Sex Dreams sounds like it could have been on The Fame Monster or Born This Way? It's very similar to say, Heavy Metal Lover, in my mind... and thematically it's the same thing she's been doing since her first record.

I just remember Rihanna coming out with We Found Love and being like DAMN! Gaga needs a song like that? Something that's really solid and kind of different than what the public expects from her? Cyndi Lauper comes to mind bc while Madonna went on to be a global superstar, Cyndi basically kept making the same songs over and over and look what happened. I love Cyndi, but just saying!

That being said, a lot of her looks this era have been pretty fantastic. The one saving grace so far...

Just watched most of the performances. While there were a few great songs (Sex Dreams, Manicure, Aura, Swine) and I could interpret it as trying to take a new direction away from the other female pop stars, this is more D-list than A-list which is how she's perceived. The images were awful and she's definitely on something. Deny it all anybody wants but you have to admit it'll take a miracle for this album campaign to be as successful as the first two, which hopefully no one is objecting to.

Just compare her actual performing (not the pandering speeches or dreary ballads) to Katy or Rihanna live. Be grateful.

Swine is so f***ing incredible. That breakdown! YESSSSSSSSSSS

Sex Dreams is lovely as well. MANiCURE I love too.

Bitch is still so damn good.

Pavel gets it.

Aura is obviously still insanely good. <3

Only can't make myself like the ballads (Artpop is okay but that other one is rather blah) and Jewels & Drugs.

The comparaisons are unnecessary really. I would say Rihanna is vocally stronger than Lady Gaga actually, and I'm not a RiRi fan.

Plus it doesn't really prove anything, the vocals don't do everything for a popstar and the likes of Beyoncé and Adele are 10 times stronger than her anyway.

'Performing' doesn't only mean SINGING though. From what I've seen RiRi and Katy are more about interacting with the audience while GaGa is more about doing her thing sharply and in the best way. Nothing wrong with either of them but GaGa does come across as a better performer.

I'd say Beyoyo and GaGa are on the same level actually. And Adele only like what... STANDS (or WALKS at best) throughout her entire concert (I haven't seen it so only assuming here (omg just imagined her doing splits in bikini CANNOT UNSEE)) so she'll OBVIOUSLY have better vocals DUH.

My post was basically a way to say that comparaisons were useless. Saying she is a better performer than this popstar or that popstar is down to opinions and to what you expect from a popstar.

She is a good performer anyway, no one is denying that point. The dreary voice and overdramatic speeches kind of overtook her last night though.

(Oh and no way she is on the same level than Beyoncé both vocal and dance wise :kink: )

Gaga may have a great many faults but she IS a consummate performer. Even the elongated essays mid-concert are part of that, however abysmal and ill advised they are.
People have been commenting how most of the songs fit well onto The Fame (Monster) - and that's exactly what I feel had to happen.

Lady Gaga is an amazing performer and vocalist, I'm sorry but nothing compares to the Scheisse dance routine on the tour, and her vocals on Speechless/HairgYou And I on tour, her contemporaries could never....

Rihanna can be very good at times but the Loud dvd proves she can be an awful vocalist and is most of the time, Katy Perry....no comment

"‏@OfficialAdele: @ladygaga mermaids for life! Brilliant as always thank you for a wonderful night! #MANiCUREisthebest"

Basically this.

Just 'cos Rihanna can hit a few more notes now does not put her anywhere near the scale of GaGa. I don't see how people can compare the two vocally or even in terms of dance?? There's no comparison.

The problem for Gaga is that because she was so HUGE and is so unique, there is always a huge weight of expectation on her. Roar could have been on any of Katy's albums and it's applauded and a huge worldwide #1 yet Applause is too generic (it's far less generic than Roar!) and the rest of these new songs are apparently not different enough from her older stuff to keep the audience interested. I get all of the arguments as people EXPECT her to be the next Madonna/Cher, a legendary musical chameleon but it's also a shame to overlook how great some of these new songs are, her image, her vocals and individuality as a performer. She's still in a class of her own for me, I love Katy/Adele/whoever but their careers don't excite me, Gaga's does.

Richy proving yet again why I love him so much.

Agreed. I continuously fall into the trap of expecting *SOMETHING* from her, so set myself up for disappointment (hello Applause). I’m in the camp who would rather have an album full of Aura’s instead of another Poker Face megahit.

With the Katy Perry/Rihanna etc comparison, we all make it. They are her peers, and I have yet to be remotely interested in a performance by either of them. She just gets it (well, almost, the *worship me* speeches and piano sections need to go).

Also, MANiCURE. Utter crap.

 You are so right
