August 26, 200618 yr whilst id agree that if everyone followed 'christs' teachings the world would be a better place, they arnt 'his'! there were well ordered civilisations throughout the world that had basic 'good' in their laws, the bible makes it sound like all these 'good' things are from christ, but it just isnt so. It doesn´t matter where it came from, people use that as an excuse not to do it. Take what he says (suposedly) on the Mountain Preaching, that´s heavy stuff, good moral teaching and it´s violent to the ears. We don´t need to check back if he really existed or not, if you just read it you know everything would be better if you lived that way. I have read tons of religious and ethic texts in my life, I must say from Krishna, Buddha, to Karl Marx, and all of them have good things in them, but the only one who looks morally perfect in my modest opinion is Jesus, whether he really existed or it´s just a fiction. I just came to the conclusion that, if he never existed, the people who invented his story and wrote the gospels were damn intelligent and made the most perfect moral code of the history. If they just wanted to create a religion and spread it all the way, they wouldn´t have written heavy stuff, like "rich people hardly enter the Kingdom of heaven". If you read it carefully, there are several teachings in the gospel that attack directly our so-called "christian" civilization. somethings been going on in the middle east ever since time began, strange isnt it that christianity took 40 years to take off! thats 40 years AFTER he died!!!.. if he was everythig the bible claimed then why didnt christianity take off immediately? like i said, theres thousands of religious texts from that era, only the writings that fitted the criteria were used and all the others that contradicted, or didnt support the christian premis, dispite them being pertainent were ignored. the whole thing is a con, and everyone can have an emotion about something, it doesnt make it the truth.. I know the apocrypha is on hype now, specially after the da vinci code. The 4 good old "official" gospels might not be acurate but they are the oldest source we have about Jesus, and if we can´t believe them, we can´t believe the apocrypha either. If you read them all, you´ll notice the 4 gospels are classic literary stuff, while the apocrypha are silly and bad written.
August 26, 200618 yr everyone can have an emotion about something, it doesnt make it the truth.. Exactly! You only have to look at fu©king Nikki in Big Brother to know that!
August 28, 200618 yr Author thats how religion works though... people have an emotion about something, a deep seated feeling, and assume its 'their god' making his presence felt.. but this is nonsense, what they fail to realise is that everyone from whatever religion can experience the very same thing! heck you can even get there by meditation!!! it isnt 'god' , its an emotion, its in your head! take away emotion out of the religious equasion and examine the 'facts' coldly, unemotionally, scientifically and the whole concept falls apart. people are all too ready to accept the doctrine that they are born into, and to accept the 'quick fix' answer to 'what is life about'. they close their minds.... never close your mind.... never.
August 28, 200618 yr There is no such thing as Adam and Eve! It's some myth just like God created the universe

August 28, 200618 yr OMG john i dont like the last line :( well as i don't have a religion it doesn't bother me, also 666 doesn't mean kill virgins in honour of satan but to live in a life that isn't restricted by dedicating it to God. Also it is just a song (a good one at that) :P

Six Six Six  They kinda contradict themselves a bit on this song, most of it is saying "religion is sh!t", and then that last line about Satan.... Well, Satanism is just another religion really (the flip side of the Christianity coin really...), you have a "Satanic Bible", a "Church" of Satan, set up by people like Aleister Crowley and Anton La Vey.... Okay, maybe Slayer are, like you say, just using the whole 'six six six' thing as an act of defiance just to p*** people off, but I think they kinda need to make it a bit clearer... And of course, the 'number of the beast' as we now know is "616", not "666", it was a mis-translation....
August 29, 200618 yr in the 1990's it was proven that the universe was created by the big bang, so why do all these christians think it was god if its been proven???

