30 I first heard this on the Chart Show on Sunday and was really surprised at how much I liked it! Looking at the artists, it didn't seem like the sort of track I'd like, but no, I was quite impressed! :D

 

39 Not as good in comparison to 'Girl on Fire' or 'Brand New Me', but I'm happy with this single choice. Radio 1 are supporting it which I was surprised at as I don't think they did so with 'Brand New Me' - I can't see it flopping as much as it did with their backing. Anyway, I hope 'New Day' can make the Top 40 and give her album a boost.

 

40 Is this synth-pop perfection like 'Fireflies' or trashy, teen-pop like 'Good Times'? I'm somewhat expecting the latter. :(

At least the track has had a decent run and a three week stint stuck at #4 so it's not all bad. This was always heading for my #1 spot ever since Harve entered the track into BJSC. :wub:

It's now been A-listed by Radio 1 so it'll be interesting to see how much of an impact the increased airplay has on the song. The thing though with this type of music is that they rarely have a long lasting impact on me. I'll like a track like this for about 2 weeks then start getting bored of it.

Such a shame 'Brand New Me' bombed as it's been, by some distance, my fave Alicia single in this era. Alicia has some way to go to equalling her absolute best, imo, with 'Fallin' and 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' my favourite two singles. I thought 'Empire State Of Mind' was overrated. :lol:

It's neither. :P You're thinking of Owl City, whilst this is Owl Eyes. I can see where the confusions lies. :lol: Have a listen and see what you think, it's very indie/alternative and perhaps requires a couple of listens before it clicks.

02 (02) Robin Thicke feat. T.I. feat. Pharrell - Blurred Lines (02-02-02) [3 wks] Snap, this is an excellent song but I'm slightly shocked at how huge it's sales are!

 

I'm just glad that 'Blurred Lines' has remained #1 on iTunes and prevented the Derulo from getting another UK #1. Whilst 'The Other Side' is better than 'IMH' and 'DWGH' I think Derulo has already had enough UK #1 hits to his name. Robin Thicke is doing incredibly and I'm hoping it continues next week and keeps 'Walks Like Rihanna' off the top spot. :D

18 (34) Olly Murs - Dear Darlin' (33-34-18) [3 wks] Interesting climb, it's far from my favourite Olly single but I can see why it's doing well

 

It's grown on me quite a lot hence the climb, and Olly was slightly unfortunate last week to slip a place as I had 'Dear Darlin' set to climb but it just didn't happen. Technically, it slipped by default because the top 33 last week were just stronger. As some songs start to fade, it allows others to overtake at a later stage - this is a perfect example of that happening.

Hmm, I wasn't overly fond of 'Touch My Body' but do remember you really liking the song at the time. '#Beautiful' could well be inside the top 20 next week, it really is a great track.

30 I first heard this on the Chart Show on Sunday and was really surprised at how much I liked it! Looking at the artists, it didn't seem like the sort of track I'd like, but no, I was quite impressed! :D

 

It's now been A-listed by Radio 1 so it'll be interesting to see how much of an impact the increased airplay has on the song. The thing though with this type of music is that they rarely have a long lasting impact on me. I'll like a track like this for about 2 weeks then start getting bored of it.

 

39 Not as good in comparison to 'Girl on Fire' or 'Brand New Me', but I'm happy with this single choice. Radio 1 are supporting it which I was surprised at as I don't think they did so with 'Brand New Me' - I can't see it flopping as much as it did with their backing. Anyway, I hope 'New Day' can make the Top 40 and give her album a boost.

 

Such a shame 'Brand New Me' bombed as it's been, by some distance, my fave Alicia single in this era. Alicia has some way to go to equalling her absolute best, imo, with 'Fallin' and 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' my favourite two singles. I thought 'Empire State Of Mind' was overrated. :lol:

 

40 Is this synth-pop perfection like 'Fireflies' or trashy, teen-pop like 'Good Times'? I'm somewhat expecting the latter. :(

 

It's neither. :P You're thinking of Owl City, whilst this is Owl Eyes. I can see where the confusions lies. :lol: Have a listen and see what you think, it's very indie/alternative and perhaps requires a couple of listens before it clicks.

30 It's chart run so far is reasonably good; I can see it sticking in the Top 25 for a couple of weeks with the Radio 1 support. American rap has always been hit and miss with me, without a set length of impact if it's good.

 

39 I've always liked 'Brand New Me' but...well, got a brand new feel (:lol:) for the track when I properly listened to the lyrics and now wish it had done better on my personal chart. Those two are certainly among my favourites too, along with 'No-One', 'If I Ain't Got You' and 'Another Way to Die'. I wasn't overly fussed on 'Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart' at the time of it's release - I seem to remember it was a summer release and it was all about party/dance-y songs for me back then - but it's grown significantly in recent times. I've said in other personal charts that I am longing for an Alicia Keys greatest hits; probably mentioned it here too so I'll shush now! :P

 

40 Oh yes, very similar names! :P I gave it a few listens - yes, multiple times were necessary like you suggested - and it's a nice track, something I could imagine Radio 1 playlisting. Perhaps there is still time yet - is this a new release?

30. It does seem to be holding up well in the iTunes top 20. Would be interesting to see how long Radio 1 keep the track A-listed and whether it has a bigger impact next week, or the following week.

 

39. 'Brand New Me' is such a lush song, the video was very subtle (ie; not much going on) but for me the song definitely did all the talking. 'TSWABH' was brilliant I thought, made #1 in my chart way back in 2010. :D It charted beforehand for me whilst the song was doing well in central Europe.

 

40. I don't know if Owl Eyes will be getting a UK released anytime soon. It's a track I discovered through BJSC - at least 50% of my chart each week in made up of BJSC related tracks. :D

To be honest, neither did I. Especially considering they B-listed the track the week it slipped out of the UK top 10. Seems Radio 1 were late to the party on this track, but they've A-listed many songs which got nowhere near the top 10. Someone at Radio 1 clearly loves the track.
