I see people are saying Shakira, can I ask why?

Yes Hips Don't Lie has been incredibly successful, but is everyone forgetting Don't Bother? Which was a relative flop in the UK? Also her album has yet to enter the Top10, but is steadily selling inbetween 10 and 20.

Well the main reason I'm saying Shakira is because worldwide, she's been the most successful female artist this year, hasn't she?

I have no idea WHY people are saying Madonna when she's only releasing 1 single this year?

and a not very good single (in comparison to Hung Up)

I have no idea.

I know Hips Don't Lie was #1 in America, I don't remember Don't Bother doing that well, and her album hasn't sold amazingly well, it's well over the 1m in the USA, but it's not going to be like a 5m seller.

Aside from the UK and the USA I don't know.

Very true.

Jump is much better but there's confusion as to whether that's going to be released or not. If it is, I hope it has a MUCH better video than Get Together did. ;)

I have no idea.

Oral Fixation vol 2-Total worldwide sales: 3,702,000 million.

Wasn't Volume 1 released last year though? :P

Sorry i'm clutching at straws here.

Well yes it was, but I'm sure they'll take it into account as well.

'Jump' is out here on November 6th, also happens to be my favourite track on COAD.

Shakira, and for these reasons;

Oral Fixation has sold over 4 million copies since it's relase, HDL has been #1 in every countey of it's release except holland, and in the US simultenously broke the record for most played song in history and biggest first week digital sales in us history. She also became the first person to ever be #1 on the hot 100, hot latin tracks, pop and digital downloads at the same time. Don't other, although not the most successful song of hers, still managed top 10 in the UK after 3 months of over promotion and when the old download staus in the U.S existed went gold on downloads despite reaching a chart position of #42 on the hot 100.

overall, the Fixation era has brought sales of over 9 million, making her the biggest selling latin female of all time with total sales of over 42 million records. She is currently on a worldwide sell-out tour, which looks to be bigger then the 2002 tour of the mongoose. Also she has the most nominations this year at the VMA's with over 7 nominations.

2006 got off to a slow start for her, but it truly has been, and will continue to be the year of Shakira! :cheer:

she also has a list of people wanting to work with her, inculding jay-Z, Beyonce, Eve and has another single planned with Wyclef Jean and his comeback for summer 07 called 'L-O-V-E'

Shakira is massive in Latin America. I voted Nelly Furtado on the poll but I agree all 3 Shakira, Nelly and Christina are the biggest.

Britney Spears for 2007 :cheer:

Lily Allen

Corinne Bailey Rae

Rihanna
