August 20, 200619 yr fallen, or deleted Thanks. Walk Away and Breakaway both only stayed on the charts for 8 weeks. But the album has sold more then 1,400,000 so its all good.
August 20, 200619 yr Top75 Albums w/e 26 Aug 2006 75 74 48 Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits; Geffen 9862108 (U) Compiled by Buzzjack Source: MusicWeek © The Official UK Chart Company 2006. Small correction. In fact Guns N' Roses managed 49 weeks in Top75 this week.
August 21, 200619 yr Single sales haven't been too strong have they? Roundabout this time last year Mariah Carey sold 39k for #2 with We Belong Together and that was only #2. -_- Surprised to see Matt Willis in there with very little promotion. Pleasing to see Beyoncé climb for her #54 midweek position though.
August 21, 200619 yr :o Sales are terrible compared to last year! Why aren't people buying? Because there isn't something good to buy ! :o Because people don't have a lot of money to buy (expensive) music... LifeLight
August 21, 200619 yr Author Because there isn't something good to buy ! :o Because people don't have a lot of money to buy (expensive) music... LifeLight Speaking personally, I've found it increasingly difficult to buy singles. And it's physicals I want to buy. Three years ago there was 5 record outlets near me. Three indepedants, Virgin and Woolies. One year ago only one independant and Woolies, Today there is only Woolies that sell singles. There is a new record shop just open that only sells only Albums but I can buy albums in Sainsbury's anyway. So I'm stuck with Woolies for my singles purchases and as we know Woolies don't stock every single releases. And recently the singles I wanted to buy, especially Cascada(that I went to Woolies several times for) and they havn't had any stock in my local store, so it wasn't possible to buy it.

Most of the record buying public these days have computers and internet access, so I would normally expect roughly the same sales as last year, but with a much greater proportion of downloads.
August 21, 200619 yr Did you download Cascada in the end? Most of the record buying public these days have computers and internet access, so I would normally expect roughly the same sales as last year, but with a much greater proportion of downloads. But why would you want to download it, when you can by the CD with 5 tracks for £2.99?
August 21, 200619 yr Most people download the tracks they want when they first hear the song, either legally or illegally. So when by the time the song comes out on physical or download only, most people have already purchased the track meaning low sales, the sooner downloads are introduced straight away regardless of release date the better :)
August 21, 200619 yr But why would you want to download it, when you can by the CD with 5 tracks for £2.99? True, but most of them are crappy remixes (e.g. on Goodies, version without a rap, version that overdid the riff, version that didn't suit the song at all, and original), and you can download the single with 2/3 tracks online, just don't buy the song on its own. I know this can be done on iTunes.

Most of the record buying public these days have computers and internet access, so I would normally expect roughly the same sales as last year, but with a much greater proportion of downloads. Download? No I didn't. It's a physical for me. I like the Physical because I can listen to it all nicely away from the computer. Either in bed, where I have a my hi-fi/stereo system set up or also often in the kitchen when I'm cooking. Also occasionally in the car also, although normally it's albums I keep in the car, with a few exceptions. Maybe I should be order the physical online, but I just haven't got into doing that yet.

August 22, 200619 yr miss curves reigns supreme again against all the odds, in her 11th week the competition still can't take her on
August 22, 200619 yr rubbish, absolute rubbish. it doesnt take a moment to scoot on over to www.hmv.co.uk to buy all your singles there Maybe there are various factors at work. I prefer to buy physical singles -in fact have totally given up on downloading as my MP3 player doesn't support DRM, I cant play them in the car without burining to CD so may as well have amuch bvetter quality version, and I like the artwork. If I see a single I like but am not too bothered about while out shopping, then I will buy it - but won't go searching except for a select few. Despite buying most albums on-line, I haven't got into the habit of buying singles on-line. I had one experience where Amazon sent me the wrong version of a CD 3 times before I found it in Woolworths bargain bucket (at least I got a refund from Amazon). It doesn't inspire me with confidence in trying again  If I did I would go to HMV.co.uk now at least. Many people are still wary of shopping via internet, and many younger music buyers are unable to without credit cards etc.. I'm sure the lack of shops selling a wide stock of physical singles does a have an impact -especially on impulse buys.
