May 19, 201312 yr We came ninth! Best result in 14 years Not entirely happy with the winner, both Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Norway would've been better and The Netherlands of course
May 19, 201312 yr A decent winner on the whole, but a lot weaker than most of what we've had over the past few years. A part of me was actually convinced at one point that Norway could actually challenge Denmark, it possibly the only song that everyone I was watching with agreed was really brilliant. Fourth is obviously still a very good result though. I had to admit, I didn't really think much of this year's songs on the whole. Of the songs in the final I'd only really name Norway, Finland, Romania, Denmark and Greece as favourites. Germany, Spain and Belarus if pushed for more maybe. Italy were probably my least favourite of the night, closely followed by The Netherlands (I have a feeling this isn't an opinion shared by the rest of the forum). I thought Bonnie's performance was actually pretty good, some of the vocals at the start aside. She had nice staging, so all in all I was actually expecting a better result. At the very least to challenge a place at the top half of the board. Sweden's hosting was brilliant though. Lovely staging, and Loreen's performance was fantastic. The highlight was obviously the host performing though. Possibly the best thing I've ever seen.
May 19, 201312 yr I was expecting Krista in top 10/15 but didn't happen. BUT I'm shocked that Marry Me didn't get ANY points from Sweden as it's been in their iTunes top 40 and I think Sweden has never let us down before. Maybe it was juries to blame. Edited May 19, 201312 yr by SKOB
May 19, 201312 yr I hate Eurovision. Little countries + France, Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands will die in the end of the table every year. Last 10 years : France : 15-23-22-22-18-08-12-15-22-23 Spain : 10-21-21-20-16-23-15-23-10-25 Ireland : 22-NQ-10-24-NQ-NQ-23-08-19-26 United Kingdom : 16-22-19-22-25-05-11-25-19 Netherlands : 20-NQ-NQ-NQ-NQ-NQ-NQ-NQ-NQ-09 With 1 win, but all another results are very similar with previous 5 countries: Germany : 08-24-14-19-23-20-01-08-10-21 and finally for the most contrast results of 3 ex-Soviet countries : Azerbaijan : 08-03-05-01-04-02 Ukraine : 01-19-07-02-02-12-10-04-15-03 Russia : 11-15-02-03-01-11-11-16-02-05 Ok, PARTLY you're right, I could add Hungary as well, but I won't bitch about it, because we rarely/never send a great song or performance. BUT: Spain usually sends a song that would normally DNQ if they were in the semis. What do they expect? Ireland had some wins before, so if they sent something listenable then that would do well. IMO, this year's song was really bad, I mean really, really bad. Some of the Scandinavian countries might like this kind of pop music, but not the rest of Europe. They should know this by now. United Kingdom: Ok, you can say that "noone likes us, so 19th place is great" BUT UK is the most relevant country in the music industry in Europe. I listen to the radio in Hungary and half of the music comes from the UK (yes, UK, not US). So, what if the UK would stop sending totally irrelevant, 'I used to be huge in the 80s", already forgotten stars??? Netherlands: hope they'll realise that they can actually qualify if they stop sending horrendous earrapes. Happy for them, Anouk is great (this song is not, but still) Germany: I understand that you all love Cascada, but this might be the weakest Cascada song I've heard. There were some songs in their final which were better and would have done better. The other side: I know that the ex-Soviet countries always vote for each other, but you need to admit that they do make an effort. I don't remember a Ukranian entry which had a boring staging. I didn't like all their entries, but I see that at least they are trying, so their results are ok for me. Sweden doesn't have so many "voting-friends" like Russia has, but last year we could see that a great song + great performance can win it all.
May 19, 201312 yr Another Italian-speaking country is the ONLY one who snubbed the winner. But it's not Italy  http://cs540108.vk.me/c540100/v540100510/b60/ouF_iOSVBxA.jpg http://www.eurovision.tv/page/history/by-y...test?event=1773 Interesting fact that Norway was second most voted, with only 5 countries which didn't voted for them, Denmark is first of course 2 countries didn't voted for them. Denmark 24/26 Norway 21/26 -- Azerbaijan 16/26 Ukraine 15/26 Norway has got A LOT of small points.
May 19, 201312 yr Author It's 1 country for Denmark and 4 for Norway since they can't vote for themselves.
May 19, 201312 yr Nobody ever wins with just neighbour votes. The difference is that ex-Soviet countries rarely perform very badly (outside top 20) Edited May 19, 201312 yr by SKOB

I voted for it and my mum voted for it too. It was one of the songs we really agreed on. Nobody ever wins with just neighbour votes. The difference is that ex-Soviet countries rarely perform very badly (outside top 20) Yeah I've noticed this pattern, it's countries like Azerbaijan, Russia and Ukraine that are almost always at the top and then each year you just swap in one of the fail countries in the top spot. Maybe it will be Ireland's turn some day. It seems like each year only one or two countries can defeat the bloc voting. Every other country has to live with it. Edited May 19, 201312 yr by Sabrewulf
May 19, 201312 yr Azerbaijan and Ukraine usually have good songs too though. They have been two of my favourite countries during recent years. Running Scared is by far the worst Azerbaijan entry and it managed to win somehow.. Edited May 19, 201312 yr by SKOB
May 19, 201312 yr Thanks, God. We didn't have the similar results with 2007. Do you remember them ? 02. Ukraine 03. Russia These were pure gold
May 19, 201312 yr We came ninth! Best result in 14 years Not entirely happy with the winner, both Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Norway would've been better and The Netherlands of course I feel exactly the same. I'm already over Denmark to be honest  Azerbaijan only participated in the Song Contest six times and they've already had every top 5 position possible as end result. But it's deserved, they usually have great entries perfectly suited for Eurovision.
May 19, 201312 yr Author Thanks, God. We didn't have the similar results with 2007. Do you remember them ? 01. Serbia 02. Ukraine 03. Russia 04. Turkey 05. Bulgaria 06. Belarus 07. Greece 08. Armenia 09. Hungary 10. Moldova 11. Bosnia 12. Georgia 13. Romania 14. Macedonia 15. Slovenia 16. Latvia 17. Finland 18. Sweden 19. Germany 20. Spain 21. Lithuania 22. France 23. United Kingdom  24. Ireland omg it's actually scary how similar 2007 and 2013 results were!
May 19, 201312 yr That's not what he meant.. I think he meant that luckily there were western countries doing well, which wasn't the case in 2007. (Or maybe I misunderstood)
May 19, 201312 yr Author As part of the interval act, yes. Plus with it being Eurovision final it was always going to shoot back up one way or another. Edited May 19, 201312 yr by Pavel
