I quite liked a few of their songs too (Beat Again, Eyes Wide Shut, One Shot, Everybody in Love) but their last 2 eras have been really bad, so yeah I think now is the perfect time to call it a day.

Was expecting this to happen at some point this year as per everyone else but I thought we would get a 5th album. There'll probably be a new song or two on the GH anyway. I always thought they got an undeserved amount of vitriol, they were always far far better than The Wanted and 1D (I need 1D to split soon as well please even if they'll have infinitely more successful solo careers). R.I.P.

Nick Grimshaw played 'The Club Is Alive' in memoriam :snif: Never forget.

Liked a few of their songs and agree there are far worse in the music industry. They were always going to have a short shelf life. That often happens to acts who push out an album every year and are worked into the ground, showing little progression.

A few years back this would have upset me when I was a major fangirl. Now? Not too fussed to be honest

It was quite obviously coming too with Aston on Got to dance and Marvin with his radio show on Capital/Rochelle soon to have her baby

I'm surprised I didn't expect them to give up so early, can't say I'm devastated but I did like a lot of their earlier stuff
Thankfully they're splitting. Always regarded them to be one of the worst boybands in UK along with The Wanted. They started off so well before venturing into the generic club themed songs.
I expected them to at least try with one more album and then split

I can't believe they lasted so long. They were terrible from the beginning.

Because it's not available outside the UK.

I'm glad to be completely honest.

On The X Factor, they showed so much potential to be a huge R&B vocal group but with a contemporary edge. What did they do instead? Churn out albums per annum without any creativity, credibility or quality. At least the likes of Rihanna and Girls Aloud managed to maintain strong singles throughout their careers despite the quick pace.

'Beat Again', 'Everybody In Love', 'The Club Is Alive', 'Love You More', 'She Makes Me Wanna', 'Do You Feel What I Feel?', 'Hottest Girl In The World', 'Proud' and their awful latest single were all crap and won't be remembered in a few years time AT ALL. Even their rare good moments ('One Shot', 'Eyes Wide Shut', 'Take A Chance On Me') weren't anything amazing.

Probably one of the biggest recent examples of wasted potential.

So yeah, I'm glad they've split. The Wanted are probably heading that way too with their lack of success (bar GYC).

It all went downhill after the dirge that was 'The Club is Alive'.

It went downhill from the moment 'Beat Again' premiered. That was their peak.

LISTENABLE: Beat Again, One Shot, Eyes Wide Shot

GOD-AWFUL: Everybody In Love, The Club Is Alive, She Makes Me Wanna, Take A Chance on Me, Do You Feel What I Feel, Proud, Hottest Girl in the World, Hold Me Down.

So based on that, not losing any sleep here. Some of their egos were also getting FAR to big in relation to what they were actually managing (Oritse particularly). At least The Wanted (Tom/Max) manage to pull it off :D

Everybody in love is the only song i half liked from them, i never hated them they were more in the category unnoticed for me as i never bought any of their material. I did think the split was coming but i expected a new studio album first, then the split followed by the Greatest Hits.

Pretty much this, though One Shot and Eyes Wide Shut aren't entirely awful either. The Club Is Alive and She Makes Me Wanna are just utterly utterly terrible songs, even if one of my favourite artists recorded them I'd still hate them.

'One Shot' and 'Eyes Wide Shut' are their only two properly decent songs for me, even so I don't think I've ever really listened to either out of choice.

Sales for all their singles bar 'Proud' and that second one off 'Evolution'

You sound a lot like my younger sister, this is how I imagine she'd be taking the news too

They ran pretty much a natural cycle for a boyband - started off big but gradually got worse and worse, the last era & the failure to break America pretty much confirmed that it was over.

Good riddance. They get a kudos for sort of reinstating the boyband , but I must say (bar maybe Beat Again) that they never once showed even a hint of progression or anything that would appeal outside of their core fanbase, all of their work could've easily been sung by Blue or Usher or similar artists. I'm no fan of The Wanted nor One Direction but they have had their moments where they've set out something that appeals to a wider audience.
