Posted April 23, 201312 yr The new film by Woody Allen starring my all-time favourite actress Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard and Louis CK. 'Blue Jasmine is “the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.”' http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/images/2013/04/Peter-Sarsgaard-and-Cate-Blanchett-in-Blue-Jasmine-585x388.jpg http://cdn3.whatculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/BlueJasmine.jpg Can't wait for this
October 1, 201311 yr Absolutely incredible. So effortless that you don't even notice all the subtleties and the clever writing until it's over and you can just let yourself get swept along. (Cate Blanchett is gonna be unbeatable Oscar-wise this year too)
October 16, 201311 yr Cate Blanchett has got the Best Actress Oscar in the bag. You'd be hard pressed to find a better leading performance, either male or female, this year.
October 18, 201311 yr Outstanding film! Classic Woody Allen, very sharp and hilarious! As mentioned above, Cate Blanchett is flawless and carries the film. I also love me some Sally Hawkins, who did a delightful job once again.
November 3, 201311 yr "Blue Jasmine" is one of the best films that i'ever watched..Woody Allen is genius!!! Cate Blanchett totally deserves the Oscar!!!
January 25, 201411 yr Saw this at last. Stunningly good film. Not just the astonishing central performance, but the writing too. Very funny but horribly sad in places.
February 3, 201411 yr I've always hated Woody Allen tbh and after these recent allegations I hate him even more ^__^ Disgusting pedophile Edited February 3, 201411 yr by Mariah Scary
February 3, 201411 yr What the f***?! All the "evidence" suggests he is far from a pedophile. There was never a mark found on her body after the alleged attack. Nobody else has ever suggested he is a pedophile, which is quite unusual considering the allegations were made two decades ago. The supposed attack occurred four months *after* the affair with his wife's adoptive daughter was discovered, when Woody was visiting Mia Farrow's home to visit the children. Police found many inconsistencies with her story and said it appeared she had been coached by Mia. On the day in question Woody was not left alone with any of the kids by the maids for longer than five minutes. It's pretty clear the whole sorry affair was a twisted means for Mia to revenge his adultery. I'm quite shocked, Ben, that somebody of your intellect would not conduct a little research before making such a retarded statement, but congratulations on the use of the smug smilie there - I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling to be able to use a sexual abuse allegation to justify your vendetta. Jesus.
February 3, 201411 yr Thanks for the information Jark! I'm definitely going to take your opinion over Dylan Farrow's about whether or not she was molested. (: Sorry for being so 'retarded'. ^__^
February 3, 201411 yr Sorry if my first opinion was stated bluntly - I'm not using the allegations to validate my dislike of his work (which I could go on about as a separate matter, but I do think these things are all intertwined - and we cannot just separate the art from the artist as a lot of people are trying to say). Of course I have read about the case (maybe not every possible article) and the fact that Dylan Farrow, after all of these years, sticks to her story is a huge telling point for me, and I think the fact that Woody Allen continues to be celebrated after all of these years despite the allegations highlights how society blames victims for their abuse b/c people love a "good movie" and see him as so talented. They cannot possibly fathom him doing such things, or maybe just don't want to. There are other things about him, such as his relationship with Soon-Yin Pevin as well as dating a 17-year old when he was 42, which I find fairly morally reprehensible (I am aware that the Soon-Yin relationship was legal - that does not simply make it acceptable and that he should still be celebrated imo, also I mean come on the fact that Manhattan was about a 42 year old dating a 17 year old, played by a 16 year old actress at the time??) It also is no shock to me that most people defending Woody Allen after these allegations are straight men. It's been over 20 years and I'm sure Mia is not so vengeful about Woody cheating on her that she would continue to force her adult daughter to continue to lie about the abuse, especially considering she has admitted to continuing to sleep with Frank Sinatra during her relationship with Woody. If you still think that Mia being vengeful is "pretty clear", well, whatever, I'm obviously not going to change that lol. Woody Allen just comes across, to me, as a total creep. That's just my opinion. And I think if you are going to enjoy his movies you need to take all his behavior and allegations into account. Edited February 4, 201411 yr by Mariah Scary
February 10, 201411 yr I'm still laughing at Jasmine's dialogue when Ginger is asking how she flew business class if she really had no money. "I don't know, I just did!"
February 12, 201411 yr Author I'm still laughing at Jasmine's dialogue when Ginger is asking how she flew business class if she really had no money. "I don't know, I just did!" Credit card I guess
February 19, 201411 yr Incredible film. Not usually the biggest fan of Allen but here he got it so spot on. Mainly because of Blanchett carrying the film so well, but it was all so touching, funny and tender in the perfect blend.
February 22, 201411 yr I looooooved it. Cate really was something. That portrayal of Jasmine was impecable.
