Eminem

Previous release date: June 22, 2010

Previous first week: 741,000

Previous release, to date: 4,470,000

Lady GaGa

Previous release date: May 23, 2011

Previous first week: 1,100,000

Previous release, to date: 2,297,000

One Direction:

Previous release date: November 13, 2012

Previous first week: 540,000

Previous release, to date: 1,775,000

I'm picking Eminem. 1D will probably see a similar number to last year, possibly more since release week coincides with Black Friday. Gaga had the best 'previous first week' of the three, but Amazon sold 440K of them for 99 cents, and that won't happen again. Hopefully Artpop manages at least half of what Born This Way did in week 1! Eminem has had the longest time between albums. That could either help him or hurt him, but IF there's a decrease it won't be very much.

Eminem with higher sales than Drake. I can't see it going any other way really, this era's been huge for him.

Given Drake's numbers, I think it will be Eminem, but it's hard to say just how much he will sell.

Highest = Eminem

Sales = Lower than Justin, higher than Drake

To be honest I think it's possible we're overestimating Eminem based on how well he's doing in the UK currently, so I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if he came in at a similar or lower number than Drake. Gaga's predicted to do 375k and 1D won't dramatically exceed the sales of Take Me Home so there's really no competition.

For fun:

Eminem - 780k

Gaga - 350k

1D - 500k (Black Friday should inflate first week but week #2's fall should be more dramatic to compensate)

I predict:

-Eminem : 650 k

-Gaga :350 k

- 1D : 550 k

sales would be a lot higher for them if it wasn't the worst period for sales ever in the US..

You know you've never mentioned that before.

I just can't see Eminem doing less than Drake.

Maybe he won't do JT but definitely in 750k-800k territory.

That low?

I'm 99 % sure, her first week sales will less, than Katy Perry had with "Prism". :)

I don't think that's possible.

GaGa is more of an album seller and Katy didn't exactly set the bar high with her first week sales.

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP2 - 850,000

Lady Gaga - ARTPOP - 620,000

One Direction - Midnight Memories - 535,000
