Fearne Cotton may talk about other things such as fashion and celebrities but she definitely does have a passion for music which comes across very well.

She really does have a passion for music, that I don't doubt. Still, she is extremely unlikeable as an individual though.

Unfortunately, Radio 1 seem to want their show to attract a younger, more casual audience than chart geeks.

I just with they would play the records that are actually in the chart not the ones they think we want to hear (i.e. in relation to cash-in cover versions).

I think she started off really well, but has gone downhill recently (can't comment directly on this week's show because I didn't hear it). And I hate here continuous use of the word "Insane" to describe things she doesn't understand. For instance, the appearence of Gabz in the chart the other week isn't "Insane" it's just because people wanted to buy the song after hearing in on the TV Show

I thinks she's alright thing about radio 1 was it used to be full of presenters and passionate music djs but now the 'presenters' are taking over people like her, fearne cotton & Greg James are all presenters but don't really have a passion for music in the way Steve lamack, Jo Wiley and Mark & Lard did they are just cool and fashionable presenters who know enough about current music to get by!

To be fair though, Mark & Lard's shows were full of competitions, pre-recorded sketches of varying comedy value etc.

I love her. She's a lot of fun to listen to. I think she does a good job of balancing the actual chart with the interactive stuff, and that's necessary as they can't sustain a general public audience by quoting as many accurate stats as possible with a straight face for 3 hours. I also love her shade of songs like Play Hard; even though it's not professional and I do like that song it makes appear "real" not all scripted which in my opinion helps.

But then again, I've only been listening since February so I can't compare her to previous hosts, and my country's atrocious chart show makes me appreciate the UK one a lot more :P

I take it that you've never heard of Huw Stephens?

I don't mind her making the odd negative comment abut songs she doesn't like. It demonstrates a certain level of interest and is a lot better than a presenter pretending to think that every song in the chart is fantastic.
...have been listening to chart show since Tom Browne in 1978 : Jamelia far and away the best presenter ever in that time. Unlike other presenters she does seem to be genuinely interested in the chart as well as the Music, with a nice sense of humour. Be MUCH better without crap competition and waste-of space guests in the last hour, but presenter herself fantastic.
