After his brilliant mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra and what I consider to be the best album of 2012, Channel Orange, Frank is now working on his second album and it'll take a different musical direction from what he has said in interviews.

 

"This time it's a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we'll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can't say much other than that."

I'm really looking forward to this if his past material is anything to go by. In the past two years, he's really cemented himself as one of my favourite artists ever. 'Channel Orange' has to be one of the most flawless albums imo.

He has a whole lot to live up to, but fairly sure he'll deliver again. Can't really judge on those clips just yet, but his voice alone is enough to swoon me over <3

Completely agree. It'll be difficult for anyone to top an album like CO but Frank has proven time and time again that he's got the talent and creativity to pull it off. It's also good he's not just trying to recreate it and is instead moving in a different direction.

 

The vocals on 'Bad Religion' and 'Pink Matter' were insane so more vocals like those and, while he's at it, another Andre 3000 collaboration please.

Yeah, Channel Orange was one of the best albums of 2012. I'm sure his 2nd LP won't disappoint in the slightest.

His new album must be around the corner now. Probably looking at a July release surely.

Loved Channel Orange. Recall reading a while back that Ocean was considering retiring from music after the second album.

A billboard editor has confirmed this will be released in July! So excited for new Frank, especially seeing as it's only 3-7 weeks away.

Ocean, who rose to prominence as a member of L.A.’s anarchic rap collective Odd Future in 2011, had been managed by the group’s de facto godparents Christian and Kelly Clancy since 2010. But earlier this spring he surprised the couple, who also manage Tyler, the Creator, Solange Knowles, and Mac Miller, by informing them he would be taking his career in a different direction. A new manager has not yet been named, according to a source close to Ocean.

The publicist, Brooklyn- and L.A.-based agency Life or Death PR (which also represents Odd Future), has also been let go. In its place, Ocean has hired Hollywood agency ID PR, whose clients include artists Alicia Keys and Paul Simon as well as movie stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Sean Penn.

Can't wait to listen to that too...clearly it's gonna be hard for him to do as good as the Orange album but he's got the potential to do so

I bet we won't hear this until summer 2015. :D He seems like the kind of artist who'd take three years with an album.