Well satanism doesn't have to be making sacrifices to the devil, in away not having a religion is satanism as your denying God exsists. Thats how i think they're using it. it maybe 616 but that doesn't sound right in songs ;) in the 1990's it was proven that the universe was created by the big bang, so why do all these christians think it was god if its been proven??? Well it hasn't been proven actually, it is just a theory. Using physics we know most of what happened after the first 0.4 seconds of the universe, within those first 0.4 seconds we don't know what happened but the big bang theory is probably the best theory for the creation of the universe. Christians believe that god made the earth for many reasons. One that ties into the big bang theory is that, that all happened but it was the force of god that made it happen and thaqt he's the force behind the scenes that is makking it all happen. Another one is that the 7 days as said in Genesis aren't actually 7 periods of 24 hours but alot longer. And then you have the crack pot idiots who believe the bible is 100% correct word for word.
August 29, 200618 yr Author in the 1990's it was proven that the universe was created by the big bang, so why do all these christians think it was god if its been proven??? nope.. it hasnt been proven, its only a theory. if the big bang did happen, then it could be argued that 'god' created the big bang...
August 29, 200618 yr in the 1990's it was proven that the universe was created by the big bang, so why do all these christians think it was god if its been proven??? It's a theory and not proven, under scientific examination it's looking rather dodgy. That being said science moves on very slowly these days and doesn't take much time to educate the public or other scienctics. So in a way science is becoming the new religion for many, with all the same problem in believing something that 's no long true.

So in a way science is becoming the new religion for many, with all the same problem in believing something that 's no long true. but science is evolving, and as new discoveries are made, so scientific theory is re-appraised, updated constantly... this has to be the most intelligent way foreward. christianity though is fixed, fixed in dark age notions, we cant be expected to think like dark age people! we live NOW in 2006.
August 30, 200618 yr Author come on folks... surely i havnt done that good a hatchet job on this?.. this subject is possibly one of the most fundamental that we address, im not looking for argument here, but reasoned discourse from any perspective. debate the issue you bast*rds!

Exactly, if we all stuck with Christianity we'd still be believing the sun revolved around the Earth and the Earth is flat! As well as still burning "witches" at the stake.... Christianity in the middle ages tried to stifle the sciences, denouncing people such as Galileo heretics for believing in Astronomy. Conversely, Islam in this period embraced scientific discoveries and nurtured the pursuit of knowlege.... Jeez, I wonder what went wrong...? Same old story probably, those in power wanting to use a religion to subjugate the masses.... Islam and Christianity have so much in common....
August 30, 200618 yr Religion is at the root of nearly all wars and hostilities throughout mankind, we would be better off without it.
August 30, 200618 yr Religion is at the root of nearly all wars and hostilities throughout mankind Very true, well, all except for the Quakers of course, who are ideologically completely opposed to all wars for any reasons....
September 5, 200618 yr in the 1990's it was proven that the universe was created by the big bang, so why do all these christians think it was god if its been proven??? Well, you might be surprised, but one of the institutions that is most enthusiastic in the world about the big bang theory is... the catholic church. Before that, scientist thought the universe had always existed, now they know it had a beginning, and apart from that, science can´t explain WHY exactly it has begun... That will always lead people to the doubt: why the **** we exist, when we should simply not? Why is there a universe full of stars and planets, when simply it should be just dust or emptyness? Until science finds the answears for the crucial questions of existence, there will always be space for people to believe in God. While most people today think religion is a thing for the poor and uneducated people, there are many exceptions with some of the world´s brightest minds. Plus, it´s not only christians who think the universe was created by some "God", but almost any people that ever lived in this planet had this kind of belief, even the ones who where totally apart from out civilization. The only difference of course, is the fact that Christinas believe that not only God exists, but his word made himself into flesh... And that´s why every month of december we go to the shops to celebrate it. :) The final triumph of christianity is that human beings need a reason to be "nice"... Think of helping starving children, fighting for human rights, etc... In the end, if there is no God and we´re simply waiting for our death, then everything I do which is not to satisfy my own pleasure is a total waste of time.
September 5, 200618 yr Exactly, if we all stuck with Christianity we'd still be believing the sun revolved around the Earth and the Earth is flat! IF the earth was flat, and IF the sund revolved around it, would it make ANY difference in our lives? The purpouse of christianity is not to find scientifical theories. How the universe works doesn´t change anything on our lives, as long as it still WORKS. Religion is supposed to deal with people, not nature. As well as still burning "witches" at the stake.... Christianity in the middle ages tried to stifle the sciences, denouncing people such as Galileo heretics for believing in Astronomy. You mean the catholic church, which is just superficially christian, and considered by many the biggest enemy of christianity.
September 5, 200618 yr Religion is at the root of nearly all wars and hostilities throughout mankind, we would be better off without it. The world wars I and II were done because of religion? The wars we have today have anything to do with religion? Well, you might argue that it´s all about Christian versus Islam, but you have to be a fool to believe that´s the reason... Geroge Bush started to attend a christian church just months before the elections. Saddam Hussein was never particularly religious.
