February 25, 201411 yr Author From http://www.classichitsandoldies.com/v2/201...rs-performance/ When U2 performs their Oscar-nominated song, “Ordinary Love,” at the 2014 Academy Awards this Sunday, some very special guests will be in the audience. Deadline reports that Nelson and Winnie Mandela‘s daughters Zindzi and Zenani have accepted an invitation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to attend the ceremony. “Ordinary Love” is from the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s fight to overthrow South Africa’s racist apartheid system, including his long incarceration as a political prisoner and his emergence as the country’s first black president. The song pays tribute to the relationship between Nelson and his second wife, Winnie. Regarding their decision to attend the event, Zindzi and Zenani said in a statement, “This is especially meaningful to us because of how much our father loved watching movies. This song was inspired by the beautiful letters that my father and mother exchanged while he was imprisoned at Robben Island.” “Ordinary Love” will compete for the best original song prize along with “Let It Go,” from Frozen; Pharrell Williams‘ “Happy,” from Despicable Me 2; and Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O‘s “The Moon Song,” from Her. The Oscars will air live on ABC Sunday starting at 7 p.m. ET.
