Given the controversy over the anti-Thatcher campaign for 'Ding-Dong, The Witch Is Dead', I thought it might be interesting to find out how you'd react to the banning of a song in *general terms* (from radio airplay for a start, possibly other forms of restriction too).

I don't know about whether a song being banned (what does "IRO" stand for btw?) would induce me to buy it, it probably wouldn't!

These days I no longer normally follow the charts, except say at Xmas, but what it has done tbh is got me to log back on to Buzzjack for the first time in weeks, if only to read the furore this has stirred up and get an idea of this song's charting potential.

IRO a ban of DDTWID specifically?

Be more likely to buy it

banning would not affect my decision for either case.
Banning wouldn't affect me, but it provides publicity so more people get to hear it. 'Relax' by FGTH benefitted not necessarily because the kids decided to go out and buy it so they could give two fingers to Mike Reid, but because more people heard it and realised how big a song it was.
I had to stop and think about what on earth IRO meant too, so I would suggest putting the full words so people know what the questions are.

I'll tell you what - if the chart show plays the Notsensibles, but *not* Judy Garland, I will buy the latter in protest! :(

depends what the song is like probably

if it's something as good as Relax, then probably more likely if radio stations/TV aren't playing it

if it's something from a campaign with a low quality song, then the answer would be no

It wouldn't affect my decision, whether it's allowed airplay or not (or whatever other restrictions may be imposed) I'll buy the song if I want to. In the case of Ding Dong, I don't want to so I won't; the ban makes no difference to me.
