Robbie Williams Live Concert DVD Team Stakes Out Location

The production team of Robbie Williams's upcoming DVD "Live in Tallinn," which is to be shot on August 20, was in town this week to visit the location and meet the local support crew.

Most involved with the project (except for Williams, who is preparing to play in Vienna) attended, including directors Peeter Rebane and Russel Thomas - who has previously captured U2, Björk and Muse - and producer Melanie Fletcher.

The August 20 show at the Song Festival Grounds, which will be beamed to cinemas live across the world, will rely on 22 cameras.

Fletcher, who oversaw 50 cameras at the London Olympic opening ceremony, told ETV: "It was probably twice the size in terms of the technical setup, and obviously the planning was a lot longer and it was bigger and there was more stress involved. But these types of shows are reasonably similar in that you manage massive crews and lots of cameras and technical difficulties."

Thomas explained the Spidercam filming method that will be used - a first for Estonia: "Spider cameras are a system on wires where we have four big tall posts - around two here and two up there in the field. And there's a camera attached to it and it can go anywhere between those four posts, and it can go very fast or very slow. And it's got a stabilized lens so it can go quite close into Robbie and it can kind of just pull out and pull out and so you see this beautiful field of people."

The on-location crew for the live concert film includes 29 people, most Estonians. Two cinematographers will come from abroad and there will be some photographers from the Williams entourage as well.

The concert film, produced in collaboration with ERR, will be released late in 2013.

I've decided I'm not going to go to the cinema.

Jups you will have to ring me during Angels :P

I'll ring you constantly. It will help convince all those around me that I have a friend.

 just had a thought.......... you know when you are sitting in the cinema, just before a film, there are usually

adverts followed by a warning........... it is an offence to record etc......

 Jups you could get arrested!

:o :o :o

I could just leave it switched on in my handbag. But then you might hear me rummaging for a decent flavour Revel and think it's Me and My Monkey (the re-mix) .....

The acoustic section is my favourite part of this tour, fab to hear the crowd singing the words of the songs & Robbie's voice sounds just wonderful

How long will the show be I wonder, it starts in my local cinema at 6.50

The same length as the concert? :P

Anyhoo, what's Estonia time wise from Uk? +2, +3?

Concert probably starts about 9pm local time. Then a couple of hours. I doubt we'll get Olly.

That's no good to me... so it starts at 7pm , over at 9.30 , not sure if that suits as I meant to be going for a meal afterwards :(

Anyone listen to Robbie's concert from Hanover last night, it was great , he was on top form :cheer:

The San Siro looks pretty full from those clips :cheer:

Unless of course there was nobody beyond the first third...

Wonder how the ticket sales are going for Tallinn??? It'd be pretty embarrassing if nobody turned up for that one.

Then again, the crowd was quite small for the U2 at Red Rocks concert. Creative positioning required before the filming took place. :D
