I'm too modest/nervous to suggest we could get something against Liverpool but it's definitely a banana skin. Team that likes to sit deep and bully centre backs doesn't exactly open up to great counter-attackers with a leaky defence.

It's a banana skin potentially because of Carroll. The problem you will have though is that playing deep leaves space, and if your centre backs are on form then we should deal with it ok. End the of the day even if we concede two I'm confident enough we can score at least three.

Three away games against teams that defend really well + the two title rivals at home. It'll be incredibly tough but if they manage it it'll be fully deserved.

Not so worried about the teams that will defend really well. End of the day they're at home, so even if they keep the first half cagey, at some point they will have to open up and attack. We really used to struggle against teams like Stoke under Benitez, for the same reasons that Chelsea did. Their strength is built on their defence, and their attack can look toothless when your star player is having an off day. Exactly the same used to happen for Benitez, because him and Mourinho play similarly. Under Rodgers we adapt and change! Will be tough, but right now I'm quietly confident. Whatever happens, we're going to be very well placed for future title pushes.

You clearly weren't watching us play Chelsea

Chelsea have no attack though. They haven't all season bar a good purple patch for Hazard. Their whole game is based on control, being solid and scoring a goal when the opportunity presents itself. If you work on the training ground all week at defending as a unit, then you can stifle them. It's what we practically did in 2005 against them!

I wouldn't say there's a lot to choose between Chelsea and Liverpool when playing against a packed defence. Obviously it only takes one moment of brilliance from Suarez but it was the same with Hazard and it didn't happen.

I think our forward players are a lot more effective than theirs. If Suarez has an off-day, Coutinho, Sturridge or Sterling can provide a goal. If Hazard has an off day, or goes off form like he has recently they're inconsistent. Schurle is wayward, Oscar not hit form this year, Willian only scored two goals all season, and their strikers are pityful. It's a great benefit of playing two strikers - if teams want to pack the defence against us they have to concede the midfield. Sunderland did it very well against us, but they could (and should) have been a man down before we scored the first goal.

With the possible exception of Coutinho, the others are reliant on breaking into space. Just like the Chelsea players, with the exception of Oscar.

Christian Benteke is out of the World Cup following a ruptured Achilles which puts him out of action for 6 months.
Lukaku to start then. Could have an all Chelsea front three where only one is currently at the club if both Hazards start alongside him.
So bloody close then. Would have to see it again but thought that Mignolet should have held the ball even with Carroll's Superman impression, and the second penalty was a joke. Bet it'll encourage Chelsea though.

Not seen the second penalty incident, but like always happens, the refs make blunders and they try and even out the situation. I've seen the Carroll incident and it was a clear as day foul. The assistant saw it, yet the referee made a mistake over-hauling it. Really think we'll win the title now. Teams keep asking us questions but we keep winning. West Ham are a big physical side, and we struggle against them because the height in our team isn't there. Banana skin out of the way, and three more points - bring on City!

On second viewing it really shouldn't have been a goal but we'd have taken going in 1-0 down and having the whole second half than only having 20 minutes at 2-1.

If Liverpool manage it then it just shows what momentum can do.

Reckon 1-0 at half-time would have suited us more, although from what I gather we played better once we switched to the diamond so maybe the goal was a blessing in disguise. Sturridge struggles against teams that defend deep. Once West Ham went for an equaliser it just plays in to our hands because we're afforded more space. Think today showed Coutinho struggles as a central midfielder, especially against an Allardyce team.

Momentum will play a huge part but we've been good all season really so far. A few really bad days at the office, but all teams have those. Since those defeats against Man City and Chelsea we've looked rejuvenated. Gerrard playing as the holding midfielder has really transformed us from a good team, to an excellent one.

He's been instrumental against many teams but I still think he can be got at. Against City it'll either be Toure closing him down or Silva getting either side of him.

Carlisle have picked up a win thanks to Madine. Gives us hope for the next match against Preston on Saturday.

Hughton sacking, I am surprised at the timing of it. Been a bit confused with his tactics in selecting Van Wolfswinkel and Elmander over Hooper along with many in this locality.

Don't know the City game will go. Depends whether they play 4-4-2 or not, what I do know is that there is going to be some atmosphere, probably akin to the 2005 semi-final home leg against Chelsea. Not sure City will press that high at Anfield, they'll be content with a draw you'd expect, but then they would be banking on winning the rest of their fixtures, so dangerous game to play.
