May 18, 201312 yr Give Life Back to Music - great start to the album. Makes a statement and announces the album. Summery and funky. 8/10 The Game of Love - beautiful - 9/10 Giorgio by Moroder - long, unfocused and involved. I do like the way it changes and has movements. It could have been great 6/10. Within - such un-Daft Punk-like intro leads into a perfect and beautiful ballad - full of melancholia - 10/10 Instant Crush - Daft Punk feat. Julian Casablancas - a smile inducing track that will probably wear thin after a few weeks but right now I love it to bits and it's my favourite on the album 10/10 Lose Yourself to Dance - Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - the four layers of vocals nearly work. Maybe I just have to listen to it a few more times. 7/10 Touch - Daft Punk feat. Paul Williams - this will take a while to get into - not quite sure yet. It's a 6/10 at the moment. Get Lucky - Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - bored with this now. I don't listen to it since I discovered the Mexican Monkey mix on youtube (which would score 10/10). Get Lucky gets 7/10 because of the fantastic robot vocals. Beyond - the vocoder is starting to grate at this stage in the album. 6/10 Motherboard - giving the arpeggiators a good work out - mesmerising 8/10 Fragments of Time - Daft Punk feat. Todd Edwards - a weak start - it gets better near the end. 6/10 Doin' it Right - Daft Punk feat. Panda Bear - not great at all. 5/10 Contact - a fitting end 9/10, such a builder All in all there's loads of great songs on this. Instant Crush and Within are my faves. It would have been been a superb opening if Georgio by Moroder had been edited properly. 8/10 Edited May 18, 201312 yr by AnthonyT
May 18, 201312 yr I dont think 10/10 is a reasonable rating - even a 9 is too much. I fear Pitchfork will with overrate it too. Edited May 18, 201312 yr by AnthonyT
May 18, 201312 yr Well, it is the NME. What's the Q rating? 5/5 Saying "well, it is the NME" doesn't really cover how unusual this is. The only albums that I remember getting 10/10 are PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Arctic Monkeys' debut Strokes' bebut Radiohead - OK Computer and bizarrely some album by EVE. May 18, 201312 yr I was at a playback party in Dublin this evening and my friend won the album on vinyl - he gave it to me as he doesn't have a turn table. It's beautiful. They showed Interstellar 5555 first and then played the album.
May 19, 201312 yr The guy who sang on One More Time has died :( Haven't heard any of his other songs, but sad to hear as I love One More Time.
May 19, 201312 yr Yeah. I heard that his morning. Never liked One More Time but his vocals were great on other tracks.
May 19, 201312 yr The guy who sang on One More Time has died :( Haven't heard any of his other songs, but sad to hear as I love One More Time. I'm actually really upset by this news, One More Time is one of my favourite songs of all time. Rest in peace!
May 19, 201312 yr Author Really coming round to this now. Some great tracks. I definitely expected it to be a lot more instant and full of bangers. It certainly is more of a chilled coffee morning album though. Doin' It Right is my favourite.
May 20, 201312 yr 8.8 from Pitchfork? 10 from NME? I’m genuinely baffled by the rave reviews. There are some interesting elements (most are undercooked though) and the production is impressive throughout but it is oddly inconsistent considering just how cohesive the album is.
May 20, 201312 yr Is anyone else disappointed with the album version of Get Lucky? I thought they would have extended on the ending/vocoder section instead of just adding unnecessary bits here and there.

I thought they would have extended on the ending/vocoder section instead of just adding unnecessary bits here and there. Kinda..I wanted lots more vocoder tricks and possibly a guitar break or something a bit more interesting. It's not a whole lot different.

After living with it for three days now I'm starting to enjoy the parts I wasn't enjoying and the highlights are getting better. It does all sound better on 180g vinyl.
May 20, 201312 yr I absolutely love this album now, there's not a single track I want to skip and I think the whole thing works together really well. As per usual I have re-ordered it though, preferred tracklist is: 01 Give Life Back to Music 02 Instant Crush 03 Within 04 Lose Yourself to Dance 05 Touch 06 Get Lucky 07 Fragments of Time 08 Doin' it Right 09 Beyond 10 Motherboard 11 The Game of Love 12 Giorgio by Moroder 13 Contact
May 20, 201312 yr I skip Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance. Skipping isn't easy on vinyl (that's my last mention of it - I'm not obsessed :o )
