March 10, 201411 yr I think right now you're probably 2/3 seasons behind the current top 4. You just need a style / identity. Right now you've too many of the same types of players, and too many players that aren't good enough. Liverpool had the same problem, and we hired a psychologist to deal with it. The problem's been just about eradicated now, and one of the characteristics we buy look for in players is that mental attitude and will/desire to succeed. I wouldn't say you surrended against Chelsea, just some really bad individual errors, and a poor refereeing decision. But I watched the game last night, and you never looked like scoring all game. What's your goal difference, 0? That's worrying. I think that is an overly bleak assessment tbh Liverpool were in worse shape than us for years till this season, this year, although you will likely win the title, is due to Suarez having a Ronaldo type season, there is no certainty he will have one like this next season or even be there next season, Sturridge feeds off Suarez so take Suarez out of the equation then Sturridge would still score a good few but not as much, outside of the strike force i cant think of many players that would get in the Spurs team, Gerrard yes and possibly Sterling, Liverpool's season while not freak as such is almost entirely down to one man As for the other 3 teams, only have to look at Man Utd, because of Fergie they were unbeatable, i would not say we are years behind any of them bar probably City
March 10, 201411 yr I have my doubts about Van Gaal because i fear he might lose the dressing room but he is a manager that rules by fear, manages with an iron fist, players would not dare surrender like they did twice against City and against Liverpool and Chelsea, they would be too scared to, he would give Spurs mental strength and quickly ship out anyone who doesn't have the same will to win he has. We have had a succession of nice guys and cheeky chappies, we now need the equivalent of the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket, Van Gaal fits that bill Hold on, weren't you arguing for the return of Harry Redknapp five minutes ago? Of course, if you want a dictatorial manager, I believe Paolo di Canio is available

Suarez has scored over 20 league goals for two seasons in a row, and probably could have been top scorer last season, Rodgers has made him a better player and having Sturridge in team means there're extra space for Suarez to work and play in to. It's a team game and our whole team doesn't get enough credit, our fullbacks is the only area that's quite worrying but even then that's not a massive issue.
March 11, 201411 yr Still laughing at Liverpool "probably going to win the league". It's very easy with hindsight but, for all their faults last season, Liverpool had a clear philosophy right from the start under Rodgers. Problems up front accounted for the awful start and not having a hope of top 4. Spurs aren't necessarily in a worse state but are really lacking direction.

Last season Liverpool struggled adapting to Rodgers philosophy and not buying any players in the summer. Unlike Martinez, Rodgers didn't have the luxury of any settled defence. I must admit if it wasn't for Chelsea already having the points on the board, I do actually believe Liverpool could win the league this season. There's fight in us, we're unpredictable and goals across the team, very exciting times!

Both yourselves and City have been flimsy at times but it just feels like City have more options going forward - games against a properly packed defence like both of their cup ties just need a bit of individual brilliance, and they have more players capable of it.

City really miss Aguero when he's not playing. They still have creative spark, but on current form right now Liverpool's front four is the best in the league. I'd take it over both Chelsea's and City's. Not got the star names, but none of them rarely want to occupy the same space (see Rooney and Van Persie), so it means we can cause havoc.

Oh on form absolutely. Chelsea's is by far the best at tracking back but are reliant on Hazard for a bit of brilliance a little too often. Still think if they bought a properly top striker in the summer they'd be incredibly difficult to beat next season.

Still think if they bought a properly top striker in the summer they'd be incredibly difficult to beat next season. A top striker would undoubtedly help them massively, but they're built on solid foundations. They know one goal will win them the game. They're lucky Hazard hit a purple patch when he did, because previous to the turn of the year they looked a little cold. They still are now to be honest, but they'll have a good 15 minute spell and the game's won. Just now sure how long I can see Mourinho staying there, certainly not for the long term.
March 16, 201411 yr Nicolas Anelka has terminated his contact with West Brom with immediate effect. Obvious that would happen. I just can't understand his mentality. He should just apologise and take the fine, it's ridiculous. Title challenge is well and truly on! I can't believe how bad Moyes has made Man Utd, it even exceeded my expectations.
March 16, 201411 yr I just hope that they can somehow overtake either Everton or Spurs, I'd hate for them to miss out on the Europa League.

March 16, 201411 yr I just hope that they can somehow overtake either Everton or Spurs, I'd hate for them to miss out on the Europa League. Same, none of their fans want it, they think it's beneath them, which makes it all the more hilarious. They won't challenge for the title again under Moyes, they're so limitless, one dimensional and clueless. Mata-Januzai-Rooney-Van Persie is hopeless. I just knew he would play Mata on the wing when they signed him.
March 17, 201411 yr FA set to block Hull City name change to Hull Tigers The Football Association has confirmed that its Membership Committee has made a unanimous recommendation to the FA Council to reject Hull City's request to change their playing name to Hull Tigers from next season. The recommendation, which came after consultation with stakeholders within and outside of the game, will now be discussed and voted upon at a full FA Council meeting on April 9. A statement from the FA also revealed that Hull City are able to make a further submission to the FA Council in view of the written reasons, which they have received, before the meeting. The Premier League club's owner Assem Allam is attempting to rebrand the club as Hull Tigers in order to increase their commercial appeal to potential sponsors, and has described the word City as "common" and "lousy." His quest has been met with a furious response from supporters and led them into a war of words with Allam, who vowed in January he would walk away from the club if the move was not approved. But the Football Supporters' Federation has praised their campaign, called City Till We Die, and believes the right decision has been made. FSF chief executive Kevin Miles said: "This is undoubtedly the right decision and credit should go both to the FA and to Hull City fans, who led a tremendous campaign. "The fans' groups and fanzines who came together under the City Till We Die banner have protected their club's heritage and 110-year-old name with great dignity. "The FA's decision should also serve as a warning to other owners - such fundamental changes to a club's identity should not be made without the support of the fans." Allam's son Ehab restated the case for a change as recently as last week, pointing out his family had invested £74m in the club. "We have nothing left to give and this is the reason why the club has to become financially self-sustainable," he wrote in a letter to the Hull Daily Mail. "Currently there are six teams in the Premier League with 'City' in their name and, with the exception of Manchester City, all of those clubs are in a similar league position to us, and playing to similar sized crowds. "We need something that makes us stand out from the pool of teams we find ourselves in when it comes to attracting potential international sponsors, who are simply hoping to use the Premier League, and its global audience, to advertise."
