Listening to Electra Heart today. It's not nearly as bad as remembered and I can understand someone not familiar with The Family Jewels really liking it, on its own terms. It's a more interesting alternative to the likes of Katy Perry, et al.

According to HitsDailyDouble it ended up at #4 in the US with 37,956 copies sold.

I don't think they take streaming into account yet so it might end up with a higher total but a lower peak. Good result for her there anyway.

Yeah, The Family Jewels ended up at 138 and Electra at 31 so this massive for her there, especially considering her singles have done nothing.

I wonder if they'll try to push something properly to American radio now.

I needed to do that ranking thing, because I'm really getting into Froot now (and yet I still ranked most of its songs below the older ones because I'm just stuck in tradition and it's too soon really, at least Savages has gotten into my top 10, that's really becoming a classic for me)

It did 39k including streaming and is #10 on billboard. No official confirmation yet from billboard but that's where it's ended up on HDD.

Where did all this US success come from? Did it just build organically?
The Froot Of The Month concept seemed to really build up hype in Canada and in the US aswell as the result of her fanbase building up release-after-release and the good reviews coming with the album of course!

#10 on Billboard is great considering she has Good Morning America and the Seth Meyers show today, so it might do decent sales into its second week.

Hopefully having her first top 10 album stateside will create some much needed buzz over here.

I think I need to lay off playing Marina's stuff this week. I dont want to kill it off.

Interview and 'Forget' on GMA just now.

Watching that, along with the news of her US success, has actually made me really emotional omg. SHE'S ALL GROWN UP. Also, isn't Forget amazing?!

She's done really well at building an international profile over the years, fair play to her!

'Blue' has now grown on me! The only ones yet to hit me are 'Gold' and 'Weeds' (and to a point, 'Can't Pin Me Down'). The rest is

I'm still trying to get into Solitaire and Immortal. I love everything else. But loving 10/12 tracks on an album is a big deal for me!

I have a bit of a complex relationship with 'Better Than That', I love it as a song but don't feel it fits the album. It feels so bitter and cold on an album that mostly has a different character. The middle 8 gives me life. 'I'm not passing judgement on her sexual life, I'm passing judgement on the way she always stuck in the knife'.

Turns out it actually charted at #8 in America with 46k sales (43k pure album sales).
