The demo of Gentleman leaked > https://soundcloud.com/mrarroz/gentleman

It's not superior, but you've gotta admit they could have kept some of the things on that demo. First, the production, although obviously cheaper, sounds more interresting. Voices-wise, The Saturdays did a better job, especially Una and Mollie, but that "you should have been faithful" is soooooo much better in the demo. It makes me wonder why Frankie didn't have the "Don't get me wrong, I know that" while Vanessa (or Una) had the "faithful" bit. They could have belted it!

It also misses the rap somehow.

'a husband whos only got my eye' is a good line, should have kept it haha
This song would've worked better for a solo artist.
They needed to make it more mysterious and keep the TLC esque thing, instead they turned it tacky and cringey.

Why does everybody hate this? For me, it's actually one of their best singles and perhaps their most catchy song ever, it's so good anyway. Don't understand what's not to like. :(
I never supported it from the start
I have a love/hate relationship with it, depends how I'm feeling. I think it's because it has so much potential to be amazing but it doesn't ever get there, especially with the basic production.
I like the song (spent multiple weeks at #1 on my personal chart) but not for the Sats. It doesn't suit them at all.
I abandoned the Saturdays when I first heard it. I remember being so, so disappointed when I fist heard it. Disco Love got be back on board.

The song isn't bad, but The Sats aren't sassy enough to pull it of. It miss a lot sparks.

Pretty much this.

The sass on the demo is so much more present, although vocally, I still think the girls sounded better.

yes its catchy and would make an amazing bside.

it was just so cheap. cheap music and cheap video. this should have been the b-side to Not Giving Up.

Yeah that's the thing, it sounds ultra cheap and as a whole it's laughable. It's like one of those viral novelty songs.

I bet they're regretting this now.

Cheap?

I hope you guys don't mean the production. It has nothing cheap about it. In fact, it's far more well produced than some of their respected single (Higher for example which doesn't exactly have amazing production whatsoever?) and was one of the well produced tracks of LFTW (although that could mean nothing when considering the production level, fair enough).

The production isn't to blame at all.

The lyrics and feel to the song can be cheap and laughable, that I find totally acceptable. But the production itself is fine, especially by their standards. It's obvious they gave it the single treatment, especially comparing to the demo.

I think the production on Gentleman sounds a bit cheap, not VERY cheap, but a bit cheap. The video would be sold in the Poundland of music videos.
It's just a bad song, imo.

Well I find that to be a more acceptable opinion than the production being cheap  I really don't think it is. To place it to a b-side level (because of the production, not for other reasons) is pushing it.

It just seems people are trying to find faults to the song in places where there aren't any when there are plenty at other places.
