was MC for the event, although retired international Keith Wood hosted a commentary session with Shane Horgan and Denis Hickie after the meal. "There were many funny stories told from over their years on the pitch together," a source told the Irish Independent. Organisers said the night was a "huge success all-round", with a large portion of monies raised to be donated by O'Driscoll to his chosen charity -- the Irish Rugby Football Union Charitable Trust. independent.ie Edited March 20, 201312 yr by Sydney
