Posted May 14, 201312 yr If anyone has missed the first episode of this - try and catch up somewhere or just tune in from episode 2 next Monday 9 pm on BBC2. The best British crime/thriller for a long, long time. Gillian Anderson is so bloody watchable and Jon Finch is excellent too. A really excellent drama where the audience is actually introduced to the killer right from the very start - but it doesn't detract from the suspense of the drama itself. May 14, 201312 yr Yes, the first episode was terrific. Supremely well written, acted, directed etc. Nice to have a show like this which is not set in London or the South of England just for a change.
May 14, 201312 yr The first episode was very good, it did have me jump in some places, and I found it very creepy. I was engrossed in the whole episode and will be watching next week. It was a breath of fresh air seeing Gillian Anderson in a lead role.
May 14, 201312 yr I loved this! It felt a bit slow in the middle, but the ending was very well-done. Gillian Anderson is fab, and the whole nuclear family setting is a chilling contrast from the killer's life. I wouldn't say it's as good as Broadchurch, but it's nice to see a murder mystery not revolving around a child for a change!
May 21, 201312 yr Very slow in places, and the narrative is a bit confusing at times. Still enough to keep me interested in tuning in. Shocked when the police officer was murdered. Surely that part of the story must be linked in some way, although what I have no clue. Same goes for the coke head.
May 29, 201312 yr There are still 2 episodes yet to air, but BBC Two have renewed this for a second series, after it became their highest-rated drama in 8 years! :D I'm imagining Spector will be discovered in the final episode, so I'm looking forward to seeing the direction for the next series - it's so gripping/addictive!
May 29, 201312 yr Much like (the rather good) Line of Duty, I expect there will be a new story arc in season 2, with probably only Gillian/the other coppers coming back. Great news though. Episode 3 was stunningly good, esp the creepy scene in the girl's flat toward the end.
May 30, 201312 yr Author Much like (the rather good) Line of Duty, I expect there will be a new story arc in season 2, with probably only Gillian/the other coppers coming back. Great news though. Episode 3 was stunningly good, esp the creepy scene in the girl's flat toward the end. It just gets better and better. I did have a feeling at one point that Stella was to be an intended victim (although with only a couple of episodes left it would be a horribly hurried job - unless circumstances force him to abandon the already selected victim). The way he turned the volume down on the TV set when he was watching her in the press conference - and the way he posed the mannequin to mirror some of her movements just made me even more convinced. I'm probably 100% wrong (I usually am) but the fact that we've known who the killer was from day one would lean towards a twist in the end. Either way - great news about a second series. May 30, 201312 yr Great news about the second series, the series gets better and better every week. I love the bit where the little girl is having bad dreams, she thinks there is something in the attic. I wonder if the wife takes a gander in the attic in next week's episode.

I think I may record next week's finale and watch it a week before the new series starts - I've just accidentally seen a spoiler!!!!
June 6, 201312 yr This week's episode was terrifying! I have NO idea what's going to happen next week, or how the police will know that the two murders are linked (unless the woman died of strangulation rather than stab wounds). It's going to be so good!
June 10, 201312 yr Argh, such a frustrating finale! Very, very well played out by all involved though, I was absolutely on edge during Gibson and Spector's phonecall. Hopefully the gap between this series and the next isn't too long, I really need to watch more of this type of programme! The return of Luther will tide me over for a month or two at least.
June 10, 201312 yr I was hoping they resolve it, but for some reason I just knew it would end up like that to set the next series up, but I wish they tied it all up, but there was a lot to wrap up in the final epsode. On the whole fantastic series. Can't wait for Luther now.

June 11, 201312 yr Couldn't they have matched up the handwriting? That did cross my mind, just one pothole. And the attacker that got stabbed from last week's episode, why didn't he use the phone before he got stabbed again
June 11, 201312 yr Author And the attacker that got stabbed from last week's episode, why didn't he use the phone before he got stabbed again A few people have picked up on that one - but as has been disclosed he was the brother of the girl being attacked - perhaps protective instinct just took over. In all though and excellent series. Even though I knew the episode was going to end on a cliffhanger - and that there would be no resolution this time - I still enjoyed it thoroughly. Gillian Anderson is bloody fantastic - her performance in this reminds me of Meryl Streep's in The Devil Wears Prada albeit with a more 'heavy' storyline.
June 11, 201312 yr What a strange comparison! The finale was good stuff although it is frustrating that we have to wait for some real conclusion to the Paul Spector story. On the whole though the best British drama since last year's The Fear on C4. Excellent stuff. Give Gillian Anderson every award going!
