LOL at Newcastle!

Great result for Sunderland. Still convinced they will be relegated, but absolutely massive win for them.

Can't believe the form of Man City and Man Utd at the moment. Averaging a loss every three games! Don't think Man Utd will even get Top 4 now.

As it stands, my top four would probably be: 01 Chelsea 02 Arsenal 03 Man City 04 Man United

They'll still have enough to scrape into the top 4

Not convinced they do still. When you take in to consideration Arsenal and Liverpool's form throughout 2013, Chelsea looking like a decent side now and other facts, I just don't think they have enough. A manager who has his own definition of success and some very average players. That's not to say they won't finish Top 4, but I've not seen anything thus far that makes me think they're certain to qualify other than their name.

Last weekend suggests they're getting back into the habit of winning games they don't deserve to. I don't think they'll push for the title because they clearly aren't equipped to go out and beat their rivals (and with five potential challengers there's 30 points at stake, as opposed to six or twelve last season) but I think they'll be consistent enough to scrape top four.

They were lucky though, and they don't have the Ferguson factor anymore. Teams aren't afraid of them, and their average players and being showed up. I think Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool have more going for them than Man Utd. They need to strengthen massively in January. They've had an easier start to the season than Moyes would let you believe!

I think it is true atm that there is a lack of fear about a visit to Old Trafford. They need a big win, in the Premier League rather than the League Cup, to start to restore that fear.

As for their opening fixtures, the first five were tough. The next four were rather less intimidating.

Liverpool will fade

Sure they have had a good start but they have only played 2 teams in the Top 10 and lost to one of them, their position is inflated by the cannon fodder they have been up against

Plus they are heavily reliant on a player with a bad record for injuries and a player with a bad record for discipline

Not sure we will fade. When you look at our form throughout 2013 we're consistently in the Top 4. We're a lot better than people give us credit, although the pundits are starting to realise that too. There's only been two times this season where we've actually played really well too (Stoke and West Brom).

There will be a slip up at some point for sure, but we've been dampened with injuries throughout the first nine games aswell. Rodgers is being very pragmatic with the system we pay currently. We've a massive goal threat and an injury or suspension to either of our strikers just means we'll play 4-3-3 again and bring Coutinho back in to the side. Plus there's no way we won't strengthen again in January.

I'm still not sure about the defence, that Cabaye goal was indicative of a team with either little confidence or poor tactics. Better teams will find ways of stopping Sturridge and/or Suarez.

I don't see who will bang the goals in if Sturridge gets his regular runs of injuries and/or Suarez loses his temper again, plus Real are rumoured to be offering £55m in Jan which will be hard to resist

Interesting decision made against the Cardiff keeper, I wonder if the FA will review the rule. It looked very uncertain to me, though it was rather unwise to let go of the ball when an opposition player is so near.

First defeat for Kavanagh as manager for Carlisle. Now for a tough trip to MK Dons.

haha sorry about that mate, but we needed a win more, still bottom though. :/ I guess our song was what happened in 'JET will tear you apart again' ;)

glad we actually won, hopefully now to kickstart the league. sean o'driscol is the way forward, just needs time. we aint going up this year, unless (hoping) we do a Bournemouth from last season. coyr

We've been doing that all season so far. Letting teams have the ball 25-30 yards out. Mignolet's a better shot stopper than Reina. Chances are more often than not if a player takes a shot from that distance it will be saved, unless it's a complete wonder goal. I'd imagine throughout the season we'll let ship 3-4 goals from long distance because of those tactics. I'm fine with the defence currently, we're attacking the ball and not getting pushed over. The only real negative of our defence is the inability to defend set pieces properly.

Sure you can nulify the threat, but no team has been able to stop Suarez thus far. It's harder to mark two strikers because they're playing in the same pockets of space. Defences these days are more equipped to dealing with the one loan forward. End of the day at some point we will be able to play Suarez-Sturridge-Coutinho. It will be difficult for defences to pick up all three.

It's all hypothetical though Craig. You can apply the same logic to Spurs. I can't see who is going to bang the goals in for you consistently. With the way Liverpool play at the moment the team is set up to get goals from Suarez and Sturridge. If an injury or suspension happens to either we'll just change the system. We'd take £55m bang on, and we would be laughing all the way to the bank with that money.

No way Real will offer that much though in January. It will be £30-40m, which we would reject. Better to gamble on getting to the Top 4, hoping Suarez has a stormer of a World Cup, then re-investing the money wisely and being able to attract a better calibre of players.

We are getting a lot of our goals from midfield

Paulinho, Siggy, Townsend for example are solid scorers this season, i would like to see more goals from the striker but we are grinding out results which is a good thing

If i was to make a prediction now i would say

1) Chelsea

2) Arsenal

3) City

4) Spurs

5) Utd

6) Liverpool

None of them are prolific though. I'd be surprised if more than one of the three you've mentioned scores more than 10 goals this season. It's not like the set up at Chelsea were they have a wealth of creativity from the support players. Sturridge and Suarez will both get 20 at least each if they stay fit.

I'm not going to make anymore predictions than the ones I made at the start of the season. I have changed my mind though slightly and think Chelsea will win the league. Man City will definitely be Top 4 but they could finish anywhere from 2nd-4th. It's a lottery for the other two places. Right now I would say Arsenal and Liverpool. Both have been consistent throughout 2014 and both will push in to the transfer market in January again. Both have First XIs that are equal, if not better than Spurs and Man Utd, but the latter two have better squads.

Levy has promised AVB all the money from the Bale sale should he identify players that will take us forward so I think we can compete with our 5 rivals in the transfer market in Jan

We have a pretty awesome bench too so i am confident we can be at the sharp end all season, winning the title is unrealistic but 3rd or 4th is a realistic prospect

Picking Andros Townsend is hardly a good example, he's not scored from over 30 shots, only from an over/mis-hit cross.

There are 6 squads who can easily finish inside the top 4, two of them won't and who those two are is anyone's guess. You can easily make a case for any of them to be guaranteed to finish in it. The only one I genuinely think will are Chelsea.

Pretty much this, but I don't think there's any way that City will miss out. Firepower to beat most smaller teams and, as this weekend proved, with Kompany fit they'll more than compete against their rivals. Jovetic has barely played yet either.

I expect City will go stronger as the season progresses. But I expect this will be the first time they actually do well in the Champions League so I'm not sure how competing in 4 competitions come January will effect then. They've got a good squad, but unlike Chelsea if they cannot cope as easily with losses to key players. Plus the form of Joe Hart is quite worrying.

The decline of Hart is extraordinary

This time last year i considered him the best keeper in the world

Now he has turned into a hapless David James type figure
