May 15, 201312 yr Only 3 first half positions left OOPS. Margaret doesn't want to pick one of them OR ELSE
May 15, 201312 yr Holy crap. Considering Netherlands' population is like what 6 times smaller than the UK's, I think that shows how many people actually take the contest seriously in both of these countries. Will it be considerably more for the final or the Dutch are as interested in Semis as in the Final? I don't think many people here take it seriously actually! Everyone I discussed it with yesterday didn't care and thought the quality was really bad. During Ireland one of my roommates invaded my room and said 'even you must admit this is horrible?!'. (even you had me offended there ) Anouk is pretty big here (she's had 7 #1 studio albums) so obviously that was part of the attraction. I'm pretty sure many will watch the final now that we're in it. IIRC about 1 million people watched the final last year.
May 15, 201312 yr Only 3 first half positions left OOPS. Margaret doesn't want to pick one of them OR ELSE  The odds are against her for doing that, I'm hoping it'll go to songs like Finland, Malta and Switzerland to space out those ballads.

Will it be considerably more for the final or the Dutch are as interested in Semis as in the Final? The show pulled 50% of all viewers throughout the day, mainly due to us actually standing a chance It'll be so much higher as everyone wants us to do well, but it's not a popular opinion. So eeveryone will say they hate it but everyones watching :P I'm thinking at least 4.5 million for the final
May 15, 201312 yr My ranking of ESC perfomances : Brilliant : 01. Estonia Very good : 02. Croatia Good : 03. Belgium 04. Moldova 05. Lithuania 06. Serbia Not bad : 07. Ukraine [Dislike this song, but her perfomance is not bad] 08. Ireland 09. Belarus [Read Ukraine] Boring : 10. Cyprus Bad : 11. Slovenia 12. Austria 13. Denmark [1:1 odds :heehee:] 14. Russia Very bad : 15. Netherlands Zero pointer : 16. Montenegro

This changed to this during the actual show: 01 Austria: Natália Kelly - Shine 02 Estonia: Birgit - Et uus saaks alguse 03 Slovenia: Hannah - Straight Into Love 04 Croatia: Klapa s Mora - Mižerja (Safura Butcher Discotits Remix) 05 Denmark: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teadrops 06 Russia: Dina Garipova - What If 07 Ukraine: Zlata Ognevich - Gravity 08 Netherlands: Anouk - Birds 09 Montenegro: Who See, Nina Žižić - Igranka 10 Lithuania: Andrius Pojavis - Something 11 Belarus: Alyona Lanskaya - Solayoh 12 Moldova: Aliona Moon - O mie 13 Ireland: Ryan Dolan - Only Love Survives 14 Cyprus: Despina Olympiou - An me thimásai 15 Belgium: Roberto Bellarosa - Love Kills 16 Serbia: Moje 3 - Ljubav je svuda Austria and Serbia weren't great performances last night. They were a let down (although I wasn't that crazy about them to begin with) So Moldova and Russia surpassed them in my preferred qualifiers. Cyprus in particular pleasantly surprised me. Sad that it didn't qualify....but probably more sad that Montenegro didn't qualify. They really deserved to qualify this time. :( Don't really understand how Lithuania made it through. (Estonia and Belgium I kinda get) Lithuania seems to have a knack for inexplicably qualifying. Voted three times for the Netherlands and two times for Montenegro.
May 15, 201312 yr My ranking of ESC perfomances : Bad : 13. Denmark [1:1 odds :heehee:] How is it funny? Loreen won by a landslide with 'worst winner from 1956 to 2013'.
