Liam Gallagher pelts Robbie Williams with sour grapes over success

Gallagher launches tirade at Take That star, who played to 60,000 crowd on night his own band performed to 1,500

Liam Gallagher and Beady Eye performed at the Ritz in Manchester at the same time as the second of four Robbie Williams gigs at the Etihad stadium.

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has reignited his feud with Robbie Williams, having a pop at the Take That singer for performing at the home of his beloved Manchester City football club.

Gallagher's new band, Beady Eye, played at the 1,500-capacity Ritz in Manchester on Wednesday, the same night as Williams played the second of four shows at the Premier League side's 60,000-seat Etihad stadium as part of his Take the Crown tour.

The 40-year-old Gallagher mocked Williams, 39, before the show, calling him an idiot.

Asked why Beady Eye were playing the Ritz while Williams was playing to tens of thousands, Gallagher told BBC Radio 5 Live they were a "proper live band" but "the bullshit is winning".

"It's a small gig. Beady Eye ain't a big band," he said. "Everyone thinks we're going to announce big f***ing stadiums. [The Ritz]'s the level we're at and we'll stay at that until you pull your f***ing finger out and buy the f***ing records."

He added that people who thought Beady Eye should be playing stadiums just because of his Oasis success were living in the past.

In a reference to Williams, he added: "We should be playing the Etihad three nights, not some f***ing fat f***ing idiot. It could be any f***ing clown.

"I think it's a shame that he's doing three nights and a band like us are doing one night in the Ritz. Poor, mate. It's not about him, it's people in general. But it's about f***ing him, just in case you think I'm scared or something."

It is not the first time Gallagher has taken aim at Williams. The Take That star was originally friends with Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel and partied with them at Glastonbury in 1995, around the time of his acrimonious departure from the boyband.

They fell out after Noel called him "that fat dancer from Take That".

In 2000, Williams challenged Liam to a televised boxing match for £100,000 while collecting a Brit Award for his solo work.

I have to say I am a fan of Noel Gallagher , even bought his last album. Liam needs Noel to make an impact on the music scene , he's a bit unexciting on his own

Robbie Williams: 'Beady Eye would be better if their songs had a chorus' Robbie Williams Tickets The ex-Take That man hits back after Liam Gallagher brands him 'a fat f***ing idiot'

Robbie Williams: 'Beady Eye would be better if their songs had a chorus' photo: Dean Chalkley/NMEEx-Take That star Robbie Williams has continued his ongoing feud with Liam Gallagher, stating that Beady Eye's recent album 'BE' would be better if it had some actual choruses.

Following the most recent update of the spat, which saw Gallagher brand Williams a "fat f***ing idiot" after the solo singer's performance at Manchester's Etihad Stadium, Williams has retorted, saying “The production [on 'BE'] is really good. There are a couple of tunes that would have been f***ing amazing if they had a chorus. 'Flick Of The Finger', nearly a great tune. 'Start Anew', if that had a chorus, but there is no chorus.”

Williams then went on to state that Liam's songwriting was suffering without Noel's input as the older Gallagher brother is the only one brave enough to tell Liam where he's going wrong. "They are missing The General. I’ve heard 'Second Bite Of The Apple', I don’t know why nobody said anything," he continued. “When you listen to them [the tracks on 'BE'] you think, ‘Please put a chorus in — it will be brilliant.’ They are not going to have a character brave enough to tell Liam that.”

The soloist then finished by stating that “The interviews are better than the records at the minute. I really enjoy the interviews. Liam is like an episode of Star Stories.”

This follows Gallagher's most recent rant about the star, in which he slated the singer and the general public for selling out three nights at the 60,000 Etihad Stadium when Beady Eye only played a night at Manchester's 1,500 capacity Ritz. "We should be playing the Etihad three nights, not some f***ing fat f***ing idiot. It could be any f***ing clown," Gallagher vented. "I think it's a shame that he's doing three nights and a band like us are doing one night in the Ritz. Poor, mate. It's not about him, it's people in general. But it's about f***ing him, just in case you think I'm scared or something."

This follows in a long line of spats between Williams and the Gallagher brothers, which began in the 90s when Noel called the singer "the fat dancer from Take That". Williams then famously offered to fight Liam live on TV at the 2000 Brit Awards.

Williams will continue his current Take The Crown stadium tour, winding up at Wembley Stadium for four nights on June 29 and 30 and July 2 and 5.

Beady Eye, meanwhile, will finish up their current tour tonight at Glasgow's O2 ABC.

Classic Liam slagging off a big star to get publicity for Beady Eye. This feud used to be great when they were both huge stars but Liam is now playing tiny venues whereas Rob is still selling out massive stadiums globally. Liam needs to kiss and make up with Noel again if he wants to play the Etihad Stadium. The only other way I could see him playing there is if he asks Rob if Beady Eye can support him next time around. Main difference between them is why Rob left TT he went on to sell more albums in the UK than any British solo artist in history and become a global star, whereas Liam is stuck playing theatres like he is starting off again. Noel is a legend though and has become one of the most successful solo acts in the UK.

Loved Rob's comeback though. I am sure Liam will be fuming

Och I always have a giggle at the Gallaghers. They might spout twaddle but at least they have some opinions. Not like most of the personality free zones that pass as 'pop stars' these days.

Liam must be raging though

Here's Robbie knobbing it

Liam Gallagher is miffed because people have not really appreciated the Beady Eye album but says no worries the live audience will appreciate it . ( all 1500 of them :smoke: )

Has another go at Robbie in the SUN, talking about zapping himself in some sensitive area of his anatomy
