T WAS PERFECT

I don't even care if it is the single or not, I'm absolutely stunned, by far her best performance of the era

Agreed.

If I were Kath, I'd be cryin at how amazing this song/ performance are!

I mean who can compete? This is one of my fave ever GaGa performances, ever, up there with Poker Face on the piano with the shoe, Bad Romance on X Fac and the VMAs.

Why on f***ing earth would she promote a single that hasn't even been pushed to radio yet?? The song would get a small boost on iTunes and then drop f***ing straight away and it would have been pointless. Then they'd have to start from f***ing square one with it again. It was kind of inevitable that she would perform an album track. And that's the most effective way to sell an album/tour, because singles get beaten to death on radio anyway. So this is something fresh to the GP that watched the show. Whether you think ARTPOP was a good enough choice for that or not is your f***ing call!!!

Finally, some sense!

Artpop would be better than Venus as a single, anyway.

Breathtaking, emotional, just amazing.

It was used like Coldplay on X Factor performing other songs. It's to promote the album and show a different side to it BEFORE the 3rd single gets promoted. It would make no sense performing a single that's not yet getting promoted. And look at Twitter, people really took to it, and so they should!

@DJWS: Easy everyone. Things are not

always as they seem.

IT APPEARS ARTPOP REALLY ISN'T THE

SINGLE. Get ready for G.U.Y. Now if someone could explain why ARTPOP was performed everything will be amazing again. :D

People need to f***ing calm down over this. Some of y'all act like this will be the only promo spot she'll have for the 3rd single. I thought ARTPOP was a great decision to promote, ya know... ARTPOP... ya know, the album... ya know, the namesake that is not selling very well right now. Very considerate of the Tonight Show audience too. They're older. Another point is that the next single is still weeks away. Why promote it now to an audience that will probably find it way too provocative anyway? Now THAT is a f***ing waste.

She could perform 'What Does the Fox Say?' and still make it sound like the most amazing record ever. She's just breathtaking.

PERFORMANCE NOW ON VEVO MONSTERS

YAAASSS. Gaga to slay all streaming charts and debut at #8 on the hot 100 with 'Artpop' :cheer:

Amazing performance. Her vocals were ON POINT! Love her!

Lady Gaga Gets Dramatic With ‘ARTPOP’ on

Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ [VIDEO]

by Amy Sciarretto February 19, 2014 8:40 AM

Lady Gaga delivered a dramatic rendition of the

title track of ‘ARTPOP’ with her appearance on the

second episode (Feb. 18) of the new look, Jimmy

Fallon-hosted ‘The Tonight Show.’ She sure made

it a performance to remember.

With center-parted, butt-length white hair and

extreme winged eyeliner, Gaga was an ethereal

and otherworldly vision, seated at her piano as

she delivered a slow, sultry first verse and chorus.

She sped things up for the second chorus,

turning the Fallon stage into a disco party for the

second half of the song. Her piano was situated

on a riser, so she proceeded over the action as

she tickled those ivories.

Mother Monster descended the ramp for the last

third of the song, dancing with her band, also

dressed in all white. It was epic and dramatic,

and thoroughly Ma Monster-esque. She reminded

us that she is a consummate performer.

She planted a smooch on J. Fall’s cheek after he

greeted her post-performance, too. Aw!

We can’t help but wonder if this was a taste of

what to expect on her upcoming artRave: The

Artpop Ball Tour.

Lady Gaga performs

'ARTPOP' on second Jimmy

Fallon Live show

Lady Gaga

Lady GaGa took to the stage last night on the

Jimmy Fallon Live show, to perform the title track

from her latest album 'ARTPOP'.

The singer dazzled as she took to the piano for an

acoustic introduction to the hypnotic tune, and

channelled her inner Kate Bush when she moved

onto the floor.

This performance marked Gaga's first in 2014,

and the beginning of the new 'ARTPOP' era that

she promised through her Little Monsters social

media website.

Meanwhile, fans are still eagerly awaiting the

announcement of the record's third single, with

rumours all pointing toward the Zedd-produced

'G.U.Y'.

One last one, I found this one to be so spot-on:

I am starting this with all intents and

purposes to keep it brief. Also, it is rare that I

would ever write an analysis of a live

performance, but here goes…

When I woke up this morning to last night’s

noise and ad hoc social media posts featuring

dodgy YouTube links to Gaga’s much

anticipated (we’ll get to why it was much

anticipated) performance on Fallon I watched

it immediately and also immediately

understood why she chose to perform

ARTPOP and the significance behind it.

It is fair to say that that campaign for ARTPOP

isn’t where it was projected to be at today.

Things changed, videos didn’t come out,

managers/management teams were fired,

promo was pulled, artists were featured on

remixes that were unplanned, organic

decisions and the album/single cycle was set

into a bit of a spin. The darkest thing to

come from all of this is the way in which

the media is treating Gaga. There are

now countless “this is why she flopped”

articles from credible publications,

blogs and even national newspapers.

Why the press deems it socially

acceptable to literally bully an artist to

the point of obliteration is beyond me. If

this sounds like my very own “leave Britney

alone moment” then so be it, but I am

certainly not the only person that feels this

way. I cannot escape my Facebook timeline

including some vested hatred towards this

woman. This woman who has tirelessly

built her own career and deserves every

inch of success due to sheer talent, skill

and love for her art (note her image

post on Little Monsters after the show).

When talent deserves praise, society

feels it is acceptable to knock her down.

Why? Because she has thick skin and can

take it? Because she’s a business woman?

Because they find some mild semblance of

amusement in the fact that she wears her

creative heart on her sleeve?

The manner in which the global media

scathes this woman is comparable to

homophobia, racism and sexism. It is

unfair and has to stop …but back to the

performance.

After almost two months of hiding away,

Gaga returned to perform the title track to

her album. Of every song on ARTPOP, this one

surely means the most lyrically. From a

depth standpoint, it is a song about her

art, the misunderstanding of her art

and the simple essence of wanting to

create in a way that her fans and the

world can appreciate. This is why a live

performance of this track was so

poignant. Fallon wasn’t just a promo

opportunity, it was a chance to make

the world understand why Gaga exists

as an artist, and in my opinion it came

through.

The lyrics. “A hybrid can withstand these

things / my heart can beat with bricks and

strings / my ARTPOP can mean anything.”

The vision. A clean slate, white

Balenciaga outfit with no frill, no fancy,

no shoes. The talent. Perfect vocals,

piano skills that prove to the masses

that she is not just a recording artist,

but so much more. The set design and

platform. Coming down to earth, a

prophecy and vision.

She will stand up for her art and

passion, no matter how much she is

knocked down. That’s all. Re-watch it now

with this perspective in mind. Peace.

YASSS!!! I agree with everything said here! It was a representation of her true artistry! ARTPOP. But still GUY would have been so much better!
I totally agree with the last section, but I really don't think the global media is "scathing" her. I mean looking at articles about her it seems like she gets treated like any other famous star. There are times when people love her, and times when people don't. It's just the natural cycle of stardom.
Awesome review, the performance gave me a new found love for the song. AM FANGURLING FOR IPOP NOW MONSTERS :cheer:
