April 9, 201510 yr It's just the chorus of Forget that I dont like. The rest is fine and the middle 8 is great.
April 9, 201510 yr The chorus of 'Forget' ruins the song into the ground. Truly MOR, flat, and void of any type of Marina personality imo On the subject of the interview on the previous page, I really take my hat off to Marina as an artist, we rarely have authentic hard-working, music-not-the-bling artists like in the pool of manufactured cash-in artists around these days. What really caught my eye, was Marina saying that she writes maybe one or two days in a month - which imo speaks leaps and bounds of how seriously she takes her artistry Though I previously found FROOT underwhelming, it turned out to grow on me quite substantially which I feel manifests what an accomplished album it actually is. The traditional "singer-songwriter" approach she took with it was really quite impressive. I honestly feel that album marks a milestone in Marina's artistry, especially bearing in mind the Electra Heart era which came before it and the transition and development between the two eras, which really speak for themselves
April 9, 201510 yr I agree that the chorus of Forget is a bit underwhelming, but the verses and middle 8 more than make up for it!
April 9, 201510 yr I get the critizing of the chorus, it's a bit 'basic' by her standards, however I feel like it sounds huge. Love blasting that moment on full speakers. It sounds great.
April 9, 201510 yr Thing is basic by Marina's standards is still superior to a lot of other popstars.
April 10, 201510 yr Something rather interesting she's recently said in an interview that's getting some attention. Kind of ties in with what I said earlier in the thread Marina and the Diamonds cynical about artists who pander LGBT community "I was cynical about it,” the 29-year-old admits. “I felt that people in pop… express themselves in that way for calculated means because they know the gay fan base is extremely loyal and extremely expressive and is a tastemaker demographic.” The Brit is grateful, however, to have a loyal gay following (“it is a really enjoyable factor for me… because it makes the shows a lot more fun”) and understands why her music connects with members of the LGBT community. “A lot of the reason I think I have a gay fan base is because a lot of the themes, and the core of the songs, are usually stemming from something to do with identity or acceptance. April 10, 201510 yr That's really interesting - reading that makes me realise that my Dad is the only "straight" male fan I know of! :o
April 10, 201510 yr Someone FINALLY asked her if she'll put out any more videos and she said she's hoping to film one for Savages and perhaps a couple more songs. Very vague, but I'm hoping we at least get the Savages one. Receipt: http://vinylmag.org/2015/04/10/marina-and-...-x-vinyl-video/
April 10, 201510 yr That video has reminded me why I was such a massive fan of hers back in 2010, shes so brilliant! I'm interested to see if her influences on the song will come across in the video! Hopefully she announces UK dates soon  EDIT: watch?v=0pPbnO21lOc :w00t: :yahoo:      Edited April 10, 201510 yr by Sean.
April 11, 201510 yr Marina will be joining Clean Bandit on stage at their Coachella set today *.* I pray to God their collab is A) Amazing B) A successful single, if she garners attention through collaborations I think she'll be able to get the best of both worlds as in commercial success and increased popularity whilst retaining her artistic control on her solo work.

If it's a hit and she chooses the follow up single well she might get another hit and the album might take off!
April 11, 201510 yr A top five feature followed by Blue being sent to radios would be incredible. Alas, with Marina-release-power-and-control-over-lies and the Release-Heartbreaker-A-Year-Too-Late-Diamonds it probably won't work out like that.
April 11, 201510 yr If the Clean Bandit collab is a hit, it will help her album massively. Unfortunately I don't think that's going to help her airplay-wise for future singles. It'll be like Paloma Faith with 'Changing'. It didn't really seem to help her either.

It'll be like Paloma Faith with 'Changing'. It didn't really seem to help her either. To be fair though, her follow-up singles were pretty dire - yet she did go on to win at the Brits and such so her profile at least had a positive impact, albeit again it was limited with the poor rerelease singles. Hopefully she'll follow a path more akin to Jess Glynn or Charli *.* (Wishful thinking, and let's be honest Charli has massively under performed despite Fancy and I Love It).
April 11, 201510 yr Marina's said it herself this era isn't about commercialism so anything is a lucky bonus I guess.
