Posted July 8, 201312 yr http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk/2013/07/...film-new-album/ Welsh rock legends the Manic Street Preachers return on 16th September with their 11th studio album ‘Rewind The Film’, preceded by the single ‘Show Me The Wonder’ on 9th September. Scroll down to listen to the album’s 6 minute title track which features guest vocalist Richard Hawley. The song is available to download as of today HERE. James Dean Bradfield has recently revealed that the band had written two new albums, with 35 tracks recorded in total. Speaking about the first of the pair, he said: “We’ve nearly finished mixing this one. It’s much more acoustic based – I think there’s one electric guitar on the entire record. But it’s not Campfire Street Preachers, we’re not banging boxes or anything.”According to the singer, the second album is “a lot spikier and shinier” with a “tiny bit of krautrock influence.” He also explained that lyrically it was concerned with “the malaise of us Brits not feeling part of [Europe].” Tracklisting: This Sullen Welsh Heart Show Me The Wonder Rewind The Film Builder of Routines 4 Lonely Roads (I Miss The) Tokyo Skyline Anthem For A Lost Cause As Holy As The Soil (That Buries Your Skin) 3 Ways To See Despair Running Out Of Fantasy Manorbier 30 Year War The tour: 13 September NEWPORT, Centre 20 September DUBLIN, Olympia 23 September BRISTOL, Colston Hall 24 September LONDON, Shepherds Bush Empire 27 September MANCHESTER, Ritz 29 September GLASGOW, Barrowland
July 11, 201312 yr If the title track is anything to go by I'm going to hate this album. Utterly tedious and yet another crushing disappointment looms I fear. Honestly, I really want to like their new stuff but every album since 1994 has been progressively yet another reason not to care about them. To think they mattered so much once and now they just make me think of Stereophonics
July 11, 201312 yr Author This will be another disappointment. I will like three songs at most and one of them might be good enough to make it on to a best of. The last album contained a total of one good song, in my opinion, Golden Platitudes.
August 25, 201311 yr Author It's getting some good reviews but I still think it will be atrociously bad. http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk/2013/08/...m-sony-records/
September 14, 201311 yr Author Downloaded last night - only heard two or three songs. Tedious so far.
September 14, 201311 yr I might get it one day. The 'other' album they've written however sounds much more interesting
September 14, 201311 yr Author Actually, the instrumentation is quite interesting. It's not what you'd expect. There's a lot more than just acoustic guitar on it. James's voice is a bit obvious everywhere. It goes exactly where you expect it to go - again, tedious and boring. It could be a grower. The other album will hopefully be a lot more adventurous that they've claimed to be in the past. Edited September 14, 201311 yr by AnthonyT
September 19, 201311 yr Having a first listen now. Not as bad as I feared but not particularly impressive either. It might grow on me if I persevere. The whole album has that feel of having been ground down by the world and being on the verge of giving up. Single aside it's quite melancholy. Probably closest in spirit to This Is My Truth... It's really quite emotionally exposed which I kind of like Very much enjoyed '3 Ways To See Despair' and strangely I no longer hate Show Me The Wonder
September 19, 201311 yr Author I may listen to it again tonight. If this was another band I'd never have listened to it twice. They play in Dublin soon and I wont be bothering to go.
September 22, 201311 yr I may listen to it again tonight. If this was another band I'd never have listened to it twice. They play in Dublin soon and I wont be bothering to go. You could go and see the support band (Public Service Broadcasting) and then leave. I was tempted to do that on Tuesday for their London gig but it had sold out by the time I decided to give it a go.
