Okay, I've always thought the early complaining was COMPLETELY useless, but I do agree that now it's totally normal and acceptable to worry a little bit. The song is going to get released in 20 days and clearly it's not doing anything. Sad.

They should have released another dance number.

I've tried to be optimistic within this last week, it's important it impacts the airplay chart this week, the only way I could see the single being successful is if The Saturdays do a stooshe and release the song at 59p, Amelia Lily & Misha B even had more airplay at this point!

As I previously said, if it manages top 10, it's going to do a '30 Days' run, unfortunately the song is not very radio friendly and the video is not doing anything. Dropped to #20 on TV airplay also which is the opposite of what 'What About Us' was doing.

'What About Us' is the 2nd YTD most played video, therefore it makes the chart run more disappointing.

It's doing fine. It will enter the Top 10, it's got enough promotion to do that. You're all going to be surprised...

#300 in the airplay is not fine when the single is released in two weeks.

I know the airplay scenario isn't ideal, but I've been hearing it quite regularly on Capital. It won't completely fail, even a #9 position should be seen as an achievement.

Wow, wait! No one ever said it won't go top 10. That's a given, lol! It WILL go top 10. I just worry for the rest. 30 Days also went top 10, you know... :(

Don't you mean ear friendly. I need a WAU Pt.2!

I swear I've said this before, but I will say it again just incase I haven't. Am I the only one who thinks that What About Us was a fluke for radio play/sales. It's their biggest single (ever) and the last time they had a proper radio hit was Missing You. Now they are going back to how it has been recently.
Of course it was. The Saturdays aren't that popular apart from a few more promo and newspaper appearances than usual.

What About Us wasn't doing great on radio airplay either, though. I mean, it wasn't as bad as it is now, but when it was released on Sunday, it was actually #23 (or something) on airplay, which was a bit poor. The airplay increased shit loads after the song got to #1 on iTunes though. My point is. I do get your point, but What About Us didn't have that airplay from the start. It had to hit the #1 spot to have it and clearly Gentleman won't do that against the likes of Icona Pop.

For example,

italic = where it was on the airplay charts when it was released

bold = where it was on the airplay charts when it charted on the official charts

All Fired Up : 39-66-53-36-18-14

What About Us : 75-50-49-24-23-07

It was doing much better than Gentleman is doing right now. Gentleman isn't doing as good airplay wise as it should be as a Saturdays single (catchy pop song that should get played a lot on radios).

Obviously, if you're talking "recently" as in-less-than-80k-selling-singles 30 Days and My Heart Takes Over, then yeah I suppose they are back to that as the airplay for these two tracks was more than awful. These two were probably the real flukes.

Radio stations should be jumping on this after the success of WAU, end of story. The only explanation is that they simply aren't feeling the song. This has just felt like a miss from the beginning :(

I applaud them for attempting to be different, I'm wondering if this could actually miss the top 10 now? There's four more entries out the same week that are top 10 challenges and I can't see the song passing 60,000 opening sales.

Stooshe - Slip had much better airplay and managed to peak at #13 on quite a dead week, what makes me worry for 'Gentleman' and the pre-order performance for 'Gentleman' has been incredibly poor.

I'm still anticipating the release and I'm hoping that they start doing radio tours as soon as possible.

i genuinly think that they should cancel the release and just say "due to rochelle being away we feel we would rather wait, so instead you can download/buy cd of Gentleman and NGUOL on 14 August ;)

You are only able to sell 60,000 copies to make the Top 10 in very rare circumstances. And I heard Slip on local radio stations and Gentlemen on popular music radio stations, so that's a difference.

I just don't see it not reaching the Top 10, even if it's at #10. It hasn't done too terribly at least.

What a ridiculous comment to make. Are you just saying that because you don't want the girls to get humiliated? Just accept how popular or unpopular it is.

Umm I don't think it's ridiculous to prevent there current reputation from being tarnished by a potential flop..
They've had a couple if flops now and they've bounced back! I wouldn't worry. And for anyone thinking they'll get dropped - stop it!! The fact that they just had a number 1 with 114k opening sales, it proves they have the potential to be more amazing than they are given credit for. If anything they would split up first, but I can't see that happening yet. With tv promo and radio promo on release week, I wouldn't worry either

I guess you're forgetting when 30 Days entered at #2 on the chart before placing at #7 on Sunday..

EDIT:

If it's any consolation, they're #89 on the rolling Commercial Radio Airplay Chart; up 44 places from whenever they previously last charted.

http://ukairplaychart.com/uk_commercial/rolling_week/ Although Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer is a place below them......
