43k is amazing, most likely more than it'll sell in the UK.

I really like both 'Can't Pin Me Down' and 'Better Than That'! The former I would consider among the more joyous moments of the album and as much as Marina's ballads are stellar, I'm generally more struck by those rare happy tracks. 'Better Than That' I'm quite ignorant on in the sense that I've not actually paid much attention to its lyrics, so I'm not sure how much it fits the album, but I enjoy it sonically at least.

I'm not sure what my least faves are. I think I'd have to name 'Weeds'. 'Forget' and 'Gold' come to mind too but I don't think I actually dislike them. I always think "Oh I don't remember that song" when I come to them but I'm pretty sure I enjoy them when I hear them.

I'm so happy for her! Her US sales more than make up for her low UK sales.
Still me who thinks Weeds is the best song on the album then :(

The purity of her vocals in the first verse and the lyrics of the second make it a definite highlight. I would've rearranged the structure though slightly so it builds up more and doesn't drag in the middle, e.g. maybe not gone into the big LIKE WEEEE-EEEEEDS until the second chorus, with the "cut him at the root" in the first chorus leading straight into the second verse instead.

Those three are the weakest for me. Forget recycles too much of her old hooks but it does have a great middle eight. Gold's chorus will never grow on me. Weeds is ok. All three are 5/10 moments for me.

I think my least favourite is Better Than That. I don't get why it's so well received. Every other song has managed to grow on me, though.

The title track is the only track that massively stands out. Such a tune!

Not to say that I don't like other tracks of course. Is anyone planning on hosting a rate for this album by any chance? :P

Yep I have one scheduled.

She has a habit of singing as if English isn't her first language.

Well considering she only wrote 14/16 songs for the album, she can't really use the remaining tracks to form a new album.

She could keep them for another album if they're good enough. Traditionally artists would keep songs for years if they never fitted an album properly.

I keep having moments with all the songs on Froot. 'Blue' is just so divine. And I'm really starting to get into 'Can't Pin Me Down'.

I wasn't that crazy on the Froot performance, but it was fun and I loved her head piece. I think she needs to be performing 'I'm a Ruin' though.

FROOT has charted at #6 on the Canadian album chart btw.

Anyone else think 'Gold' seems like it'd fit on Ultraviolence? Its instrumental is so in line with the 'Brooklyn Baby'/'Florida Kilos' summery part of that album. Just slightly happier.

I think 'Forget' is one I've decided I do indeed not care for. It's a bit *too* "she's done this before", as Tony said. Most everything else feels like a continuation of her classic sound, but that's a retread.

I doubt very much Marina will do that though.

Wow at almost top 5 in Canada :o