May 15, 201312 yr Just in case some of you don't know, Loreen's new single 'We Got The Power' has been released in full! You can find it in the Loreen topic in the pop forum (getting the forum that extra promo). :kink:
May 15, 201312 yr How is it funny? Loreen won by a landslide with 'worst winner from 1956 to 2013'. I hate Loreen song (same about Margburger), but I can understand all this hype around these 2 songs. (Similar shit is # 1 in UK Singles Chart every week) Denmark is very nothing special typical ESC song, which usually die in the middle (or even in the end) of total score table every year. Why for simple Malta odds 80:1 and Denmark odds 1:1 ? Edited May 15, 201312 yr by AlexRange
May 15, 201312 yr Author And here's my usual review. 01 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Austria.png Austria: Natália Kelly - Shine I love this song. Performance was lovely but sadly not that memorable. Bitch was just walking around and singing. Being first in Semi 1 is always extremely hard as the 'IOMFG IT'S f***ING EUROVISION 2013' reality sinks in only by performance #2. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 02 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Estonia.png Estonia: Birgit - Et uus saaks alguse More pleasant than I thought it'd be. I think she should've flashed her belly with a 6-month fetus in it - could've got her a few extra votes from the KEY DEMOGRAPHIX AKA BORED HOUSEWIVES ;D ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 03 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Slovenia.png Slovenia: Hannah - Straight Into Love She looked both scared and scary. Vocals were mostly okay but sometimes not so good. Overall, pretty disappointing as she could've at least given us more energy. After all the song has extremely danceable and addictive dubstep elements. Silly for not having used them to the fullest extent. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 04 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Croatia.png Croatia: Klapa s Mora - Mižerja A bit too amatuerish to score votes from El Divo fans and such. The costumes, although each priced at what 10k dollars, looked a bit... damp and hobo-chick. Vocals are okay but they, too, were stiff. Oh well, I got over the song a couple of months before the contest already so no big loss here. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 05 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Denmark.png Denmark: Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops Fab public reaction, although it's very understandable seeing probably half of people in the arena were from Denmark. Bitch couldn't even stop smiling when she could hear public going insane. Doesn't matter as she was absolutely fabulous either way. Would (and most likely WILL) be a very deserving winner. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 06 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Russia.png Russia: Dina Garipova - What If Yes, the first time I saw her sing live, it was all OMG AMAZING and stuff. Now it's just meh NEXTPLS. Agreed about the song being super cynical too. Anyone who lived in Russia will know what I mean. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 07 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Ukraine.png Ukraine: Zlata Ognevich - Gravity I thought they absolutely NAILED the presentation. Fabulous isn't even the word to describe how perfect it was. Clean, classy, with some sass. Best-dressed award also goes to Zlata. *.* surprisingly fabulous vocals too. The only thing is that the song itself lacks something for moi. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 08 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Netherlands.png Netherlands: Anouk - Birds Simple, classy, fabulous. She was absolutely stunning. Our retarded commentators started to give Anouk praise about not even having back vocalists and she had 3 of them on stage. Dumbasses. As usual, the very ending was the goosebump-inducing moment. Top 10 please. I almost CRIED when the crowd started chanting 'THE NETHERLANDS' before the last qualifier was announced LMAO. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 09 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Montenegro.png Montenegro: Who See, Nina Žižić - Igranka They were actually better than in the second rehearsal. I can't help but love Montenegro now. It's dumb to think the Montenegrin broadcaster actually think that their entries in 2012 and 2013 stood a viable chance in the contest, which means they are not taking it too seriously. And it's really great to see such an approach once in a while. No way they withdraw next year (unless it's for financial reasons). ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 10 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Lithuania.png Lithuania: Andrius Pojavis - Something He was so cute. The song actually grows on me each time I listen to it ugh. Lyrics are cringe and his voice and vocals aren't so good but you just can't help but love him. Especially if commentators tell you his life story. And ours did. Ugh I hate when personality gets in the way of the song (Lena was a perfect combination of both). ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 11 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Belarus.png Belarus: Alyona Lanskaya - Solayoh Hot mess. She was stiff as f***. Even Hadise (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was better. But then again she's Turkish and Turkish women learn how to shake their booty and dance like there's no tomorrow since they are BORN. Slavic women are... slavic. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 12 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Moldova.png Moldova: Aliona Moon - O mie Loved how the bitch forgot her words or was late or whatever. I seriously doubt anyone realised that fact (unless they heard the song beforehand and stuff) which makes Aliona look even more amazing in my eyes. She better do that thing again in the final or people (who bothered to watch Semifinals) might suspect something (although I doubt anyone will care much). Still, she was amazing in coping with the inevitable nerves (which weren't present in the rehearsal AT ALL). The elevation was the best moment of the night, clearly. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 13 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Ireland.png Ireland: Ryan Dolan - Only Love Survives Loved the tribalness and those shirtless guys were fab. Nice enough performance for a great song. I noticed one of the guys dropped his stick yay but the camera was off him for a while after that - i was hoping to see the screw up in full (although it might not have been a screw up at all). ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 14 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Cyprus.png Cyprus: Despina Olympiou - An me thimásai A bit too boring. Gave me an Anna Vissi vibe, even if she didn't bend backwards 45 times during the song. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 15 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Belgium.png Belgium: Roberto Bellarosa - Love Kills I love this song. A bit too much probably. Such a massive grower. omg Roberto Crazyeyes. Seriously if he opens his eyelids even FURTHER I think his eyeballs will fall out. Pretty scary. And OMG he's only 18! You can see it in the performance actually even if he himself doesn't look 18 at all. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ 16 http://www.eurovision.tv/img/upload/flags/mini/Serbia.png Serbia: Moje 3 - Ljubav je svuda The whole bad/good girl thing was a bit too much really. I only got that trick one minute in. Dressing one in a more slutty and one in a more conservative way would've worked better. Vocals were good especially at times when I actually had doubts they were singing live, the resemblance between the live and studio vocals was uncanny. ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙ --- Petra was fabulous. f*** the haters. Oh and it goes without saying that Lynda's sketch was incredible as well. A bit better than the 2013 MF one too. Fin. Nothing less than a 7?! Christ you're undiscerning in Eurovision week.
May 15, 201312 yr This Semi is ridiculously consistent! Don't worry, lower scores will have their time to shine. Expect a 4/10 for Armenia, 1/10 or less for Finland and 6/10 at best for Georgia.

You're overrating it! Love Kills has grown on me so much. His facial expression was amazing last night :D
May 15, 201312 yr 53fKKF3NF6w On youtube now :D In the video from the official site the sketch cuts off so I saw the rest of it only just now :/ The sleigh bit OMG LMAO
May 15, 201312 yr I actually agree with AlexRange - I hate Margaret Berger's song but I understand it's hype (I liked Euphoria anyway so I understood that hype), because it's very unique and really stands out. Only Teardrops really doesn't stand out, I wouldn't say it's particularly current, and sounds like stuff entered most years that finished towards the bottom of the top 10 - even if it has grown on me.
May 15, 201312 yr Only Teardrops was the performance that stood out most last night I thought, and that's not just because it was my favourite song in the semi final. The wasn't any other song like it and the staging was just brilliant! On the other hand, the likes of Ukraine which I thought would stand out the most was underwhelming (even though it was still in my top 10 and Zlata's vocals were fantastic) especially in between Denmark, Russia (with the brilliant lighting up of the arena with the wristbands) and The Netherlands whose simplicity did work in its favour. All just opinions of course. :kink:
May 15, 201312 yr Ana Matronic was a star. As much as I loved Sarah too, I hope they have her back next year.
May 15, 201312 yr I hope they get rid of Scott Mills, he's so boring and lifeless. Ana Matronic saved the commentary last night, she was fantastic.
May 15, 201312 yr Author I love Ana Matronic to bits but I have to say I don't think she was particularly good or bad last night. But then, semi-final's not really a gig that allows for that - too overt and you'd be accused of trying to upstage Graham on the Saturday.

It just doesn't really stand out to me, I can't remember how it sounds already. Everything about it is very 'nice', but I don't really understand what it is has so much in it's favour, that Soluna Samay didn't have last year. It's just not a Eurovision winner, and last night confirmed that for me. Like I say, I hate Margaret Berger's song, but at least it seems somewhat of an event and has something that sticks with you.
