Bauer stations to air Robbie special

by Paul Willams

Bauer Media is to broadcast a Robbie Williams concert and exclusive interview across its Place Portfolio of radio stations.

Robbie In:Demand will air on Thursday, June 20 on 16 Place stations in England and Scotland, including Key 103, Metro FM, Clyde 1, Forth One and Radio City, reaching a combined UK audience of 7.2 million, according to Q1 Rajar figures. It will comprise a one-hour special starting at 8pm with an interview mixed in with some of the Island artist's biggest hits followed by an hour of selected songs from 9pm of his concert at Manchester's Etihead Stadium.

The day before Alex James will host a three-hour special from 7pm live backstage from the concert where Olly Murs will be the support act. It will also go out across the Place Portfolio of stations, while each station's breakfast show will run a competition for listeners to win tickets to be at the gig.

Bauer Media Place Portfolio group programming director Owen Ryan said: “Robbie is a legend in the UK music industry with over 70 million worldwide sales, and so we are pleased to be able to offer our listeners access to such exclusive, brilliant content across the multiple platforms of our Place Portfolio. At Bauer Media, we are committed to providing quality music experiences, including live events, for loyal and local communities and this campaign is an example of our drive to bring listeners the best and most exciting content out there.”

Phil Witts, head of regional Radio for Island, added: “We are delighted to be working with Bauer Media on such an exciting project. Robbie is the ultimate showman and always puts on a brilliant performance. We wish all the competition entrants the very best, the winners are in for a fantastic show.”

I've been thinking about this radio broadcast, not really a good idea to listen before the concerts that we are going to..
