He has an ITV special coming up, that should really help shift the album. Anyone know when ITV are showing that? It just occurred to me it might not be this year.

The ITV special will be shown in the run up to Christmas, he filmed it a few weeks ago.

He has just announced a signing on release day at HMV Oxford Street (which, thanks to my PureHMV card, I shall be at with Priority Access!) - you can apply for tickets here: http://hmv.com/hmvlive/olly

Whilst I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact 'Wrapped Up' is going to be shafted by Band Aid (not literally, you understand), it will still do well regardless and this talk of 'no hype' is absolutely ridiculous. He may have been out the charts for nearly a year but the fanbase has remained mightily strong in that time - he kept himself in the spotlight with doing Soccer Aid, Sport Relief etc.

He needed the break off in any case because no one can go relentlessly year after year in a cycle of recording, promoting, touring. For the first or two or three years when they're getting started like he was, maybe, but listening to what the rest of the album has to offer so far the time off has done him the world of good. I've never known in my years of being a fan his voice sounding as strong and powerful as it is.

'Troublemaker' I've just discovered was number 1 in the streaming chart some month or so after it's initial release so there's every possibility 'Wrapped Up' might even be a slow burner.

He recorded an acoustic version of 'Up' with Demi Lovato yesterday. Cue the studio selfie:

'Wrapped Up' feels very formulaic, lazy and uninspired considering he's been away for so long. Listened to it once a few weeks ago and I've had no desire to hear it again. I'm glad it's not looking to be as big a hit as the rest of his lead singles as he needs to up his game.

Wrapped up is a grower, it's exactly the sort of thing alot of people like. A song that sounds familiar, like a few other songs, catnip for radio. I like Beautiful to me the most of the songs I've heard so far.

Maybe Up will be the next single if he's done an acoustic version with Demi.

DID YOU MISS ME *.*

'Did You Miss Me' so needs to be a single, it sounds BOSS, the sax break, oh! I can tell I'm gonna be obsessed with 'Can't Say No' and also 'Let Me In' and 'Seasons'!

Also, 'A Night In With Olly Murs' his ITV special is on, erm, ITV at 9pm on Friday, 12th December. Press release here: http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press-relea...night-olly-murs

Oh and in other news I'm meeting him again at his album signing at HMV Oxford Street next week. Cannot. WAIT!

Loving the full version of 'Up', it has a lovely folk influence and sounds like the sort of thing that could be a big radio hit in the US, especially with the Demi feature!
Did You Miss Me sounds utterly dreadful.
50,000 sales so far this week, 80,000 looks a realistic outcome by close of sales business Saturday.

It does sound like a radio smash! It'd be a great post album single. It sounds a lot better in full, I was a bit "eh whatever" over the clip to be honest!

it sounds like a massive STREAMING SMASH ie something heart to radio 2 to capital will play, never leaves the chart and is incredibly mor and facelessly inoffensive.

This was an AWESOME performance! I still think 'Twist and Shout' was his best performance on the show though!

Ok then my analysis of Never Been Better:

Did you miss me? Such a blatant rip of recent popular songs, with the trumpet riff he does this too much, just points at songs in the charts & says "I want that that one". Glad it wasn't the first single as he should be aiming for originality.

Wrapped up Bored of it

Beautiful to me : Love this song.

Up Radio friendly unit shifter. Great song. Olly has been saying for a while that he'd like a duet song & he's nailed it with this one.

Seasons lol he sounds like he's from Jamaica in this, I like it though.

Nothing without you: filler

Never been better Really good this one.

Hope you got what you came for filler

Why do I love you? pretty good dance song

Stick with me Olly is obviously a big fan of 'Wake me up', decent song, sounds a bit Eurvisiony somehow, don't like it when he tries copying others though.

Can't say no The music is good but I don't like this much, doesn't really fit with him, I'd be surprised if he had much input into the writing of this one.

Tomorrow Good song.

Let me in 2nd ballad in a row, I really like this one. I was gonna say Tomorrow was his best ballad to date but I'd actually say this is. You can tell that Paul Weller wrote this one.

bonus tracks...

We still love Absolute tune. Monster chorus. Shoulda been the first single. Bizarre that it's just a bonus track.

Us against the world well crafted song, had me bopping my head.

Ready for love Another big pop song. Again, why is this just a bonus song?

History like this one

Clearly the bonus songs that didn't make it were ones he was hardly involved in writing otherwise they'd have been shoe ins for the album proper. Hope you got what you came for & Nothing without you should have been replaced by We still love & Ready for love. He relegated some good songs to the bench on his last album as well, pretty annoying. Really good album if you get the deluxe version which is definitely the one I'll be going for.

Oh my god, Did You Miss Me *.* It feels like it should be awful but it's such a tune! I'll rate in full when I've had a few more listens, but so far my faves are the two singles and Did You Miss Me for sure.
