Yeah, your career would seem like the wiser choice - you've just experienced it this year so it's not a necessity as much, and in Sweden of all places (the Eurovision home practically). You visited a bit of Denmark while you were there too, if I remember correctly?

Oh yeah I stayed in Copenhagen and visited Sweden for Eurovision, so it would likely be a lesser experience for me. Perhaps I'll wait until it goes somewhere completely different (that isn't Azerbaijan!)

So the boyfriend and I have already booked to be there next year. Copenhagen here we come etc.

After missing out on Sweden, I wasn't about to miss the opportunity for some Scandinavian Eurovision when given a second chance.

Well the flights and hotel are booked however we have decided again next year to watch the Friday night show and see the live final in Copenhagen square on the night - the atmosphere was truly unbelievable! And the tickets on Friday night will be a fraction of the price...
Croatia have pulled out for 2014 and Turkey are still being prickish. I really hope Bosnia & Herzegovina return. :(
Croatia. :( Not a major favourite but they missed out with some gems like Feminnem whilst crap like "Romanca" absolutely sailed through the semi.
Bosnia must return indeed. Probably my favourite country in Eurovision.
Oh balls not Croatia, I've been rooting for them to do well for a while even if they have gone off the boil in the years I've been watching. I hope this doesn't mean a mass Balkan shunning to follow. At least Slovenia and Montenegro seem to be holding on strong.
The official rules of Eurovision Song Contest 2014 have been published this morning by the EBU. The rules for next year’s Contest are slightly changed, mostly regarding the national juries, who’s vote determines 50% of the results.

Every participating country still has to appoint five jury members to vote in the semi final where the country takes part, or votes in it, and the Final. However, only a few countries have revealed the names of the jury members after the Contest. For 2014, all jury member’s names will be made public on the first of May, which is five days before the start of the first semi final. Music industry professionals who haven’t been in the national juries in the past two editions of the Contest can be in the jury.

Each individual jury will have to rank all the songs in the semi final, and the Final. Right after the Final night, the rankings of each and every jury member will be made public on the official website, thus revealing the split results of juries and televoting for each of the participating countries. This means that complete split results of televoting, and jury votes for every single country separately will be made public for the first time since 2009.

Chairman of the Reference Group, Dr. Frank-Dieter Freiling stated:

“Through this increased openness, we want to assure everyone – participants, press and fans – can come to understanding of how we obtain a valid result. With these changes, we hope to put an end to the kind of speculation we have recently seen."

In addition to this, there will be a new section on EBU’s website, where all the individual jury members, fans, and tv viewers will be able to report any and all irregularities, so the organizers and their official partners can investigate them.

The new rules were approved unanimously by EBU’s TV Committee, and the Reference Group.

From escxtra.

Great news that they're going to be completely open and publish all splits, should've always been the case. :D
I agree, they really need to go back and do the last few years retrospectively too. Mainly so we can sneer at the juries that sunk Blue in 2011!
Should've been done a long time ago.
With Conchita performing in Denmark next year I wonder whether Russia will broadcast the performance anyway or not? They showed Krista this year but I doubt it'll work this time as well. I will definitely vote for Austria if they don't show it then :D Protest etc.

From ESC Today:

CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has announced on their official website that Cyprus will not compete at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

RIK, the Cypriot public broadcaster has taken this decision due to the financial restrictions and budget cuts implemented on the broadcaster due to the financial crisis afflicting the country.

The announcement as it was published on RIK:

"RIK announced the decision of the managment board to abstain from the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. The board was led to this decision, after taking into account public opinion on the economic crisis. (The institute) took into consideration further cuts to RIK's budget for 2014, and the need for drastic cuts to spending for the programmes."

This is the 3rd time that Cyprus will be missing the event as was the case in 1988 and 2001. Cyprus will be joining Croatia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Monaco, Morocco, Andorra and Luxembourg all whom have confirmed that they will not compete at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2013 Despina Olympiou represented Cyprus at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry An me thimase, failing to qualify to the final. Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Island's Monika and is yet to win Europe's favourite television show. The Mediterranean island's best placing at the contest has been a 5th placing in 1982, 1997, and 2004.

Cyprus are probably my favourite country in recent years with Annet Artani, Evridiki, Christina Metaxa, Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders, Ivi Adamou and Despina Olympiou all being one of my favourites in their respective years. Hopefully they will return to the contest very soon! :(

One stroke of brilliance (La La Love) does not a worthwhile country make. Will still miss them, but not as much as if some other countries pulled out.

Greece will probably be gone too with this AND having to sort out a new broadcaster.

Evridiki was great but that's about as interesting as Cyprus got for me. Boz & Herz really NEED to come back! :(

SHIT. '1000 Farver' from Rasmus Seebach's new album is just a PERFECT Eurovision entry! OH GOD *.*

ESCToday has Romania in and I'm not TOO worried about Moldova leaving given that but how silly of Serbia. :(

I hope Slovenia sticks it out, they're not confirmed yet. Would be weird if Bosnia came back and all its neighbours upped and left.
