Posted October 31, 201312 yr A total of 159 songs has been entered to this year’s SF internet selection. The deadline for submission was yesterday, October 28th. Among the entrants there are some familiar faces. As we reported in our article on October 25th, three days before the end of submission, only 77 songs had been entered. The last minute rush took place once again this year, bringing the total number to 159. That means SF received 20 songs less than last year, when 179 entries had been uploaded to the video portal. Three former Eurovision entrants have decided to take their chance again. The first of them is Daria Kinzer, who entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 for Croatia with her song Celebrate. She came 15th in the semifinal and thus failed to qualify for the final. She has entered a song called Somebody Like You, written by Michael Down, Andreas Anastasiou, Jonas Gladnikoff and Primoz Poglajen, pretty much the same team that was behind Meðal Andanna for Birgitta Haukdal in last year’s Icelandic national final. The second former entrant is Annet Artani. She entered the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens for Cyprus, where she sang Why Angels Cry. She failed to qualify, coming 15th in the semifinal. Her song is called You Got What I Need and was written by herself, Andrew Bullimore and Michael Angelo. The third one is Rainer Hoeglmeier. He entered the contest back in 1985, when he was part of German band Wind. They sang Für Alle in the Eurovision Song Contest and came second behind Bobbysocks. His entry is called Zeig Mir Die Liebe. Other well known names in the selection include former national final entrant Patric Scott, 2012 Festival da Canção entrant Carlos Costa and Polish star Gosia. The internet voting for this year’s internet selection starts on November 4th. A jury will also look at the songs. A total of nine will be submitted to a so-called ‘Expert check’, where only three songs from SF will make it through to the national final. RTS (the francophone broadcaster) will have two entries in the final, RSI (the italophone broadcaster) will have one song there. The nationwide national final will take place on February 1st in Kreuzlingen. Source: http://escxtra.com/2013/10/159-songs-enter...s-video-portal/
