The risk for City though is if they play for a draw, then they might get complacent. They've got some hard games coming up aswell. Expect Liverpool will play with the diamond, and Coutinho will drop to the bench. We'll want to go toe to toe with City in midfield. The word on the street is they're rushing Aguero back.

I think the battle between Yaya and Stevie will dictate this game. It will also be interesting to see who plays centre back for city against SAS
Well City threw that away after showing why they've been the best team in the league this season. Suarez should have been sent off and should have been a penalty in the last minute.

No chance! Big game of football, easily the two best teams in the league. We destroyed them first half, and they did the same to us in the second. Neither team could find that third goal though when they had the momentum that would have killed the game off.

City were trying all game to get Suarez sent off. It was handball by Skrtel at the end, but Liverpool should have had one when Kompany man-handled Suarez. No-one would have even picked the Skrtel one out if it wasn't for the cameras! Momentum was with City, once Silva got in to the game, but once we scored from their mistake I did not think Liverpool would concede again. Massive, massive three points.

Overall Liverpool deserved to win but David Silva's goal was outstanding

Thatcher's dead, Fergie's retired and Liverpool are going to win the league. Somewhere there's a Scouser with a lamp and no wishes left.

Fergie retiring has been helped massively by Moyes' destruction job. The funniest part is they only think they're having one bad season

Camera doesn't lie though, definite penalty. Suarez's claim against Kompany could have gone either way, just like Sakho's in the first half on Dzeko. It was both or neither.

Chelsea having Matic and Salah cup tied is proving helpful to their league form, the former is a tank. Mikel if he'd lived up to his potential.

Oh it was a penalty, but I thought we were the better team overall. Big game when they come to Anfield now providing both teams keep winning. Only Chelsea will need to pick up three points, and not have to settle for a draw.

Liverpool's greatest asset for the run in is possibly Steven Gerrard. He was clearly very emotional at the end of today's match and has shown his leadership skills before, particularly in that Champions League triumph. The way he geed up the crowd after the first Liverpool goal in that match made me think at the time that they might just do it. As a Scouser whose cousin was the youngest victim at Hillsborough he has a connection with the club that could prove invaluable in the final few matches. It's clear just how much a league title would mean to him in this season more than most.

Of course, if he can carry that forward to Brazil, perhaps England could even do better than most of us expect. Not that that's saying much.

I'll be interested to see how Chelsea approach Gerrard. He was quiet in the game today despite City not really being able to press him naturally. If Chelsea were to play their usual 4-2-3-1 then it would fall to Oscar or Willian as the number 10, both of whom could do it well, but I'm guessing that Mourinho will use his usual "big away game" 4-3-3 and leave Gerrard free - having the rest of the midfield covered and knowing that his long balls over the top won't be as dangerous against a deeper defence.

He's re-invented himself in that holding role. He used to play in the middle of the midfield three earlier in the season, and most Liverpool fans would tell you that in the bigger intensity games we would get overrun because he doesn't have the legs anymore. Now he doesn't need to have the legs because of this new role. The only problem we have now is that we're the favourites with the bookies, it's now our title to lose, and I'm not sure how the team will respond. Saying that our mentality and approach is all because of Steven Peters. Undoubtedly the reason why our character is so strong compared to recent years.

I think Gerrard's biggest contribution can be his presence. He doesn't necessarily need to do much, he contributes a great deal just by being there. It's a bit like Mike Brearley's contribution to the 1981 Ashes victory. I know that was before you were born but his leadership made a big difference although, inevitably, it is Ian Botham's performances that get the most credit.

Luckily our game is sandwiched between the CL, so I've no idea what he will play. All I know is Mourinho will hate coming to Anfield and having to win. Sturridge looks injured so we might ditch the diamond and go for 4-3-3 depending on how bad the injury is. Man City today did a really good job on Suarez and Sturridge, but the downside of that, is Sterling and Coutinho were afforded all the space.

He would have hated having to come from behind against PSG! You'd expect Matic and Salah to play just to offer some fresh legs but I don't think the latter will. I'm assuming he'll play the 4-2-3-1 with Oscar for at least one of the Atletico games and then the 4-3-3 against Liverpool with Hazard and Willian out wide.

He would, but he hates Anfield, mainly because he knows the crowd will be fired up. Happened in 2005 and 2007, only this time you would expect it will be even bigger. He'll go with his best line-up with the most experience no question if they beat Sunderland.

I always said he would... to start with. But he'll only take you to League 2. He's an atrocious manager.

Steve Cotterill is definitely an atrocious manager. He's only got us 38 points out of 72. :P We would probably be challenging for promotion if we got rid of SOD earlier in the season.

What did I say earlier about Bristol Rovers...! They're going down with Torquay.

Massive victory for Liverpool today. Really missed Henderson and Sturridge, but thankfully Sunderland did us a few favours :D
